Pris is the most memorable female Replicant in Blade Runner for me. Especially thanks to Daryl's beautiful mark on the role. I loved her scenes with Sebastian.
She was bigger than Stacey and more acrobatic. That is what earned her the part. If Stacey had a martial arts background then she would've gotten the part because the audience wouldn't be aware of how dangerous she is until she faced Harrison Ford.
The best thing about Hannah's performance was her ability to tap into the uncanny valley. Every once in a while she'd let you see behind the mask Pris was wearing, and it was in those moments that you saw the Replicant. That was genius, not to mention terrifying. I've only seen the like with Summer Glau in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, that ability to give you the impression that what you were looking at what only appeared to be a homo sapiens. There was a scene where she - a Terminator - was posing as a ballerina. The way Glau did it, though, did not look like an actor showing off her dance skills, it looked like a Terminator had run ballerina.exe, and when the program ended, it ended at a dead stop.
That's pretty much my impression. Why did she walk away from Deckard to attack again? Because Pris was trying to fight according to her instincts, which is just fascinatingly *weird*, she wasn't like the other combat replicants who were exceedingly efficient and powerful. She was just weird, which is incredibly memorable and an incredible trait to bring to the table. Hannah really had a spectacular presence.
I'm glad Daryl Hannah didn't see the others there for the screen test. She might have freaked out when she saw how beautiful all of the other girls were and seconded guessed her instincts on how she should look.
daryl had the right instincts to play pris - she helped create the cyberpunk look. the other girls were too conventional looking and i suspect would've played them as humans instead of fake humans.

After she did see the others auditioning for the part, she cried because she was so sure she missed the opportunity because she made her character into a "monster." If she had seen the others before she would have dolled herself up instead and someone else would have been in the movie. The casting was 100% perfect, casting someone else would have been a shame.
OK this casting director could cast my movie any fucking day. The cast was perfect. I mean perfect. Daryl did come off as sort of a doll. A very scary confused doll. Like someone you'd want to be with even though you might die from it but you think to yourself well it might be worth it. Did you ever meet someone like that? A woman like that Daryl electrified the screen every shot she was in. She was a huge part of why this movie is called a visual masterpiece... which it is.
I had no idea what Daryl Hannah had to do to get the part of Pris. Very inventive! But I think her physical height certainly was a major factor in the role, as well. She was, in essence, a killer, so being tall and rangy really worked to her advantage.
i didn't realize that Hannah had created this look for Pris. The director had the right instinct to let the actresses do their own makeup. Shows how much craftmanship Daryl brought to the table.
Even the people/scenes cut out are beautifully special for being part of the process of such a mythical movie. There are only winners here. I'd been happy simply to have been able to make their tea!
Debbie Harry was first choice for pris. But the record company said it would be wrong for her. To this day regrets listening to them look at her in the heart of glass video when she was offerd the part she would not have needed a wig like daryl did. But Harrison Ford is 6ft1 Daryl is about 5ft11 so she was perfect for this role.
William Sanderson was a brilliant choice. And why he never got to contribute to the Deadwood interview extras on the DVD is a real...shame. (I don't really like to use that word, but..) And I know, since I was able to contact Sanderson, that he was disappointed in not being able to be interviewed, as he was far off during that time. I asked his wife in an email to tell him, don't worry about it, do a later interview and put it on youtube..
I think Daryl did a great job as Pris. But if I had my way, I would've choose Stacey Nelkin and my reason is this; watching her performance in the screen test had me startled. Since she looked so beautiful, especially the size of her height, she had the quality of a child-like with such an innocent expression. Yet, there's more than meet the eyes and her "innocent" look could terrifyingly fool anyone in this movie. I think to me, Stacey would've been a perfect choice and Pris would've been a unique villain. That's just my theory.

It was an interesting choice to cast Pris this way at all. In the book, Pris is actually a clone of Rachael Rosen (Tyrell), she has just chosen to call herself by a different name to differentiate herself from the others.
Can't believe there sre so few comments, she was so key to this film! Of course they all performed majestically. Something about that masterpiece goes beyond it's time and modality. So rich with relevance and timelines, even as it is timeless in a way. I once told my wife five or so wild scenes from my dream that night. The next evening we rented this film, and it so happened that every scene matched up. Yes I had seen it before (no pun intended) so it may have subconsciously influenced our decision. "Then again, who knows"...
Daryl Hannah is really pretty, but Stacey Nelkin is so gorgeous and angelic and her perfect body and physical beauty are absolutely mesmerizing aswell. Stacey is a real brunette Venus in all senses.

That is why for me this movie is really special. They start as the villains. But as the movie develop we learn about their sensibility and will to be live, to be happy.

Hannah was well cast as Pris. It's too bad, however, that the role was so minor and didn't really add much to the film, other than the final fight scene where she dies. Blame that on the structure of the script.
As a Harrison Ford fan, I'm glad he did not become a director ... he's always a little too politically correct and moralistic about what the movie should convey (example, he thinks Deckard being human gives the movie something for the audience to root for .. but to me its just trying to comply to movie goer's expectations rather than exploring a ground breaking thought concept) and here his choice of actresses to play Rachel is a lot more conservative and less adventurous than Ridley's ...

Darkness, is about lies, and hatred ("pushing away") - the opposite of "knowing", intimacy. In sodom, the men of sodom surrounded Lot's house, demanding to know the two men who were with him. It was as if they all knew each other, and were not content with that knowledge. And so, when news came that there were two men, new, in town - they all gathered around. It was like that movie, Poltergeist, where the sad spirits surround, and will not let, Carol-Ann, "the light of hell", go, away, from them. What kind of a man desires to know another man? One who hates being alone with himself? Who does not have a relationship with LOVE? And he who has that light, shining from within, will he attempt to protect himself, hiding from others - being "shy"? Blade Runner, the very title, suggests, a figure skater. Beauty, performance, to distract, or attract?
Can't imagine anybody else doing Pris as fabulously as Daryl. The clash betweeen the zombie look and perfect/athletic physique was perfect as well.

As a 10 years kid at the time of the movie, I must have watched it 30 times… it takes you in wild ride with all kind of emotions. Love it

In the book replicants are depicted like evil and negative characters, they show no "human" emotions at all, they're monochromatic

I'm very surprised they'd let a first-time actor make a call like that. Usually I figured casting and the director made the biggest call on that.
