saw them in new york! christian is a wonderful lyricist and a fantastic vocalist. it was beautiful to watch them perform.
Loved this interview! The Hotelier are one of my favourite bands and I'm so glad you talked about 'Goodness' as I feel that it often gets brushes aside and ignored in favour of 'Home, Like Noplace Is There' when in reality it's every bit the equal. So happy these guys are back out touring and playing their music again.
You can tell how genuinely stoked this interviewer is. The squirming with excitement while indulgently praising 'Two Deliverances' was a dead giveaway. It truly is an unlimitedly beautiful track.
It seems like Christian is always internally reflecting. When asked about the creation of such personal art, he peers inside himself before answering each question. I think it's what makes them such an authentically pure band. We are moved to lock eyes with that vulnerable softness, and their sound holds our gaze. Props to the interviewer for these questions. What seem at first like small talking points turn into real burners about process, due largely I think to his palpable love for the material and Christian's shared enthusiasm. Great vibes.
To me it looks like Christian would love to tease the possibility of new 'Hotelier,' but knows that means facing the push and pull between the joy he finds in performing and the potentially deadening drain of soul and bank account. We can all hope for the former and provide our best support, as fans, through the latter.
Thanks for doing this interview!
I usually make a point to not read comments on things that I've done, but I'm very glad I stumbled upon these words. Thank you very much for your kind thoughts on this interview, it was truly a thrill to get to chat with Christian. -Case
Was so grateful to see them live on this tour. My only wish would've been to hear two deliverances and maybe settle the scar but I can't ask for too much!
the new hair cut looks good on him :)
i JUST found out that they went to Seattle in February!!! i cant believe i missed it PRAYING they play more shows & i get to catch them
Great interview. If the Hotelier release more music I'm here for it, and if not Home and Goodness are still *important* records to me. I am sincerely grateful that those two records exist.
This was such a great interview!
