- Almost 3 months after their arrival from Larry's Truck & Electric (LTEX) in McDonald, Ohio to their new home on Greenville & Western Railway, GRLW 4203 (Ex. BNSF 2409) & GRLW 4204 (Ex. BNSF 2451), began test runs on Friday, 10/17/14. The plan is to work out all the bugs in both units, before they receive the same cosmetic overhaul as AIKR 4201 & 4202, so no they won't look like this for long!
Since I had the honors of being conductor on their 'debut' run on Friday, I chose to come out and chase their second run on GRLW Z590-19 Sunday, which was my off day. So after receiving word of their on duty time I ventured out to capture the action. Enjoy!
Back in the 90's those GP30/35's got kicked out of Cal. because of that smoke. They then became very common on the 1400 series locals from Newton/ Ark City, via Wichita. That was a special time.
Sweet! Enjoy them. Hope they're running this winter ;)
Sounds like an old Conrail RS3 on the 4204 with a bad diaphragm. Love it anyways sure has a unique tone. Being that I'll be moving to the area soon, I can't wait to see the GRLW in action. Excellent video.
UPSTATE RAIL VIDEO PRODUCTIONS Thank you have you moved to the area yet?
I have. Right now I live in Easley, but we're moving to Williamston in the fall to be closer to work.
Awesome! Looking forward to it! Hopefully you'll be able to get plenty of videos of us in action and make us popular on UA-cam lol
How often do y'all operate on weekends?
Sunday is almost 99% that we run. Saturday we're on call for units trains, but I can't remember the last Saturday I've worked.
Amazing diesel sound. Nice locations. Very cool and unusual horn. I have seen many American train videos, but I never stumbled across such a horn.
But I'm not an expert. I am from Germany.
Thumbs up! :)
Greetings

The first horn you heard is a Nathan k3la, and the second is a Leslie RS3L, and despite these sounding weird to you, these were common horns in the 80's on Santa Fe.
good video, but man did they ugly up those ex Santa Fe's.
I've seen the same locomotives before. But before the green was added to them
Hopefully they paint them soon!
Wesley Barnett GRLW 4204 should be completed in a couple months!
I still don't think they have been painted yet. But it still looks good like this!
Nope, they've been put on the back burner. 4204 is in full primer though.
Sweet!
New GP30's? C'mon. I was born in 1961, and those Geeps are as old as I am.
Ugly colors, and that horn sounds off
Who cares? Its awesome in my opinion.
