I remember this moment so clearly, and its one of my top video game moments ever. I remember how for the first time, a game evoked me into action. Like I had felt intensity or nerves from the challenge of a game, but never personal emotions like worry, and care for someone which was Midna. For the first time, my actions in a game had weight, and that weight was my own regret if I failed to save Midna who I liked, and I had never been exposed to that type of gameplay before. TP holds a place in my heart.
100% the music is what carries that game scene, myself i wasn't even particularly attached to Midna as a character but when Zant messed her up and the music kicked in there was absolutely no question that i was gonna haul her to Zelda as fast as i possibly could
TP and Majora's Mask are games that really tried teaching lessons to us as we played them but only now as an adult do I realize the lessons they were trying to teach me. LOZ will always and forever be my favorite series because of the emotions they caused me to feel, no other game made me feel this way and it's special to me.
Midna, barely breathing, holding on in hopes that link will make it in time and be able to save his home: One fucking bokoblin on its way to ruin the moment:
It's hard to hold back tears from the emotional feelings, and nostalgia I get from hearing this beautiful work of art. Twilight Princess will always be my favorite Zelda game of the franchise.
The only game that has ever made me ugly cry, even a second time after randomly remembering this moment. It was so shocking and I thought it was timed like how some of the events are in the game so I was just freaking the heck out coupled with being stuck as a wolf and everyone being terrified of me and unable to communicate to them. Was really dark for me back then. Even now the song brings back a small degree of sadness. It is really beautiful though.
❤ it is a very special piece of music to me as well, like even without the game, the song itself is very like almost ... haunting but yet there's a feeling of okayness
As a kid, I didn’t feel that attached to her, but I still felt the urgency. She needed help. I made my way to the castle as quickly as I could, instantly annihilating enemies in my way or ignoring them outright instead of doing my usual fun bouts with them. This was important, I had no time to mess around.
For me, Twilight Princess is the best game ever when it comes to TLOZ franchise. Together with OOT and MM my number one. All three of those games are equally good. If they ever decide to make a Zelda movie, I hope it will be Twilight Princess!
I’ve actually thought about this a lot recently when it comes to TP music, it’s so beautifully written and works very well for a dramatic orchestra. While TP is not my favorite Zelda game I absolutely agree it would make a terrific movie if done right
Yep these 3 games defined Zelda for me. Magical, mysterious and somewhat dark and melancholic but also alot of lighthearted moments. I still cant believe they threw all of this away to make generic openworld games with cellshade look.
I remember the first time I came across this part of the game. I knew it was coming, because I got the game waaaaay after release, so I spoiled it for myself a little, but I still felt frantic trying to figure out how to save Midna. I actually got a little upset at the bokoblins that ruined the moment and forced me to kill them. There was always that lingering thought of, "Speed up! Midna's in trouble!"
The only time I played this game, I felt like I was being used by Midna for her own ego. But... when this soundtrack started playing, I could only recognise her as a truly fellow, a friend whose life was in a menacing danger, and I couldn't let it to happen. At this point of the story, my only goal was to assure her integrity and definetely save her no matter how much it took
Gave the sheet music to one of my choir teachers in high school on a lark. Walked into choir class a few days before one of our concert with her playing this on the accompanying piano. It was amazing, and I was ready to practice that day.
My life would finally be complete. I remember watching my sister play twilight princess when I was little. I couldn't play it myself though, because I was too young to comprehend a Zelda game. Our Wii broke some time after, and I never got the chance to play it. Many years later, I am obsessively hyperfixed on the Zelda series and I'm still pissed about it.
This is my favorite zelda game, god remember how midna was pale, dying, and putting trust and hope into us to save her, I remember my emtions into this game, how she grew onto me, etc, I wish I could go back and play this game for the first time.
This is possibly my favorite Zelda piece, heck, any video game piece, of all time! Thank you for making such a high quality version! Really makes the music hit much more than the other versions. 😀🌌
one of the most captivating and compelling moments i hold dearly to myself when i first heard this and a few other songs from this game as a smol boi...... now ive grown up to be an Elden Lord. such nostalgia rings with the sweetest pain
I remember I was young when I first played tp and this moment in game had me in shambles because midna was my favorite and I couldn’t bear seeing a screen saying you failed or smthn and having her die so this moment had me in tears and felt like just a race against the clock saving her
This is my favourite Zelda game of all time, and this moment is the reason. Coming to love a character, and watching them in dire need of your help forces your body into action, it's the closest I've ever been to fearing the loss of Pixels on a screen. There was no timer, no that one was in my head. Counting down with the amount of times "I have to save her. I have to save her." could sound off in my mind.
Ive only ever played tp once before and didn't hear this theme because i was laser focused on saving midna ASAP, came here from a recommendation and im glad i did. This is going in my playlist :)
I do this thing where if I'm playing a game, I like.. make the story more dramatic. (Probably because I write stories.) for example: When I was playing this part of Twilight Princess, It was like I *was* Link, My friend on my back, turning cold and dying. Their life depended on me, fighting off bulblins and stuff as I race to my friends only hope. and, this is probably up there with my "Top ten most favorite TP songs."
This one is noticeably more muted in its notes than the original, as if to reflect Midna's own state even harder, like at any moment, the song is gonna get so muted and quiet and Midna's life...will run out.
You have finally completed the forest, fire and water dungeons. You have finally gathered all three Fused Shadows. You are now leaving lakebed temple and heading to the castle to face the evil king Zant. But that won't be nescessary. He has already found you. Suddenly, all your work to save hyrule has disappeared. You are now back to your beast form, and there is no way to come back, and the only one that could help you, is now dying in your back because Zant exposed her to the spirit's light, the light that was supposed to help you, is now ending your partner's life. You must hurry and find the princess in the castle. This is the only way to save the Twilight Princess.
I haven't been spoiled and heard this song before, so when it happened in game, hearing it for the first time, I WAS LOCKED THE FUCK IN, I wouldn't care if there was like a flood or something else in real life, I had to finish this part of the game with Minda's desperate hour as soon as possible, I had all the adrenaline (physically obviously not but idk what the correct hormone is) to lift a car and help it.
I’m just truly upset that I never got to finish this game. Some kid came into our home to play with my little brothers and dropped our wii, and it was never playable ever again. I was 12-13 at the time, now 26. BUT I just found out that it’s playable on GameCube and I got my son a GameCube today as his first console. I might have to buy this game and play it again.
