This makes me confused a bit so did they remake the animation and just remove the bazingas or did they go into the animations 20+ year old files and delete them or did they do neither and just edit it out frame by frame

At the time the director John Lasseter had literally been fired by Disney for trying to make computer animated films a thing, so this Knick Knack film was kind of an F-YOU to Disney and indeed won Pixar an Oscar, proving John right and Disney wrong. 14 years later when disney owned pixar they re-rendered it for Finding Nemo, and John says it was his decision to make the changes. As for them never re-releasing the original, it would only be slightly better quality than what we see here, which had no doubt already been distributed on tapes to people. but I agree and would love to see a higher quality scan of the original film print.
