    I wonder why they put valances in RV's anyway! I mean RV's are small enough without taking up more space with valences! lol Maybe it adds more privacy or something but I dont like them! It just makes no sense to me at all!

      haha @Lara Greene that's a question I think a lot of people ask, us included. It seems like the industry decided that was the way to go and everyone did it :)

      No worries at all! I hope it helped. Nobody likes the way we feel when we're forced to look at the valances that come in RVs haha.

    It never ceases to amaze me! Why do RV builders use such ugly fabrics and hideous valances?? I'm attacking ours this summer as well. Not sure if I will simply recover the top and leave off the sides and add simple side curtains to cover the blind cords or ?? Looking forward to seeing more of your renos!

      I know right, I am not sure I have ever seen an RV with good looking factory valances haha! When you get done attacking yours this summer we'd love to see how you fixed them up!

    I'm trying to do this, but I have the blinds with one shade that you pull to move up or down. They're round. Can you help?

      Hey Polly. We ended up putting shades above all of the windows, but they are white and blend in nicely with the walls. We might upgrade in the future but for now we're happy with the shades. I think you made it over to the website but am not sure if you made it to our painting the walls post. I've put a link below, that goes into detail on how we did it.

      I hope that helps out. Best Wishes Eric

    Amazing thanks. I want to remove the box type pelmets all together and not put them up. The day night shades are broken and i have decided to get vertical blinds installed as the pelmets will not allow the verticals to move thanks for posting

    Hi i live in a cottage trailer from the USA living in NEW ZEALAND. Can you tell me are all pelmets equal what i mean do they all come off? had a bit of water coming in all weep holes are clear so now looking at other places just a small spot on the floor by the clothes drawers.
    I want to get the little brown curtains off but boy i cant put a screw driver to get them off the space is limited to restring the curtain any suggestions would be helpful thanks

    • @Mountainmodernlife
      @Mountainmodernlife  5 років тому

      Hey @noeleen falkner unfortunately not all trailers and valances are created equal. Each manufacturer makes their rigs in a different way. I can say of all the ones I've seen all valances have been able to be removed but others are more difficult than others. I'm glad to hear the weep holes are clear now though :) If you don't plan to reuse the valances you could try to pull them off, which may end up giving you enough room to get the screwdriver in, if you do take this approach you'll probably ruin the valances so you'd need another option to put up as a replacement. Anyway I hope this helps but if I didn't answer your questions please feel free to let me know :)

      @@Mountainmodernlife Hi thanks for your great advice. got the little curtains off! washed them, and they are off at the moment. I put a hand towel under the pelmet we call them here and they are both DRY. cant figure where the water came in from. no water above pelmet this box like thing above the window it has rained, had due on window and nothing has come in. I just cant understand it. Will put up curtains sometime and will Velcro them onto the pelmet corners so if this happens again they are easy to remove.

    what do you do about the holes?

    • @Mountainmodernlife
      @Mountainmodernlife  8 років тому +2

      We are planning to replace the valances with a different type of window treatment here shortly, which will cover up the holes so you can't see them. If we weren't going to be doing that though we would use a filler in the holes then paint over them. We may fill them anyway, so I will let you know more once we do it!
