That's the problem with all these videos, they don't show a close up or diagram how the gin pole attaches which next to the additional stays is the most important part. Other than that, great video and helpful.
Great. Thanks so much for all of your post... I have a 14ft dingley and I'm now ready to make the leap into purchasing a larger boat.. All your videos are exactly the boats that I've been looking at.. I need your opinion as to which boat you like the best..????... Catalina 22,macgregor 26,mcgregor19 or the Hunter 19...( Your opinion will play heavily on my purchase)
Nice job Greg but - You left out the use of your mini shrouds (which you have attached to your stanchions) - and to the ??? mainsail halyard? I usually attach my mini shrouds to the spinnaker ring on the mast. The mini shrouds are critical to prevent the mast from moving port and starboard as the mast rises. When the mast is below 45° it is VERY unstable laterally otherwise - because the main shrouds are slack.
I believe they must be attached on either side of the mast pivot point. The length would depend on how far apart they start and how high up the mast they attach to. If they are not on either side of the mast pivot point (aft/fore or up/down) they will either get tighter or looser as the mast rises.
That's cool , you are right there at the gin pole stopping it from falling over . Safety stays on the pivot plane of the mast. Good job
Jaki jest minimalny prześwit przeszkód przy położonym maszcie i podstawionej bramce?
Good video thanks! How does the gin pole attach to the mast?? Do you have a close up photo, Thanks

where can you get the pole raising system?
great system. Thanks
Where did you purchase the block and tackle for the gin pole? Need one for Catalina 18. thank you
Check out Catalinadirect.com they may have something
@@gregripko ok, thanks
Just noticed the other comments. Nice boat. Stable. Would not feel comfortable in high winds but I still consider myself a novice
good job made to look easy. I'll try the same on mine.
where do yo buy the mast rising system and how much?
It came with the boat luckily…. I no longer have this boat regretfully… I now have a Mac 26x
show mast step ?
Cheer~~a tall upright post, spar, or other structure on a ship or boat, in sailing vessels generally carrying a sail or sails.😊
I need to buy block tackle /pulley/winch stuff for my 19 ft Oday... where is a good place for a good deal , thanks
Just use your main sheet and blocks.
How big is that mast
What size boat I guess
Thanks for video!! Have any idea of how to do on a large boat? Like a Morgan 35?
Unfortunately not…. UA-cam is a great source though.
does your roller furling have foils?
Does the hunter heel and flop like the Mac?
How do you determine how long the baby stays need to be? I have a boat recently purchased, and have never seem the mast up.
The baby stays came preset…. No adjustment needed as they used pelican hooks to tighten

If you're doing this in the street, look for powerlines.
💥💥💥
most awesome! I have a hunter 260, I do it the same way.
Important point, Make sure the boat is aimed into the wind, or else!!!!!!!
very good friend, but how long is this mast?
Brilliant! ty
5 minutes is NOT FAIR. The setup time and put-away rigging items was not accounted for. Other than that, I enjoyed your video demonstration Greg.
Very good
The gin poles going into the base of the mast not the "top" as you said .lol
Hey Greg. Do you want to sell your boat ? Thanks.
Already sold it a while back…. I now own a Macgregor 26x
@0.38 "top of the mast" ????????? This is the FOOT of the mast!
Correct….. foot
Looks dangerous
