Welcome to the channel! I'm glad you're enjoying the vids. I know what you mean about traditional art. There's a beauty and craftsmanship that's like nothing else.
I feel you on being lazy instead of buying or cutting board. I have a bunch of 16 x 20 cheap stretched canvas given to me that I use on such an occasion
Ive been binge watching your videos, some amazing amazing work. i bought my first set of oils after wanting to paint with them for years but never getting round to it. really good to see how you approach your work with the underpainting process. I remember in school, going back 20 odd yrs i loved the work of Rodney Matthews, that's what id love to get into but need to start off with thebasics first and get used to them. Thank you for sharing your work and process

That's what you call art! According to my friend, it's not about chucking paint at a board. It's about FINE ART. Fun ally enough I did the opening scene to Star Trek Voyager and , by Accident colours I got were so cold Looking I didn't want to put in the ship Long story!
It has been so incredible to see you working on this one, the drawing stage was breathtaking and the painting is gorgeous! Congratulations on the 1000 subscribers, I'm sure it's just the start because you are awesome!
Amazing artwork! It inspires me so much to continue my own sculpting, maybe try oil now. I'm very interested in D&D and would love a character sketch :)
Thanks! I love sculpting too though I don't have the time to work on it like I used to. Sure, give oil a try. It gets real fun once you get used to it. Just send me an email (jarelthreat@gmail.com) on your character and we can work on it.
You are one of the winners of the giveaway, congrats! Please email me(jarelthreat@gmail.com) so you can choose from the available sketch cards and your mailing address. Congrats again!!
Hey Jarel Threat, are you a Watts Atelier student? I just found your channel today and subscribed, I ask cuz I am a Watts student and You paint like Jeff Watts.
True, the placement is stretched a bit. It was done intentionally. In the correct placement, most of the thumb gets cover by the relic and makes the hand look wierd, or at least I thought so.
Ok, you lot. This guys brilliant!
what a incredible art. :)
thank you!
Very nice painting.
Only been subbed for a few weeks and loving your work. I love traditional art especially fantasy art and portraits.

@@JarelThreat Your work reminds me of Ryan Pancoast. Are you familiar with him?
@@c6s6s6 Yeah, I love his work. He is one of my influences for sure. That's high praise, thanks Craig!

You are welcome Jarel, thanks for sharing your process and knowledge 😊👍
Thank you. It's nice to know my videos can be useful to others.
It looks like a concept art. In oil it looks so amazing that I wanna try something like that too aahh. Great job, by the way!
Thank you! The painting was a sample for Magic the Gathering
Just one more point, where does the ideas come from?
From everywhere really. Life, comics, anime, movies, etc. I just mix those things with my imagination to get the final painting.
Just curious, how long in real time?
It took about 30-35 hours.
Do you do a lot of studies to get you lighting right?
No, I just do a preliminary drawing to get all the elements how I want them.
Do you glaze any of your painting?
Yes I do. I glaze every painting to some degree. I use glazing as a way to adjust things and create depth.
THANKS.
Nice work but very blurry 😮I watched your other videos n they were Great 👍 What's up?
Hey Jarel Threat, are you a Watts Atelier student? I just found your channel today and subscribed, I ask cuz I am a Watts student and You paint like Jeff Watts.
That's whats up! No, I'm not a Watts Atelier student or at least not for long. I did do the drawing classes online in 2015.
Ok, ok, backgrounds?
Well the thumb is not completely on anatomy though..

@@JarelThreat but nontheless it is an amazing piece of art.
How, if I don't now know. Back ground : fiery reds and yellow in a cave!?
What do you mean exactly? If it's related to color then anything can be any color if surrounded by the right colors.
