Good, informative video mate. Just got in there and did it!! No talking required. I think some people enjoy the sound of their own voice more than actually giving out information.
first build I've seen that uses a taller end which the smoke will be attracted to, and an open end so the fire can breathe. Most people seal up a circle tight and the fire can't breathe. I'll be using your design this spring.
I love this design. I would like to know what's under the first layer of bricks and where did you purchase the set of grates for cooking? Thanks for sharing.
I had a flat piece of metal in my shop for the metal shelf. Buy this at a local welding shop. Try Amazon for the part I hammered down in the ground. Thx for watching!
I recently build my fire pit. I decided to use granite. I bought rip rap at a landscape company and used the largest and flattest ones. Worked out great. I'll have to post a video.
Hi, Thank you for watching. The steel plate is just a hot shelf for anything wrapped in alum foil. I think it is about 1/8 inch thick, and around 6in wide and 24 inches long. Sure comes in handy.
Creative but why go through all that work when you cook over aluminum foil? Use stainless steel grates and they’ll never rust so you can cook over it any time
Looks good 👍🏽
thanks for watching!
Ive been binging your videos since about 3am when they found me... So many great ideas! New Sub
Thanks for watching!
What's the purpose of the metal plate by chance? Cooking grill???
Just a metal shelf any reason you might need one, and Thanks for watching!

Great looking burger
Nice real nice!!!

How do the landscaping bricks hold up with the heat? I've thought of doing this but wasn't sure.
So far so good, but I really have not used it much. Thanks for watching!
I love this design. I would like to know what's under the first layer of bricks and where did you purchase the set of grates for cooking? Thanks for sharing.
The ground is under the first layer of bricks. Search Amazon for metal camp grills. Thx for watching.
@@SStewartBibleProduction no. There's definitely a paving stone on something on the ground. What is it?
@@Kankudai those are 12x12x2 landscape blocks. Good observation. And thx for watching.
flat stone; very thin flat landscape stone that was already there. thanks for watching!@@Kankudai
Great video. Does the design help with reducing the smoke?
No, the smoke is still the same. Thanks for watching!
@@SStewartBibleProduction it will still have smoke, but with the end being higher isn't the smoke attracted to that end? Appears that it would.
I had some landscape blocks explode under high heat so be careful.
Good point and thanks for watching.
Awesome
Where did you get the grill part and the stuff you pounded in the ground

Looks like the kind you might be able to “borrow” from your local municipal park 😁
Are these blocks fire rates? If so, what is the brand? Have any cracked? I am having trouble finding inexpensive fire rated block.

What are the dimensions when built? Has anyone used rebar so that grates could rest on them when used for cooking and removed when used as fire pit?
Sorry; I am not sure of the dimensions. We took this grill down later and built another one, but thanks for watching!
Hi Dr. Stewart. Thank you for sharing. What a great design! I was wondering what the size and thickness of the steel plate?
Hi, Thank you for watching. The steel plate is just a hot shelf for anything wrapped in alum foil. I think it is about 1/8 inch thick, and around 6in wide and 24 inches long. Sure comes in handy.
Mr. Greenbrier probably 1/8 of an inch. Thx for watching.
What exactly are the two flat metal pieces used?
Kimsherri Sanders I used those two lift up the back a little bit. Thx for watching.
What's the base
The base is a piece of thin granite that was already on the ground. Thanks for watching!
are those regular bricks or refractory bricks?
Juan Carlos Ottavianelli jr regular. Thx for watching.
This design looks like it might have potential for a vertical rotisserie like you traditionally see gyros being cooked on.
Yes; I have actually thought about that. Thanks for watching!
I would want mine taller
Build it anyway you want. I wanted a ground level camp fire feel to it. Thx for watching.
pardon me. I wonder the metal piece on 3:45 is for? restrict the wind flow or as a cooking platform? thanks
cooking platform; mainly for things like metal coffee pot or just to part something wrapped in aluminum foil; thanks for watching!
I used epoxy when I built mine. I think it was an unnecessary step
Thanks for watching!
My dog started gruffing at the 7 brick layer lol
Thanks for watching!
Hi great video!!! Please excuse my dumbness but what is the name of the type of brick used? Do they have a particular name. Thank you.
Just landscape bricks. Thanks for watching!
Cowboy collect wood, make big fire and collect more wood. Indian collect wood make small fire, keep warm.
Thanks for watching!
Why didn’t you put the burgers on the metal plate?
The metal plate is not a cooking plate; it is more like a place to park food wrapped in alum foil like corn or potatoes. Thanks for watching!
What time are jjyour n leaving for the next next meeting and and we’ll I ojj get together ifor
