    In this video I have build a magnetic drill press with a microwave transformer. I've used a 12V/10A power adapter for the magnets.
    The rack is a modul 1 with a pinion with 30 teeth.

    This press has worked like a charm for my projects ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with.This was an excellent purchase for $40!!

    И тем не менее по факту у него такой инструмент теперь есть, а у меня, всего такого умного, нет :). Всё равно,
    Sam's Workshop Diary, спасибо за идею и подробную съемку процесса.

    How did you wire up the two microwave transformers? I'm guessing you kept the primaries (the windings that would normally be connected to mains power), wired them in series, and connected them to your 12VDC 10A power supply. And were those transformers designed for 240VAC mains power? That was a very nice looking build, and I love that you just built the damn thing, instead of talking and talking the whole time.

    • @samsworkshopdiary5748
      @samsworkshopdiary5748  4 роки тому +1

      Thank You very much! I put the primaries parallel to the transformer so that each got the 12v. I previously roughly calculated how much current the winding could take and at 12v DC the current fits quite well. My transformers were designed for 240V AC I think for a 115V AC you need a lower DC voltage.

    ficou muito bonito, o problema é que o atrito do metal com metal fará com que crie folgas ao longo do tempo de uso devido ao desgaste do aço, o ideal seria fazer com rolamentos ou buchas de nylon...

      Yo estaba pensando lo mismo, y no sería tan difícil tampoco ya que hizo todo los cables por su propio. Creo que todavía puderia, si lo quería. Eso es lo único parte que yo cambiaría. Quiero construir uno y me gusta mucho este video!
