  • Some people asked me how to play this stuff I posted some weeks ago. So I try to explain it in this video. I'm french, my english is not perfect, and this is the first time I make a video like that, so thanx for being indulgent :D
    Tablatures in gp5 and pdf there :

    If you think this video is good and useful, I'll try to add some more in the future (probably about other tapping easy licks, or about harmonics)

    Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video. I didn't get anything for Christmas. But I consider someone presenting the opportunity to learn something very cool a gift in itself. Again, thank you very much.

    Fantastic work. I have been playing guitar for about twenty years now, both classical and electric. I had given up the whole idea of playing this piece, because alternating between and open pedalstring and a melody string was out my reach. Until i stumbled on your picking solution. Very musical, compared to mechanical picking - and so easy to master (at least compared to other transcriptions i have seen) once get used to the idea. The text while playing instead of talking is very helpful. Tnx!

    @srojas7 Thank you. I played a lot of guitar between september and december; I tried to improve my technique and made a lot of exercices. Too much work with my finger without warming. Usually when you have tendinitis, you have to stop playing at least 2 or 3 weeks and if that doesn't solve the problem, you should have a scan of your hand to see how is your tendon. If you don't stop playing, things can deteriorate; your problem can stay more time and sometimes stays all your life...

    @srojas7 About what I felt before. First I had little ache when I wake up in the morning when I bend my finger. Then 1 hour after when the body is totally woken, no ache anymore. And no ache when I play . So after a few days with ache only in the morning, I have been woken up in the night by a violent ache on the finger. But at this moment it was too late and it was a real tendinitis. In fact, the sign of alarm is when you start to feel ache in the morning. At this moment you have to be careful.

    It's easier with a good delay and compressor, but the most important is the way you tap. With some practise, you can easily made all the notes sound.

    hi! great vid' and nice technique! (and beautifull song ofc) I was trying to play it w/ alternate picking with mediator, but so much hard compared to the tapping's technique, after some time of picking technique i wasn't able to do the first lick on g string and with your technique i done it in 5 minutes lol!
    but in the second part when I have to tap 1 time of 4, i have some problem to make ring the notes following the tapped one, any idea of how to do, or it's just a question of practice?

  • @StephLeGratteux
    @StephLeGratteux  13 років тому

    @mits0takhs17 I think it's better with distorsion but you can also tap in clean sound :D (check out Midnight from Satriani). About the pickup, no matter. Maybe you right fingers need some practise; when their edge will will harder, it will be easier to tap and no need to tap very hard.
