The most beautiful house, garden, furniture, view and art collection in the world. Very wealthy people with extremely good taste; a rarity. But I hope that they were good and kind people too; that is more important and precious than any of the other things.
The views are indeed stunning but the house is "trying too hard". The interior design/decoration is too much "grand hotel" lacking in charm and comfort.
Location and view were exceptional for a community so close to NYC. The floor dropping and a pool happening was my favorite, the rest was tooo much. It was more like an expensive warehouse
Kind of home you purchase with a wagon full of gold, just after re-inventing yourself as the Count of Monte Cristo. Respectfully, it might require a few wagons full.
A tragedy that this collection and the amazing setting were not left intact and to the nation, for generations to enjoy.Watching the film made me very upset that this was just about plundering and wealth.
Why should they leave it to the nation? They bought it with their money and for their enjoyment. Now the estate is selling them off to the highest bidder, which is their right.
@@MTMF.london -Of course it is the family’s right to sell but what if, say, Dr. Barnes of Merion Penn. sold off his paintings instead of leaving them for generations to enjoy? The Frick? Isabella Gardner Home in Boston? Culture is lost, as it will be here.

The art is in the eye of the beholder as far as its worth. A painting is only as expensive as someone is willing to pay for it. Those paintings were disjointed and unbalanced in design and emotion to me. (I used to own an art gallery) They wouldn't be hanging on my walls but then people who buy this kind of art, seem to think it's some kind of lost treasure. One mans junk is another mans treasure.

@@decnijfkris3706 Disregarding the fact that English is not your first language, and I merely observe that, it is an idiotic remark. Stupidity and ignorance are the same in any country. Stop wasting yours and my time.
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 Yes I understand your concern. But why is it a stupid remark? First you catagolize me as an idiot. Then you brag about your knowledge of the English language. There are hundreds of languages in the world. And then you break off. For me you are a decadent jerk. You don't know about art at all. Go to school pipolo. You are so patatic.
I do see where you're coming from...but you have to respect the idea of having an appreciation towards these pieces. When you are in the mind of a collector, they don't look at a painting or a sculpture and view at merely as an "object", the view it in a completely different light. Why are you even watching this video if you have such views anyway?
Why do people who talk about art seem so timid and gay, and people who create art like Picasso, Matisse, Cezanne, Renoir, seem so strong, manly and robust. This reminds me of the difference between Jesus and the fake religious pretentious establishment of Jesus day. Can it maybe be that people who talk about art and give lectures about art do not have a clue what they are talking about. But I have to confess, that after studying metaphysics for 40 years, I've come to the conclusion that the only true Genius is God who spoke the universe into existence 6000 years ago in 6 literal days! Its easy calling someone an idiot when you don't know the truth or when you cant refute what the person is saying or when you cant do art yourself. You must be an atheist?

I love this house and collection
Stunning views and home

I respect that these paintings weren't locked inside the corridors of a freeport

You need a net worth of a billion to own these things
I approached the manuscript department with Sotheby's about selling my manuscript, Sean Combs The Paper Boy. I was told it is too early.
Can I give them a piece of my original art stick next to the some of the stuff they have on the wall.
