Systems, procedures, quality control etc. are such important aspects of any form of manufacturing or assembling parts and components. The aviation industry set the standard, for obvious reasons, and now it filters through to Snowy River Caravans, Motor Racing Teams, Engine builders etc. etc. Cheers for watching!
I am in the market for a van and like the SRC but put them lower on the list as the body is not locally manufactured. Their assembly facility is impressive, was blown away by the water test, will definitely reconsider a SRC
Yes, I didn’t see any frame welding or anything like that or suspension fabrication. Is all that coming from China? Chinese fabrication can be the weak point, just ask someone who has just been up the Tanami Track.
I have a 2 year old snowy and the Chinese concern is not valid given most vans have a high percentage of Chinese supplied gear but what is a concern can be the warranty support. We love our van but feel there after sales support could be better.
@@Mick_4591 they have a set of scales there and each van is weighed 100%. I can’t recall any being weighed when I was there though to be fair. Cheers for watching
Very impressive set up. Look like they are well engineered and made. I just checked out their website and it seems to suggest that the caravans are actually built in China? Is most of the work done overseas and then they just fit some final bits together in that factory?
so, my understanding, from friends who own one and we stumbled on a snowy river catch u once, is they are essentially built in china, get shipped out as an empty shell, and the fit out is done here...
Thanks for watching. Snowy River Caravans are designed and engineered in Australia. While the chassis and body are manufactured in China using designs from an Aussie R&D team, all assembly, quality control, and finishing touches happen at the Melbourne factory seen in this video. This ensures the caravan delivers the highest quality and durability, backed by a 5-year structural warranty. Let me know if you’ve got any other questions! They're planning to relaunch the factory tours for the public in 2025, so stay tuned for that! Cheers!

@@perkinsengineering Yeah it's the finished product that the customer gets where you actually see what quality control is like. As I said by that time it's too late.
Funny how the day I picked mine up it rained and there was a massive water leak above my bed. Filled a 10 litre bucket in 20 mins. Proves that the water test is NOT carried out on every caravan. If every caravan was water tested mine would have been sorted before it left that factory. Quality control needs to be improved at snowy river. Maybe consult actual snowy owner to get a real life account of the quality of their vans.
Thanks for watching our video but I am sorry to hear about your issue, especially on the day you picked it up! I can only speak on behalf of my experience, and from the Factory Tour and time I've spent with Snowy River they take quality very seriously and they make the effort to ensure every caravan meets a high standard. If you haven't already, reach out to their customer service team and get it sorted. They value the feedback and will do their best to get on top of it and improve. Thanks for sharing your experience and hopefully your input helps improve for everyone. Cheers.

It's a shame they're not Australian Made... They really do nothing more than any other importer trying to make $$$ for $ You want to show some local, aussie made equipment, look at Jacksons Australia.

Great. Send them up to the Sunny Coast and watch the combination roll over on the highway with the rest of them! There needs to be an ARD stibily test specifically for all these new type high ride caravans. You do not need an engineer degree to see that the roll centre is so far above the chassis that a roll over is the guaranteed outcome. Why is the floor higher than the top of the tyres? Don't say for 'Off Road', nobody is going to tow $250k of Taj Mahal anywhere you need the exit angle.
These are not really that different to other enclosed race car or car trailers, although they are predominantly for highway use only. They are raised for ground clearance as a lot of people do take them off road. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
@@perkinsengineering I have never seen a car trailer with the floor higher than the top of the tyre like these 4wd vans all are now. All of the trailers I've owned and towed have been constructed so that the load floor is not much above the axle centre. They tow great like that when properly loaded. Even properly loaded, vans like these are unstable, it's unavoidable. Not only that, but many constructors now add independent suspension with no sway bars. This just adds to the issue. I'm not having a go at your chosen brand here, just the now common design across the various builders. As a racing workshop, I'm surprised that defend the design, surely you can see the high mass location is an issue. If not, follow one down a the road for a bit and watch the top wobble around. Yep they are actually slightly narrower than most vans so the panels can fit into containers.
TPS - long time no see
TPS = Throttle Position Sensor in our world!?
