    I see a lot of complaining at the new content but honestly, some of the best innovators in food forests, permaculture, growing food .. have travelled to loads of different countries before finding new methods and unique perspectives that have helped all of this become accessible to the layman.. I say you are doing great, keep it up and it will be fun to see what you end up building

      Hmm ok so do you throw away a book when you are in that first third where you are still interested but things get a little slow, or do you keep reading? When your typically comedic relief buddy gets at a stage where he’s just working to get things done, do you say “screw your man, you used to be funny” and drop him like a hot potato?
      There’s SO much content you could be exploring on UA-cam and just check in on this channel until it meets your standards. No need to whine that your court jester is taking some time to himself

    The fact that these horse keepers used boots is very impressive; I really should have expected it though, coming from people who are living this lifestyle. I also noticed that one of the horses was rideable without the use of painful metal bits in his mouth, which is awesome. As a longtime horsekeeper, I must say, these horses are well taken care of and very lucky to have such humans. Horses are so abused by every nation of the world, this is true, but if one has an understanding of these creatures, and there is mutual respect for each other and a trusting relationship, horses do not mind being ridden because it is not a burden to them but can be rather quite bonding and rewarding for them.

      Feather Locklear Good Eagle I wonder why the boots are only used on the front hooves? I really respect your perspective, thanks.

    • @featheramericangoodeagle
      @featheramericangoodeagle 6 років тому +3

      On a comfort level, the horse should wear boots on all four hooves. Depending upon the terrain, one can use two boots on the front, but it is not optimal for a horse because a horse carries his load on his back end and will begin to shift in order to ease discomfort, so this is why all fours should be equal. I bet his horses have no issues with hoof condition so it is no problem to use only two boots on short little rides he and his wife take in terrain that he is familiar with.
      Metal shoes are the worst thing ever used on a horse in most cases, although they serve their purpose to a degree short term, but we all know that people keep their horses shod 24/7 because they lack knowledge and believe that metal shoes are a good thing. Injury is the result, and the horse world does not want to own this fact.
      My horse's shoes were promptly removed upon his delivery when I purchased him; he has not had them since (8 years) and the first thing anyone notices about him is the remarkable health of his hooves.
      I should add that as the vegan man said, some horses are not for riding. The Arabian breed should be ridden strictly by humans that are small like jockeys, because this horse has thin legs and is generally slender and not a load bearing animal.

    • @Lauren-vd4qe
      @Lauren-vd4qe 6 років тому +2

      Metal bits in a horse mouth do not hurt a horse when used properly! The bit does not rest on it teeth it sits on a tough gummy gap of tissues between the front incisors and back grinding teeth. A simple curb strap under the horses jaw tightens up when you pull back on the reins but it doesn't hurt the horse it just tells him to slow down or stop. Like you talking to your child in an instructional tone or warning tone. Same thing. Horses can work just like humans. Let's not deify horses it's ridiculous.

    Awesome, I moved from the Azores Islands, off the coast of Portugal back to BC, Canada. They offer woofing also in the Azores Islands and the local produce is amazing too with the same wild gooseberries and cherimoyas. Enjoy! 😊

      If you want to have a life, (Please don´t marry) with a Portuguese women, my advice is try with a Portuguese women living outside Portugal! Here it´s extremely hard, and the mentality can be completely different of what you think about Portuguese! Think twice and research a lot because you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg! Good Luck! :)

    Excellent video, thx for sharing!!! Yes, I lived in California for many years, now live in Spain, on the outskirts my house is 20 meters from the forrest, yeah, quality verses quantity type of thing. Came here to help my parents out, they are at that age where they need me now...
    This whole change of life style has been for the better, thank God :-)
    Portugal is fantabulous actually :-)
    Stay safe from virus, and stay healthy, take care as we are in very strange times...

      My best opportunity is here (abroad), my body is totally here, BUT my heart in mind is not here. That's why, until now couldn't able to speak the local foreign language for my 5 years stay, still weak in learning the language. I sure myself bcos the country that give me the best compensation (better than USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK) is not soul's belong. Except my own home country, my heart and mind always says, go find ur desire country where ur soul's find a haven and heaven, a perfect picturesque where ur whole human body is full. I am into with the locals everywhere here, and had local language classes and now my second schooling again. But my heart and mind not interested at all! Even If I should learn for communicating the locals who couldn't able to speak any English.

    This is the first video I have seen. So I do not know any videos prior to this on this channel. I am surprised by some people’s negative comments. I think what you and your partner have done is amazing and some people are just jealous! You are being “in the moment” which is what everyone should do more of! You don’t owe anyone anything so keep doing what you are doing! Then when you feel like it you can take all these experiences and photos and possibly write a book! So many options such little time on this planet!

    The smartest American I ever came across on the Internet! Proud to see an American realizing this dream! America in my opinion is a place where there is control everywhere, its a police state, bills coming through the post almost everyday, rules for everything, uncle Sam on our tails all the time! Some americans are cool people, but when your live here in America , the American friendliness goes away! Why? In general people are not warm, not that caring, there is no trust, neighbors dont talk to each other! In America, its all about the money you have, not who you are as a person! Portugal is indeed a friendly nation, Portugal does not advertise bullshit food like they do in the States! Portugal offers peace, tranquility , peace of mind when you live there, its a great country!
    Portuguese work to live, In America, Americans live to work!
    Remember the old saying: LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM, The thing is that you have to be asleep to believe it!
    I recommend anyone to experience living in Portugal, great people, great food, peace, no cops everywhere, great beaches, and plus you feel alive in Portugal!
    Well done my man! i dont blame you for leaving Arizona! Its too hot there!
    Arpaio is there too, busy catching up with all the Mexicans crossing the border to steal american jobs and get benefits! ahahahhaa
    Viva Portugal caralho!

      They work in exchange for food and housing. Yup, so do we all, plus we work to pay for necessity's such as clothing, health care, maybe kids and saving for retirement. The difference is without an income they pay no taxes, so I hope they don't expect to take advantage of social benefits paid for by the Portuguese people as they are both very able and should financially contribute to society. Glad they are enjoying the adventure, but it's not a career. Doing the blog may be a career so good luck with that and I hope taxes are being paid like the rest of us.

    a lot of people on youtube are breaking up and splitting up homesteads and finances because of a demanding life. I pray for us all and the resulting new lives people go to. No one teaches the emotions and challenges that come with our ever invasive and helpful and hurtful technologies and politics/government and economic forces that is sometimes outside of our recognition.
