i just saw your video 3 days ago, and i try to make this melody, and i did it. i also make some change in the chorus part. Nice job dude, i learned much from your video tutorial. (Btw, sorry for my bad english, i'm Indonesian)
The program is a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) called 'FL Studio' and the instrument he used is a preset from a VST (= 3rd party programs that can be used in DAWs such as FL Studio) In this case it's a virtual synthesizer called 'Nexus'. I suggest looking into those terms a little if you're interested in making music on a computer like this guy since I can't really explain everything in a UA-cam comment and I'm still quite a beginner at music production myself :)
FL was my first program I used.It was about 8 years ago and the basics of it still are the same. Then I explored RSN (started with v1.0 and continued using till v4.0.1Hybrid).When I found Ableton Live I discovered all my needs in music production in one program (but you can run any other program like RSN or FL as an instrument if you are still emotionaly atached to it).Its very easy to use hardware,VST compared to other software. But as you say,its individual and relative. Peace!
I'm starting to learn orchestral music so this helped me a ton in terms of understanding to break down several melodies as one sound rather than one big clusterfuck.
WHAT THE FUCK?!? HOW CAN YOU DO THIS?!??!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!? Why have i got no creative thinking and want to copy others?!?!?!? WHYYYYY?!??!? :(
Well, do you understand keys and scales? If not, start there - look up what a musical key is (Bm, A major, etc) and what the corresponding scale is with it. Typically, most music that's in the key of *insert key name here* follows that key, with little deviation, except for key changes. All he's doing is messing around in the key of B minor, meaning (B, C#, D, E, F#, G, A) notes. C natural will not sound as good in this scale. Then he's just picking what seems to flow with the scale. It's basically like soloing in jazz, in a way.
It's not easy. Need some work and practice. But also very fun. By the way, brain is in the most creative state when he is tired and is NOT concentrate. Sometimes I get best melody pieces when hit some notes by mistake )
If you understand how is arpegiator making those crazy beautiful tones then you progressed in the music wisdom. You can see where those tones are on piano or guitar. On electric guitar you play solo mostly in pentatonics. After I learned about arpegiator, I learned playing solo.
I've looked at numerous melody tutorials on youtube, and this one and another, "FL Studio 12 - FAST HIT MELODY CREATION " by Essential EDM, have been the best I have yet to come across. Simple steps that allow playful experimentation to yield hopefully inspired results-- yes! Thanks!
i think it is not about music knowledge, just well knowing a software and keep trying over and over and on some point u just sit, open fl,and make a melody what been flying in your head all day, cause u damm good in programing piano machine.my dad is a professional drummer , so thru the years he passed his music knowledge to me,but he don't know how to use fl, me too! so with my music knowledge i can do shit if i don't know "where to click" :) cheers!!
yes but actually i can use FL as well but when i have a melody in my head i don't know how to put it down. This is the biggest limit for an artist, the software knowledge is all about time...
Great ! Do it in a simple way and you can change the sounds later. It's amazing how this can sounds with other sounds so professional and like a best-seller !
not that ive learned anything from this, but you sure made me happy there for a few minutes ;) im gonna go ahead n try to copy n modulate this for fun, thanks !
if you click the top right button on the keypad under the place where you can change the colour of the notes you can see which notes you're writing instead of just piano bars
That is an amazing sound, I want it, it is like a piano with a soft hum in the background, beautiful sound and a very well made song to go with it... thankyou for this amazing vid
It's an external VST, meaning you must download it and install it yourself. Look up on youtube 'Flstudio 9 Nexus download and install' (or something along those lines :D)
Thank Marwan's so much. i really did it and expand just little. i have begin to find out Fl Studio. I hope you will have many short articles basically can help people learn and self-learning through without the need any public school.
piratebay isnt the only torrent tracker in the world. and if you want to access the actual piratebay, you can use proxies in order to avoid problems. for me, setting proxy to Czech works well
this reminds me about pokemon mystery dungeon what i played like ten years ago or something! amazingly beautiful and now it doesnt go away from my head. yeah.....i like it :D
Man, hands down amazing music. Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm making a song using this (which I will use for a project). I read that you don't mind, but I'd like to at least announce it, so that you can at least get a chance to say no (in which case, I will remove the song (or at least the part used in this tutorial). Again, this is absolutely amazing. Keep up the incredible work.
Daniel Garry I am doing that too. But I found this one really great, and it would fit perfectly. Of course, I'm altering on it, but I am using it as a base.
This melody is epic for a game soundtrack

one of the best films, that shows the technique of creating without any talk.Congratulations.
Does anyone else come back to this video like every other month just to listen to the melody?
Nope, personally I think it is a pretty bad melody
+Mateusz Dowgiert Yes! Especially when you have tough times and the melody is so relaxing.
Even every next year. This melody is just brilliant...
