I’ve been practicing a whole CAGED pathway on another popular guitar lessons site but kept dragging my feed when it came to applying it to their practice songs. I always come back to Brian's lessons, listen to his simplified take on things and then practice one of his songs instead. It just gives these concepts so much more purpose to play his songs AND learn them ‘in the style of’ an artist at the same time.
You don't need to be a guitar player to enjoy visiting this site. That was so good, enough to make you want to play guitar, even if you don't. Brian, I find your attack, the varying intensity superb. Thank you for the immense help you put out there.
I love these electric “by yourself” videos, I wish you’d do more of them. I like playing electric but I (and I imagine a lot of people these days) don’t have easy access to other people to jam with, and I want to be able to play cool things by myself without needing a looper or a jam track.
The wisdom in your videos is so condensed (triads, scales, CAGED, 6th, 7th and 9th chords in different positions,...) that I can spend days and days in a single 20 minutes video, learning new different ways of playing the guitar. It's a bit mentally tiring but for sure it is absolutely worth it. Thank you.
This is exactly how I like to learn, break it down and build it back up again......even if I do end up with a few screws left over at the end. Love it.
I've been here long enough to remember those old days of solo lessons, Brian. I don't feel old at all. 😉 Ha ha. 🤣 Feels like we're old friends at this point. 😊 You're still killing it, pal. 🫡
these lessons are diamonds very well explained , it lessons like this that is easy to retain, love it , cheers Brian been following you for 6 years now , I've learned so much from your lessons , you have a way of teaching that just clicks with me,
I found your youtube channel today. I felt stuck in a rut for years, not being able to learn anything new. But this channel has saved the day! I've had the most fun I've had in a long time learning some of these techniques 😁 Thank you!
Excellent Lesson Brian! Playing guitar on your own with both lead and chords, @ chord Triads and without a Looper pedal. Beautiful self accompaniment that you broke down so Well making it Easier to Learn and Play. Looking forward to your follow up part B Lesson. Thankyou Very Much Brian for the Thought you put into making these Lessons and All Of your Time, Work and Effort. 5*****
Great lesson to stumble across. Nice playing and very clear explanation without get too far into the weeds. I'll be checking more of your stuff out. Thanks
Great tune! I love your “blues by yourself lessons” and your cristal clear explanations on note choices. I always have problems to get the rhythm down. Maybe sometime you can make a video on that, if you haven’t already. Kind regards from Chile 🇨🇱
Another!!!Excellent lesson, we are so lucky to have you on the tube...love your channel, I believe to be one of, if not, the best for any player who wants to know the mechanics of melody while developing a mental map of the fret board. So well done, thank you !!!
Really a lot of information for me, but I take it easy, lick by lick, and work with some of them. Love this stand alone stuff, they are what I enjoy the most. Tks!!! 👍
No but really. This is good stuff. Nobody ever would show you things like this. Only Sir Brian the Great. Sir Brian the great he was. Thanks Brian. I totally get what you are saying. I think we need to Make a holiday off work in the name of Sir Brian the great. Sir Brian the great he is!
@@activemelody been following you for at least 3 years I'd sell my soul to just learn this lesson. Please please please teach me. And send PDF for this .I will out this on loop till you rescue me 🌹🌹. I also follow on F B
I really appreciate these lessons. Think of Lightning Hopkins, Snooks Eaglin and other electric players who often played without back up. Yours are THE best intermediate lessons on YT.
You are the master my friend. Love everything you do. You have no idea how my playing has come under you. Thank you very much. Think about doing one on one lessons. You will sell out
T bone Walker classic style, very Nice. I know a fellow who lives in this Realm, plays in blues Rockabilly band with upright bass, 3 piece band. Nice lesson. I am old enough played way back in 70's, BEFORE CAGED was ever taught, that is a worthwhile look up on internet search, where or who COINED the phrase Caged system, it was a author for Guitar Player magazine, or one of the Guitar mags, sometime in the mid 80's. We learned most of this stuff by EAR of RECORDS. In the mid to late 70's it was all BOX system stuff. People learning today got it made.
yes! These are always my favorite lessons. Keep them coming Brian! So good. And how about a follow up to your fantastic Tony Joe White video. Always want more TJW.
The the G dominant 7 shape off of the A shape was an eye opener as well as the use of it in part 2. I drew a connection on that shape from the first position B7 shape. I was familiar with the movable D7 shape going in but knowing that other shape is really cool too. That 6th moves into the F7 in the beginning was really insightful too. Another great lesson. Been enjoying EP 421 this week too. Might transpose it to C and indulge the key of C for the next week with both and other C blues you've put up. I like the 6ths in there too. Another awesome lesson Brian. I hope to put some of my playing on the members site soon. Thanks
Excellent demonstration & instruction, really fired me up to have a go! I'm a bass player with electric guitar basic lead ambitions so this is ideal. I'm intrigued how the minor pentatonic works over the major key, will definitely utilise that fact. Thank you
Ok I'm only half way through this video. This is the butter on the bread. This stuff is priceless. This is how people learn. Amazing.. Thanks Sir Brian the great. Sir Brian the great he was......
Awesome explanation .... thanks for all the videos you put out...I never comment on these but you can are really good at explaining your techniques.... thanks 👍
I completely agree with @lucienne66 below. These pieces are a goldmine and I wish you made more of them. Playing on your own is pretty much the norm these days and I really appreciate the material to work with - and they sound great too 🙂
I like this kind of stuff more than the X shape series that came before. I prefer to have a new song to learn and then you explain the theory underneath the choice of a lick or chord
When you do this imporvisation do you count the beats mentally? I mean do you play a 12 bar blues structure? You know like now I go to I, now I go to IV, now I go to V etc.... or do you just change from triad to triad approximately where it feels right? I have a little confusion about this I don't get it just by listening to your composition. Thanks you in advance and also for this wonderful lesson.
I just came across your channel and I’m loving it! I’m looking forward to learning to play blues from your lessons. I just bought a used Tele Nashville with Duncan pickups. I wanted to ask if you would give me your opinion on the best amp for use in my home? Thanks in advance!
Really tasteful playing and melodic note choice. Single note solos are great but unless you have a playing partner or backing track they become an exercise in technique, in my opinion.
Play alone lessons you do are the best out there Brian. Thank you!

Totally agree with this comment 👍🏻🇮🇪
Thank you, Brian! There are just gold nuggets in every part of this lesson!
This is what I like. Me my guitar and my couch.

Use of GAGED at its best! I can visualize 🧐 all the shapes. And that's another tasty standalone composition🎸
This is exactly how I like to learn, break it down and build it back up again......even if I do end up with a few screws left over at the end. Love it.
A guitar is someone's hands playing the blues is a beautiful thing. 😀
The best guitar channel on UA-cam.
When I heard this, I was wondering why it sounded so good, tight lesson Brian.
Those standalone lessons are the best!!! And you’re the only ONE that does them so well for us to enjoy! 🙏💕
Many Thanks Brian, for this „how-to-use-it-workshop“ following your great CAGED series! Brilliant and inspiring!
Another beautiful lesson. Thank you. This is why I became a member so long ago...
I've been here long enough to remember those old days of solo lessons, Brian. I don't feel old at all. 😉 Ha ha. 🤣
Feels like we're old friends at this point. 😊
You're still killing it, pal. 🫡
This is exactly the type of arrangement that I hope to be able to create on my own someday. Thanks for putting these lessons together Brian.
What a brilliant lesson for my neophyte knuckles...❤ Thank you Brian!
rediscovering your guitar with these lessons is golden. instead of tabs, explaining why this stuff works is key.
Great exercise using the shapes on the cage. Thanks, Vince
This is gold!! What a great teacher..
As always, you are so incredible!
It's on my list for things to learn. Nice tutorial, especially as I can't be arsed with jam tracks. Thanks!!!
I like this because it’s not like learning a known song so I don’t have pre conceived thoughts or feelings about it. Thanks for another great lesson!

Hi Brian, another good caged delight.
Very tastefully arranged. I'm planning on re-activating my membership soon, as I'll finally have more time to spend practicing.
Awesome tutorial. Earned my subscription!
Really a lot of information for me, but I take it easy, lick by lick, and work with some of them.

Very good lesson, demystifying classic blues riffs etc.
Love it you make it so simple thanks
Excellent video ... as always . Never disappointed, always learning something. Thank you Sir ! 🙏
Finally someone just stays in C. No sharps no flats. Sooo much simpler to learn the fretboard and related majors n minors overlaps.
Nice tone.
No sharps, no flats?

I sometimes use a looper to create my own backing track. These compositions Brian creates are great.
Love it, but I can't follow you with all those chords 😂. Very much a beginner.
I wish I could do this stand alone lead someday.
