They are pretty common here in AZ. They are not aggressive towards people, but they're not particularly timid either. If you leave them alone you'll be fine. I have never met anyone who has been stung by one. Of course, everybody around here knows to leave them alone, so that doubtless contributes to the rarity of stings.
Solitary wasps tend to sting less than eusocial members of Hymenoptera, though I haven't encountered this one. I'm not sure why you're calling it unfortunate, as parasitic reproduction is pretty standard for a large portion of solitary wasps. I like to view them as nature's regulators: If there are a lot of grasshoppers, you get a lot of Prionyx for example.
These are everywhere here in az long as u don't bother them they cool af,also coyote peterson, has like 23mil subs out here in az he did it recently and it was funny to watch his agony😂

Awesome video! This video makes me glad I am not a spider!

These things can make even arachnophobes feel bad for spiders...
It's pretty bad when you see one around cause now you have this crazy wasp and tarantulas hiding somewhere.
I got stung by a blue spider wasp and that was a debilitating pain .
😵 No bueno!!
I saw a jumping spider kill one of these. It wasn't the size of my hand though. 😅
Just play new vegas, they're about the size of dogs and despise everything
Its kind of a weird name too. Like how do you go from a hawk to a tarantula when this is neither of them?
Because, like the hawk, it is a flying predator and the tarantula is it's prey.
@@BurtonShotton that’s like calling a bug that hunts ants an Ant-Lion or something
