    It outperforms great ALCO locos. Speed , noise, traction and acceleration .

    Long hood forward is the main problem for locopilots 🙏🏻

    • @TheTrainStory
      @TheTrainStory  2 роки тому +1

      The EMDs were designed for MU’d operations where the long hood forward would never have come into play. In India where the locos are used as single units, the LHF visibility became a problem. IR has addressed this by adding cabs at both ends…In Europe, where single units are prevalent, EMD supplied twin cab units…

    Really good explanation of these locomotives, I learned quite a lot from this! What really interested me was the early EMD competitor with ALCO being preserved at the National Railway Museum, and the issues of running such a long locomotive with the long hood forward - EMD makes locos like that for use here in the states, where it is common to see two or three leading a train, but it definitely makes sense why some of the WDP4s had the second cab added. Good motion graphics as well!

    • @TheTrainStory
      @TheTrainStory  3 роки тому +1

      Yes the long hoods can be a hassle here in India because at least in the case of passenger trains, locomotive are not assigned in Multiple Unit configuration.

    My one peeve is, Indian railways hasn't invested in loco reversers at major locations which could reversed the loco so that loco would run with front cab /short hood ahead.
    Many times accidents have happened due to misjudgement and miscalculations done due to loco being driven with long hood ahead.

    • @TheTrainStory

      You mean “railway turntable”. In the age of steam, IR had railway turntables. In fact they were quite common. The advent of diesel and electrics reduced IR’ need for turntables and have been phased out.

      A twin unit WDG6G will have the same max power as a WAG-12. The WAG 12 has a tractive effort of 785 KN. I do not have information on the tractive effort of thr WDG6G. The loco is still in trials. It is difficult to say how a twin MU’d WDG6G will perform compared to the WAG 12

      This is an American design. American locomotives are almost always used in multiple unit configuration. Therefore a single cab is provided in each unit. In multiple unit configuration, a cab will always be present at each end of the loco multiple unit set

    7:42. No train from Kochuveli runs on the Yelahanka line you genius! It's the Kondaveedu Express and the number is 17211, not 16316. Completely misinformed. Mention video credits to the original videographers! This is bad!!

      It is not clear what you mean by original videographers... this is my original work. I would normally have thanked you for pointing out the mistake about the train name but since your tone is so condescending for what is indeed an oversight/mistake, I do not believe you deserve any courtesies
