Not a single south Indian wedding happens without Nadaswaram, It's sacred to us and respect it very much.
COOL
Arumai aana pathivu shko
Tamilnadu marriage and temple this melam
Unfortunately we have modern bands and orchestra that have slowly started replacing them.
@@thewayiam30vamshi90 indeed. I was very disappointed in my marriage because we don't have nadaswaram
Wow reaction to this feels good..Nadhaswaram is compulsary for all marriges in South... Not just Tamil... It creates happy and celebrations feeling around...
Nadhaswaram is considered as a divine instrument in music and particularly must at weddings, temple concerts and other auspicious occasion in Tamilnadu....
At this speed Korbin and Rick will get Indianised faster than the Indians.

Wow. What an original comment. Genius.
Who clicked thinking of Shivaji and Padmini's film ? Maranthirunthu paarkum marum enna
someone suggest this to them 😍
Me too but disappointed seeing this stage performance...anyway that's ok...😂😂
@@panjavanpari8917 yup, but this performance was also awesome. I enjoyed the music.
The legendary Sivaji Ganesan plays the nadaswaram in the movie 'Thillana moghanambal'. It is still played during weddings in Tamil Nadu
Sivaji acted as playing it ;) the musicians who played for the movie are legendary though!!
@@thirdmolar2566 😁 hawa nikaal di 😁
Hey Shivaji acted, waste fellow. Legendary Shivaji Plays itseems...
@@thirdmolar2566 true bro, he acted. But apparently he acted so well, that people still believe that he actually played it!!!!!😅
It's time for Osr to get familiar with the works of the legend Sivaji Ganesan Avargal
In every south Indian marriage onething is common for sure is this music and marriage is incomplete without this. It creates that festive mode ❤️❤️❤️
Nadhaswaram what I heard from is extremely difficult instrument. It needs very high lung capacity and breathing control. Even slight drop of energy will make it sound very bad. And it has very high volume as well. Even mics are not required many times.
Thankyou for bringing these kinds of videos out. Being away from the Indian since so many years, it helps me to reconnect with my heritage. Love your channel for that.
They are Sri Lankan (Jaffna, North Srilanka) Tamil Musicians ❤️
இவர்கள் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தின் கோண்டாவில் என்னும் பகுதியை சேர்ந்த மிச்சிறந்த மற்றும் பிரபலமான தவில் & நாதஸ்வர கலைஞர்கள்.
I am proud to be a யாழ்ப்பாணீஸ் 😁
Guys see the original...the dance of Padmini amma along with the great Sivaji Ganesan sir's acting will be mind blowing.
How is that Original? smh my head
Thilana Mohanambakl is the title for Mohanambal, and is adapted from a novel.
@Prince Lelouch they will say that they are not into ranveer and hrithik roshan... 😂
Nadaswaram are inevitable in South Indian Weddings 🤩👌
The percussion instrument is called "THAVIL". It is not metal but animal skin. Musician plays with stick in one hand and finger in the other. The lead wind instrument is "Naadhaswaram" that brings wonderful ambience to marriages, Temples and folk songs. Both instruments belong to South India commonly played in Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka
You can hear this instrument in most of the Tamil songs.
In every wedding too
@@sathyabamar1691
Yeah obviously
This is our traditional instruments we use this for festivals marriage in temples only for good events
Instruments name are
Naadhaswaram in the middle
Mirudhangam on two sides
And violin that you Know
After first 2 seconds I knew what Korbin was singing...Spot on....Korbin Mehndi😂😂
Its not a dying instrument as mentioned in the description.. Still we see this instruments being played at Hindu marriages and religious cermonies.. AR Rahman uses Nadhaswaram in his songs very often..
I saw the video in the evening and went to terrace to pick up clothes and heard the same instrument being played from a nearby temple... We always hear this but never appreciate. Thank you for making us appreciate what we have
Nadaswaram is a divine instrument. Played only during festivals and celebrations in temples and at homes.
100 thavil, 100 nadaswaram together they play @ meenakshi temple.. Just imagine how that would be.. Whole temple will echo... Here just 2 thavil, 2 nadaswaram..
These instruments are called nadasawaram and thavil (drum) used predominantly in all the south indian states on auspicious occasions like hindu weddings and in temples .
Not in hindu which is used in all tamils wedding
It belongs to TN
omg ...korbin singing tunak tunak tun!!!😅
nailed it!!❤️

Play singara velanay deva in Konjum Salangai movie. Incidentally S Janaki first song, block buster. Nadaswaram is widely played in that matching vocal.
Oh yes another difficult music piece. Love that
No Tamil wedding without this instruments...
New Audience: why the channel's name is "our stupid reactions", you are not stupid.
Korbin and rick: ( LITERALLY bends right to see inside of the instrument in video) 5:11 .
New Audience: OH! WE SEE
2 min silence for people who missed the intro😂😂😂😂
And 2 min of silence for those dumb people who are not recommending them mahabharata or ramayana

Amazing into korbin.. nailed it.
Wow😲. Thank you. Because I subscribed ur channel, got a chance to hear this mesmerising performance 🙏
Listening to Nadhaswaram and Thavil after so many many years...never did I think I would get to see it on OSR. ❤️❤️❤️
From Dallas TX .. you guyz dropped me into my Tamizh Naadu. even today in temples the same instrumental music played where ever my Tamizh people in Singapore, Malaysia, Geneva, Swiss, Canada ..
Should try the “singara velane deva” song which the same instrument are played by legends and is a movie song
Played by the same duo and is absolute divine...
they actually wear a metal clip in their fingers (see left hand)
Wow, this guy Kumaran who is on the right side is a talented guy. As you guys mentioned in the intro These instruments Thavil (which made from skin of bull) and Nadaswaram are kind of dying culture. But Kumaran who is from Kondavil,Jaffna,SriLanka tried to revamp them with these kind of stage shows with other carnatic instructions such as tabla, Violin, octopod and etc. He played lot of famous tamil songs in his Nadaswaram.. They are awesome shows. Never expected someone from my village would appear in this channel. Wowww. (This specific video also taken in a temple at Jaffna, Srilanka)
Thanks for the info about Kumaran. Loved the music and right now googling for the works of kumaran and his team
Who told you it is dying ? dont spread false hood. You go to South India. You will hear this everywhere. Temples, weddings, celebrations, music blaring from loud speakers, in film music. In temples when they play you will know what is going on like what type of puja, if the utsavar is on rounds, if the neivedyam is taken from the madapalli to the garba graha. Same in the weddings, you will know what is going on depending on the tune. So stfu. When they play thaligai mallari is when I run to the temple.
You are winning hearts from southern part of India with video options like these. Cheers. There are more options to get amazed.
These instruments were played in my wedding in Hyderabad. It’s still a tradition in Telugu states
@Vijay Kumar ya split from Kannada happen much recently in writing in Vijayanagar era in 13 th century AD. But linguistically Telugu is different from Tamil Kannada and Malayalam. May or May not be older than Tamil but it’s close relative
@Vijay Kumar lack of evidence doesn’t mean it wasn’t used. Please don’t use English frame of thinking. We share music religion food medicine and much more. All is I am saying is Tamil and Telugu are sisters who are we to say otherwise
For all tamil marriages these instruments are must..
South India I would say most devotional land on earth. They do every thing out of the devotion. South Indian culture represents true culture of the land of India. All great yogis and saints lived there and made the land very devotional
Padmini ammas dance 👍👌😁😁😁😁
Nadeswaram 🎶❤️
By this point, you guys are more Indian than most Indians in India. Your immersion in Indian culture and frames of connection with the India method is far deeper than many from India. Good job gents, you have an open mind, an appreciative mindset and willingness to embrace things that are different than what you’ve seen, heard, touched or tasted. That sets you up to see, understand and appreciate culture. That makes you better humans than most.
Wow.... Real live performance 99.999% similar to the original sound track TM. Get goose bumps listening to this. Thanks for the highlight OSR.
Basically, instrument of Tamil Land. Please listen to Rajarathnam Pillai and Karaikukurichi Arunachalam
These kind of music is carried by Tamil literature which can be heard in chera chola pandiya dynasty...
You guys should see the actual spmg these guys were doing from the movie "thillana mohanambal" there's also a dance element accompanying the nadaswaram and tavil
Super guys I like your reaction
Korbin @ 6:34🤣🤣🤣
Wow i've been watching you guys from your 1st video... can't believe you just watched a video from my district yallpanam or jaffna😍😍.. so excited
That's why Tamil culture needs to be kept alive all the more inspite of influence of any politico, socio, religious on slaughter... The reason the culture fights hard everyday to retain its originality
REACT TO KERALA'S CHENDA MELAM...DRUM DANCE.
Or Panchavadyam
Nadaswaram is considered auspicious during weddings. It’s played in temples during temple festivals and special occasions.
I actually thought the reaction is to the movie by the same name staring Shivaji Ganesha. And Padmini
NAdaswaram - Every Auspicious Function of South India, especially in Tamilnadu - marks the beginning of the function. Almost waking up all to the occasion. Watch the Movie " ThillAnA MohanAmbAll. Barring some histrionics by the legendary actor (RIP) "Sivaji" Ganesan it's worth a watch. Especially how the tabol, NAdaswaram are merge well for BharatanAtyam
Nadaswaram is the soul of indian wedding

Those Sri Lankans 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Korbin 😂😂 nice try.. Love you guys. Tc
The Naadaswaram and the Thavil (percussion) is sacred in south India. Used for all auspicious occasions.
The wind instrument is indeed a reed instrument. This is based on a song from a film from the 1960's. The film was a dance-musical. Perhaps you can react to that film: "Thillana mohanambal". Great music and dance, and a decently gripping storyline.
My mom used to leave me in the care of a Nadaswaram band when she was at the office. They lived and played at the Krishnan Temple in Singapore. A boy, I learnt alot from them. We could not communicate, as I only spoke English and basic Tamil at that time, and I was young. But just being there day in day out, watching them practise, clean and prep the reeds, and get ready for the daily deity processions... taught me my love for music. It's a beautiful art.
The metal sounds were due to the beating of the drum with some metal tubes wound around the fingers of the percussionists. Notice the hand that did not have a stick
The pipe instrument is Nadaswaram. Very old south indian instrument and is played at temples and also at south indian weddings and processions. The drum is called Tavil a variation of mridangam but much more harder and metallic. Both instruments are played for grand open ceremonies. Nadaswaram sound especially like the bagpiper evokes very special emotions in south indians like a wedding is playing nearby because its played really really loud at the wedding for festivity and especially played along with each ritual at the wedding.
Its like how a western mind will feel when you hear "Going to the chapel going to get married". Besides being used holy temple sounds when there are temple deity processions for south indians nadaswaram sound means a couple is getting hitched and bells are ringing, birds are singing for me and my gals... Basically very uplifting and positive vibes from it.
These are treasures of Indian heritage and culture. I would appreciate if you could also touch base on that , a lil reference from wiki on these instruments would be beneficial to everyone here. Just in case if you were looking for their names , they are Nadaswaram ( the wind instrument) and the thavil ( main percussion).
Nadhaswaram sound is the sound of primordial universe.
Keep it coming folks, love your channel , the interest you show to learning new stuff , is amazing. ... As one other user said, we are getting introduced to Indian culture through you both
Nobody:
Korbin: looks like a jazz concert
me: ROFLLLLLLLLLLL😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow that's so nice of you guys to react and make of content of anything. Until and unless people in my country make any content you can provide valuable inputs and insights to it as if it you get the stuff or not.
Nadaswaram is a MUST in all auspicious activities of Hindu ceremonies in southern part of India. Especially weddings and all ceremonies in Hindu temples.
This is a dieing art as this instrument was played by the lower cast who were treated as untouchables and hence after independence in order to avoid discrimination or openly show there caste people in the community stopped learning it. You need to see the kannada movie depicting this acted by legendary Dr. RAJKUMAR and nadaswaram played by an other legend Bismilla khan. The nadaswaram played by the legend in the movie is amazing.
The arts were followed by the vellars and other Tamil communities , and their is no high or low caste in Tamilnadu , every kudi is equal.
But you have to see original Track of this same from Tamil film THILLAANA MOHANAAMBAAL played both Nadaswaram wind pipe instruments supported by TAVIL drum instrument. This same film starting with this nadaswaram Music concert. 2.)NALAMDHAANA song in that same film is cute 3) in this film they played western note. In Hindu Temple functions,Nadaswaram artists plays Different notes of MALLAARI Raagam derives so many varieties for so many different rituals in Hindu temples from morning to night especially on Hindu festival days
If u want to hear more of this instrument.. U can watch songs from Thilana Mohanambal movie... Adding to incredible music u can also watch legendary padmini mam dancing amazing bharathanatyam to this music with Shivaji sir's acting.
Thanks for this wonderful vedio,

Nice to see this art form featured in your channel.
Not only in Tamil nadu. Played in in andhra pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka also
Nadhaswaram is touted to be one the most difficult wind instruments to play! check out the original which came in the movie thillana mohanambal.. all the musical numbers in that film are breathtaking even today!
Both Artist are cousins from Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
Kombu is the war horn type instrument you're speaking of its often seen in festivals and the drum is thavil. Pambai is another drum which is very unique since it's 2 drums in one while one is beaten other is rubbed to produce the sound and its very unique
that percussion instrument is called thavil. its made of Buffalo skin and goat skin. naadhaswaram and thavil are traditionally used during temple festivals and marriages
It's native Tamil instrument which very hard instrument to blow told by American instruments collector as it needs enormous energy to blow and the instrument name is Nadhaswaram
Check out any Chenndi Melam, It can also be called the call for battle instruments, but its tradition originates in the Hindu temples of Kerala.
It terms of a teams of Musicians from Various schools competing, check out any videos of Thrissur Pooram - Melam. outdoor performances, no electricity, Just mind-blowing and look at the coordination of the teams.
Nadheswaram very toughest instrument. We south indians live with music... since born until death...
You can check also death funeral music band... very funny
Thank you for choosing this Nadaswaram and thavil for commenting
You guys need one more channel: Our stupid regional reactions 😜
Again... DIVINE instrument.. there 8 divine instruments.. here they used 2 out of that. Just music itself (though sound high) feels divine. Thats the beauty
Hey guys, I love your (stupid) reactions...
Those drums are called as 'Thavil', A South Indian traditional drums. These are mainly used during Wedding Ceremonies and concerts played with Saxophone and Nadhaswaram. Here is link from Wikipedia for more details about 'Thavil'
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thavil
This instrument is one of the toughest to play, it's heavy and the breathe needs to play it.South India has still preserved Indian culture to some extent.Unfortunately we cannot say this about North of India. There are still some schools is South which teach carnatic music and traditional dance like bharatnatyam and KUCHIPUDI, Such performance makes India so unique. When u think that I know a lot about India or in general about the world., India comes up with something that definitely baffles u.
The instruments are Nadaswaram (pipe) and Thavil (drums) used in the video. It's Tamizhian's culture.
Only played on occasions(wedding), Tamil festivals(temples) and in the movies.
Miruthangam is also Tamil culture.
Thanks for the reaction 🙏
The drum what you referred is the Thavil and the lead wind instrument is Nadhaswaram... Just for yr clarity...
Korbin can sing really well .😂😂😂
Every South Indian marriages and every temple festivals in thispart of India you can see this thavil (drum) and nastashvaram (flute)
Love and support in jaffna in Sri Lanka
