If the model name is the same then nothing has changed. So if the video is labeled 550X it's still the same model. If your referring to the older 550L to this then there is a decent list of changes to the 550X
I have a 550X Dominator and I fly it with a Spektrum DX8 and I love it! I fly all my helis, planes and my jet all on the DX8, it feels great, works awesome and I've never had a problem with it ever! Have fun in this awesome hobby!!

I also remember the trex450 skids going around the fronts and backs of rows of computer monitors as well :)

spektrum is overpriced, go for a tx16s

Yes you can use Spektrum no problem. The Futaba quality is just better in the long run.
