For every one of you, there are another 10 that got an eating disorder from it. Saying 'all kids should be treated this way cause it worked for me' is very short sighted.
@@serenalynn22 Eating disorders are usually overstated. In modern America, any form of discipline or dieting is referred to as an eating disorder now. My parents pushing me to lose weight and calling me “fat” is what caused me to develop an eating disorder at 15. I’m 26 now and I’m still struggling with bulimia. Lesson to be learned here: do not nag and name call your child if they’re overweight. You have no idea what that can do to ANYONE, mentally. Be better.
So sorry you went through that. My parents especially my mom was like that with me. I developed mine when I was 12 and now in my 30s, it's still there. Parents need to be careful how they push their kids to lose weight
Girl, I've been there. My grandma told me at 13 years old "you'll never be skinny, you'll always be fat" I made it to 200lbs down to 103lbs my lowest weight ever and now i have seizures and a life time of medication :D I want to be able to say I'm over it but I still feel bad about myself...
Yea I would feel so insecure and uncomfortable eating my burger and fries with her mom saying lose wait who is she to tell her that and make her do that I mean 20 pounds in 3 weeks she must have been starving herself or something
Hearing her say that she doesn’t like anything about herself is heartbreaking... I have a daughter and couldn’t imagine allowing my baby girl to have such low self confidence. Her mama would be a wonderful asset to improving the way she sees herself if only her mother would care more about her daughter than she does herself
I'm happy for your daughter. I've seen this a lot from women in communities/environments that encourage competition in women. Those environments are ones that pretty women fall into. Then guys want babies with them. But if those guys want daughters they better get to know the women first because... With moms like that there can be a double edged sword. She hates it when you look better than her. If your skinny, she will brings you down and only be happy when she fills you with food. So you give in and destroy yourself before you even know why your doing it. Then you're bigger and (even though she's constantly belittling you), she's happier with herself because she looks better than you. That mom is probably so self absorbed, she doesn't even notice how much her daughter really loves her.
God forbid a parent is concerned about their childs weight problem. If your daughter was on heroin would you react like a loving mom and not scold her for being an addict? I disagree, when I was 18, my already overweight mother told me she wanted me to lose 20 lbs, and it made me feel like shit. Fast forward, a month later, and I find out she has been dating a man who is now my stepfather of 17 years; I put two and two together and realized she was ashamed of her new man meeting her fat daughter; that made me feel even worse. Fast forward; 3 and a half years later; and I took off 60 pounds at the age of 21, and NOT because it was my mother's decision, but my OWN. She was getting out of breath from talking and is obese. But to be worried about your child for the wrong reason/beauty reasons is wrong.
Her child not the child. She’s her child. Saying the child means she’s just some random child and of course they wouldn’t even make sense too because she’s an adolescent not a child unless you are referring to her as one of the mothers children.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to find your comment. 20 pounds, under 1 month is insane. Let alone for a teen under high stress to pull off. Kiddo got chops but it's painful to watch this young beauty being constantly berated over her weight.
I hope I'm wrong but the only way she could have lost 20lbs in 3 weeks is through water fasting. I've done before. Its dangerous, gives temporary results and leads to developing eating disorders plus you gain the weight back and more once you break the fast.
When you’re larger you tend to lose weight faster. Especially with added exercises cause your body isn’t use to that movement. A change in diet also helps.
@@thEb3stEzt i agree but not that fast, I used to weigh 210lbs height 5'3 my freshmen year of hs. I wrestled in high school and even went to nationals. I would work out twice a day. Both a dietician and a personal trainer are necessary to reshape her life. Plus, a psychologist would be good to assist with her emotional state. She looks Gorgeous!!!
Lots of focus on "the looks!" What about studying and achieving in school, in the arts in sports. My two girls were supported to pursue many things. Education was always foremost, but they played sports from the age of 5 which helps girls tremendously with self esteem, feeling strong and capable and accomplishing so much. This culture is definitely harmful! When it came time for the Prom my tomboys were the most girly, beautiful looking young ladies in gorgeous, appropriate dresses! Also, finally a not crazy looking dress made by Saundra Celli with an impossible large skirt!!!
I live in york and the dress shop they went to is legit . They have amazing dress there truthfully. I use to go to daycare across the street from there and was always amazed at the dresses in the window. They come across as a high priced luxury boutique
That was nice for once. Those dresses are always so friggin ugly!
Looks like a general dress boutique because I thought I saw prom dresses, wedding dresses, and what looked like a sundress in there too.
This is just a birthday dress though. Im sure the wedding dress will be crazy haha
@@johnhurd72 True, but I have seen crazy birthday dresses though. That one Paris themed one the pastor's daughter wore for example
She looked beautiful either way and I hope she learns to love herself regardless of what other people think of her. Bless her. She is amazingly strong.
She’s telling her daughter to lose weight for all the wrong reasons. this culture seems so destructive

Very. They get married at such a young age. She should be concerned with school but we all know education isn't their thing
Its so disgusting. I couldn't imagine trying push values like this onto impressionable children. Everything about it is so backwards and dangerous.
like every culture, there are toxic views and cultural practices that are wrong, Roma's are not any different, but just know that not the whole community is like that nor agree with cultural "norms" within the community like child marriage over education, misogyny etc there are many Roma communities that value education and live moral lives, and strongly disagree with these practices and cultural "traditions", this show is just an overly dramatised stereotypical show to gain an audience, I hope you don't judge us based of this show and have a good day :D
@Flocxs - Definitely. Everything is always centered around the man's happiness. It's as if the women settle. I think what happens when the husband ever died these women have no skills. That is why I think education is very important
Never call your child “fat” maybe say like “hey maybe let’s try to eat more heathlier” and say it nicely
All the parent had to do is only keep healthy food in the house and not buy their child's love with food/allowance.
@@MsBhappy exactly
The word fat is a descriptor just like the word skinny is. Maybe her mom should tech her she is worthy at all sizes and build her up instead of telling her she won't be liked if her appearance doesn't meet societal standards. Physical health is important, but mental health is too!
Ikr my mom and dad say one day you doing to be wide :(
The parents should motivate the child and not force it.
Build her confidence up and engage in her interests. Make it about health, instead of making her feel as if something is wrong with her appearance. She is beautiful just as she is. ❤️
Nice In addition, I purchased this ultrasound device, I lost 4.5Kgs at home with it. I got mine from the original Ezolia brand. here: tryezolia.com/products/ezolia-bodyslimmer-body / hope it helps

My parents were like that mom until one day I developed an eating disorder and then they started begging me to eat but the damage to my mental health was done. It took me 12 years to recover from that. Shame on mom for doing this to her in tv. Mona Lisa you are perfect and beautiful inside and out.
My mom was like this as well. I started drastically cutting my calories at age 12 and exercising as much as possible. I was skinny all through high school. Once I turned 18, something just clicked and now, 10 years later, I’m very overweight. I understand your pain. I’m trying to learn nutrition for myself as an adult and change my ways.
I feel so bad for her. I had to lose 200lb but I didn’t have anyone talking down to me to lose it
Exactly the whole situation was messed up, she obviously has low self esteem and depression, the mum could have handled things differently, she should have been more worried about her health, than what she looks like.. Congratulations on your weight loss, it’s a hard journey but well worth it in the end.

Advice?
@@kayladanielle7105
1. Try to avoid eating before sleeping. That's when metabolism kicks in hard. If you eat before bed you weaken it. The more you fast the better.
2. Try to avoid carbs. Focus on protein, and plant based foods, fat, and fiber. And try to eat less in general. Alcohol and fastfood can make you gain weight nonstop, so they're no. 1 to avoid.
3. Build muscle. Muscle speeds up metabolism. Legs are biggest muscle in body, so do squats.
But first thing to do- is to get a scale. Without measuring, you can ever track or see progress.
@@ThePresentation010 thank you!!
The first interview with the daughter I was like “can I cuddle you?” By the end I was like “holy crap a gypsy that doesn’t look trashy!”
She looked beautiful and I hope it boosted her confidence even just for a second.
I know you mean well but that “holy crap a gypsy that doesn’t look trashy” comment is really gross
I know you're not talking about looks. You look like the dollar tree version of the queen from Alice and wonderland. Stay in ur place Mary poppins
That’s exactly what I was thinking as well m, she’s one of prettiest ones I’ve seen on this show
She still has a nice shape at her size. She won’t need to lose much weight to be healthier as it’s not very unhealthy to carry extra weight in your hips and legs. You could see it better when she tried on the dresses. And the trainer is awesome. I bet it feels better to be with someone who isn’t skinny skinny fitness model type.
I agree. I hope the PT continues being part of that young ladies life.
Fitness models are ripped not skinny.
I just hope she finds love for herself and loses weight for herself.
@@codyvalencic1231 In order for a woman to be "ripped" they have to have an unusually low percentage of body fat for a woman, or else the muscle won't show. Women are hormonally designed to have some extra fat because of estrogen. If a woman is "ripped" then she's skinny.
glad she felt good because she worked hard for that dress! mom’s really misguided. my mom said the same thing to me growing up and i still get anxious and inadvertently starve myself before i see her even as an adult. i hope this girl grows up happy and healthy.

😂 I’m named after my dad and he wasn’t that obnoxious to put Jr at the end of my name!
I would have flipped when I got older! 😂😂😂
Serena Williams named her daughter a JR 😂😂
She should definitely have her own identity and her own f name!
They need to worry more about her depression and not about her getting married.
It’s sad that even when she talks about loving the dress there is no light in her eyes and no heart in what she’s sayin I just wanna hug her and tell her she’s beautiful 🥺❤️
First episode that didn’t make me question what’s wrong with people. So proud of this young women. Hope she continues a healthy lifestyle & is loved for being who she is.
I’m still so proud of her for being able to fit into her dress🥺
I’m happy she was able to lose the weight that she did. If you look at the closure in the back though, it was originally a zip up but they had to have it altered and made into a lace up so that it could close properly. Us bigger people know that trick well. She should still be proud of herself for her hard work and her improved confidence. 👍
She didn't lose hardly anything. She had it laced up instead of zipped.
Hopefully she'll continue with the trainer. It was lovely to see her face light up when she saw herself in the dress. Beautiful young woman.
I am so glad the party was a true Sweet 16 and not one of those tragic desperate "got to find a husband tonight" parties.
A young girl's value should not rely upon her appearance, but rather upon who she is as a person, her spirit and soul which is what shines through!
Neither of those are "necessary". There are plenty of people that lose weight without spending money on either. I did by doing my oown research on healthy eating and work out tutorials. Physchologist YES!
Abusive. I was sent to Weight Watchers at 8 YO. Come to find out I had no energy and pain, because of two rare Autoimmune diseases, not diagnosed until early adulthood. Come to find out with my life long symptoms, I always had them. I remember crying in PE due to pain; insults and name calling ensued, even by coaches. Hell when we had Physical fitness qualifications and graded for it. I remember feeling much like this young lady. She is entirely beautiful. Her community can blast off. She is probably using those sweet treats to cope, I know. My heartbreaks. People are cruel. Find those who love all of you, this is not it. 👑🙏
She looks so tired of her mother
And the gyspy obsession with the male gaze... I promise nobody is looking at you everytime you enter a room cause their so amazed and astonished by your ✨gypsy vibes✨
The fact that she's got to lose weight to feel loved and accepted , i feel so sorry for her !!
Not being accepted by these gross people isn't necessarily a bad thing.
She looks so beautiful! Her moms attitude was horrible but the dress was definitely a great confidence boost and motivator to care for herself the way she deserves.
Less than two dozen casually dressed people, including children in any empty hall is one of the biggest events of the year in this "gypsy" community? Lol.
Lmaooooo
Right?! No one dresses nice at these parties, just slobby jeans and tees.
Its always that way on every one of the coming out parties
I mean, considering that she is taught that the best that she can do in life is being a pretty housewife appreatiated by her family (which would be perfectly ok if it was her choice and not something she is brainwashed into doing), I bet that they are trying to push everything that might feel her be proud of being pretty and appreatiated by her family.
And it’s mostly children lol
When I saw the personal trainer I lost it 😂
I saw them right after I read this
Right?!!! Like the personal trainer was out of shape. I'm going to be nice maybe the trainer was out of shape because of the pandemic? Wait when was this taped?
I literally laughed out loud
@@solarsky3691 maybe she doesn't work out as much due to age, but still has experience with clients? But she doesn't look that old either so who knows.

I love the fact the personal trainer isn't a toothpick. She has a body that fits her personality and is realistic for many women. I think a personal trainer like that could be really encouraging for people who are overweight, are looking to become more fit but intimidated by the super skinny super muscular trainers. The show or her Mom did a good job picking this lady.
“A toothpick” Damn it’s funny y’all are okay with shaming skinny women but gasp at the thought of shaming an obese women.
Hela I agree I’m skinny shamed all the time it hurts my feelings
They say all bodies are beautiful but when a fat person cries they say “don’t worry honey you don’t wanna look like a twig anyways!!” You can’t bring someone up by bringing the opposite down this person is an absolute hypocrite
I'm sick to death of walking on eggshells to avoid hurting people's feelings. I've been called a fatass and a twig. I survived both. Grow up.
Just because someone is thin dose not mean there body isn’t realistic If you have a body that is not altered by surgery it’s realistic.
@@vickimorgan8646 we need to grow up because being “thin” is realistic?
She is such a beautiful young lady. I wanted to cry when she realized how beautiful she is
