    I've been looking for a 'Thank You' gift for someone I could crochet rather quickly. Thanks for the idea, this lovely vintage pattern will fit the bill.

    My friend and I have never done crochet before. We challenged each other to make a set of these and gift it to each other for Christmas.
    Wish us luck 😅

      Aww that's such a cute idea! You guys totally got this. 😊 It's a lot easier than it looks, plus you're using basic crochet stitches. The only part that gets a little tricky (until you get the hang of it) is the seaming part in the end. But once you know how to place your stitches and how to hold your hook, you'll breeze through it! Good luck. ✨

    I have tension, issues. 😁 This will take me 3 to 10 times to make to get my tension right. Instead of starting over, I would let it "curl" and call it a bowl cozy. Practice, practice, PRACTICE! Thank you, I really enjoyed your tutorial.

      I have been spending the last 3 days practicing with a simply made made wire tension ring, in order to maintain a consistent line tension. It has taken 3 days, but it is finally starting to to work out for me. You might consider using one. I pick the ring last year for around $6-7 on Amazon, and yes it took me two different attempts to actually find success with it. I am now consistent crocheting long straight, uniform rows. Cue happy dance 💃 🎉🧶

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  17 днів тому +1

      Yes, practicing the stitches over and over really helps with tension. 😊 Somebody else had mentioned a wire tension ring, but that might be really helpful to use as well. You've got this though! Good luck! ✨

    • @JewelsandJones

      Thank you for mentioning the wire tension ring. I think it could really help people get their tension better when crocheting. 😊✨

    Is lightweight yarn strong enough to protect from heat?? I was hoping to make this as a hot plate. Beautiful project and excellent description. Thank you

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  18 днів тому

      Hi there, I've had no problem using these as hot pads. They are double thick, because you're putting two petals on top of each other. You could always use a heavier weight cotton yarn, it just might make your flower potholder a bit bigger.

    I am confused. Is it fingering yarn or DK yarn. They aren't the same. Fingering us size 1 and DK is size 2

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  17 днів тому +1

      Hi there, I listed both fingering and dk weights because I find that it's right in between the different yarn weights. Lion Brand 24/7 dk version yarn is a great substitute for the Scheepjes yarn. You could also use a worsted weight cotton yarn, I don't think it'll make that much of a difference, besides the potholder being slightly bigger.

    Hi! Can I use an acrylic yarn?

    • @jenniferlopez1073
      @jenniferlopez1073 12 днів тому +1

      Acrylic could melt taking hot items from the oven.

      @@jenniferlopez1073 Ok thanks 🫠

    • @JewelsandJones
      @JewelsandJones  12 днів тому +1

      Hi there, acrylic yarn could melt if something hot is put on it. So it's best to use cotton yarn when making potholders. 😊
