    Join us as we travelled 1000 miles from the UK to go to an disused Ford Dealership in Germany.. inside are Sierras, an Escort, A MK2 Fiesta, and an Orion.. all brand new and locked in a time warp since around 1986.
    In the video we see: Green Ford Sierra base model 5 door hatchback, Red Ford Sierra 1.6L 5 door hatchback, Blue Ford Sierra estate, Ford Fiesta S MK2, A Ford Escort 1.1 Laser MK3, and a Ford Orion 1.6 D CL.
    Update: So we have been overwhelmed by the comments, in the most part very positive.
    The same questions keep popping up, and now after the video has been published we have now found more information:
    The Ford dealer closed in the mid 80s. It was a very large dealer, as it had a stock of over 300 cars. The owner continued to be an independent car dealer until his death in 1994. He had 300 cars on site, including 150 new Ford cars left over stock from his dealership days. In 1995, the family who owned all the buildings sold off the majority of his cars including most of the new ones. These unsold cars you see here were moved into the showroom, which was then left as a memorial to the owner. The widow kept the building maintained, clean and tidy, and presumably the cars cleaned etc. She would from time to time allow people to come in and view the cars. At some point someone stole some parts from the cars (guessing the wheel trims and one spotlight) and this put an end to welcoming visitors. The widow kept the place maintained but ended up in a care home. Now the family have not kept up the upkeep of the cars / building and this is how they stand today. I didn’t know all this when I made the video otherwise I would have included this information. Thanks for all the positive comments, I can assure you this is not “staged” or “fake”, I would have much preferred getting inside the building legitimately to have a proper look at these cars. Hope this clears up any confusion.

      The rarest car I ever owned was a MK1 Fiesta Supersport, the MK2 Sport is in this showroom. They only sold a couple of thousand SS's in the UK so that little fiesta in the showroom could be quite collectable. Steel wheels deflate really, really slowly compared to alloys (Alloys tend to be slightly porous no matter how well they’re painted). I think the owner of the building does dust the cars down occasionally, so they probably inflate the tyres too.

    As the owner of a Ford Orion Mk2, it’s very interesting for me to see what these cars looked like at the dealer’s showroom. my father drove our Orion in 1997 from Hannover to Nikolaev, Ukraine. I still drive it and try to keep it in good condition as much as possible. for example, it is difficult to get original spare parts such as a bumper, radiator, etc. rust appears on the wheel arches and door sills, but I am very pleased with the condition of the car, the electric window lifters still work and most of the parts under the hood are still original, I drive 200 - 300 km a day and work as a courier with this car. I catch myself thinking how much I like this car and I would gladly not buy a new car, but exchange mine for the same Orion that is in this showroom.

    I wish they still made cars like these in 2024. They're so simple, appealing, easy to maintain and efficient. I still have my 1999 Fiat Punto mk1 and it drives great with no issues whatsoever. Sure, the materials are cheap and it's a little cheap city car, but I have no problems with it. Barely any tech in it as well, just how I like it.

    Just passed my driving test when these now classics were a common sight on our roads. Most Sierra's were rep cars and called "jelly mould" design by the press, when they were released. Quite an innovative design compared to the Cortina Mk5 that it replaced. Very interesting video. Looking forward to more great content.

I have to keep my e-bike in the living room and I can't park it anywhere. And if they can't steal it they will make sure to break it so you don't get it. The Escort is a mk3 and Orion is 2nd generation … so I’m saying 1986 as this was when the Escort / Orion changed. I remember those cars very well as we had those models on our car rental fleet in the ‘80’s … if I could take any one of them, it would be the Sierra Estate with the Fiesta S a close second. The Sierra with the old style grille and single bumper should be a 84/85 car with the old ohc pinto type engines . when did the Orion get launched think it came first then ford upgraded the escort to mk4 with same front in early 86.

      The Orion was originally launched in 1983 as an ‘84 model, a booted version of the mk3 Escort. Both the Escort and Orion changed to the mk4 in early ‘86. The Sierra was face lifted in ‘87.

      @@gwelsby7694The Sierra also had a mild facelift in autumn 1984 and lost the slatted front grille on most models, plus had some changes to interior trim such as different head rests. The green Sierra in particular is from before that facelift, and looks like an 83 model to me. I think these cars aren't actually all from the same year and span from 1983 to 1986 or 87.

      @@sandersson2813 it would be a shame as these are way too good for that. There could be a sentimental collector out there willing to take them on and give them some tlc. Ford itself might find value in them as diplay pieces, especially as they have the means to make some of them period correct fully loaded examples. Anyway, I guess it will come down to the kids (if there are any) as the current owner is in care. She was the one who set up the site as a memorial to her husband and made sure it was maintained until she couldn't anymore.

      @@sandersson2813 You may say that cars like this are ten a penny, But to get parts for these cars is almost impossible, And as far as not being that of that much interest i would disagree with you, No disrespect intended of course, But these are run of the mill cars that are as common as hens teeth so will have a market value in so far as they are rare cars to be at such a low mileage, They should be kept as is, and not allowed to be broken up for spares. I mean how often do you see a perfect condition 80s car that had millions on the road only 40 years ago. I only ever see Orions and escorts these days as garage queens that get one day out on the road a year if they are lucky. And the value will just keep going up as they age.

      @sandersson2813 Рік тому

      @@chrisgreenfield1061 I didn't say they should be broken up I simply said there isn't that much interest in bog standard cars which were never classics and never destined to be classics.
      If these were Jags, BMW's, Bentley's or something that were split new they'd be worth a fortune, but in Germany, where these cars are, Ford is not a beloved marque and interest in them will be fairly minimal.
      I agree they should be given a good home, as they are a rare time capsule, but they aren't especially classic. They're just old, ordinary, drab cars from a point in history. Great to see, but if they were in a car museum among genuinely interesting and beautiful cars, would you really be that interested?
