    Don, You are absolutely amazing. I love the energy and excitement that you give to us. I have been binge watching your channel and was going to wait and comment until I watch all of your content. But this video requires a comment. I have been searching for property in that area for a couple of weeks. You have killed all of my fears about this challenge so I called Mr. Price today. We spoke in length for a very long time. When you speak to him, please tell him I said hello.

      @@anniesshenanigans3815 first I would talk to the realtor selling the lot. Request a copy of the CCRs if any, info easement and access. The sellers terms (if owner financed) to the lot. Also check for resources,access to water, game, soil conditions for growing. Trees available for firewood. I would also talk to any locals to get opinions about the area that have lived there a bit. These are just a few ideas

    I have my affordable 6 acre home. So much better ti retire in a country aetting with my tiny house. Lots of wildlife here, too.
    I hope this encourages these seniors out there its possible though.

      Hi Nanny Rain would be great but its a mixed blessing when all of my home framing is still subject to the elements. So delighted I went with waterproof OSB for the floor.

    A hint to those considering relocating to anywhere in Arizona. Get allergy tested for our weeds, pollens, and grasses before moving. Moving here, then finding out you're allergic to mesquite (and everything else) is not a surprise you want :-)

    I'm planning on doing the van life thing when I retire is a few years. Go around the country doing the bucket list for a few years while I buy an off grid property in arizona to settle down in.

    My property is for sale down here if anyone is looking. >10 acres of RU-4 directly off highway 92. Plans have changed so I can't do my off-grid plan :-/

    Everything looks great there, Don!I You are doing a GREAT job! I have 5 acres in Portal to sell on Poor Wiil Ln.. It's beautiful there on the East side of the Chiracahua Mts.! If anyone would be interested.....oh it has a well and electric.

      At 4300 ft elevation at the moment in the evening here, its only around 80 deg with a lovely summer breeze. Thanks for caring Dallas!

      @@affordabledesertliving3487 oh that’s awesome. That elevation helps. We had a 7 day stretch of 100-102 deg heat here in Portland. Now high 80’s. my A/C just can’t handle that kind of heat. I don’t take heat well. Cat was miserable too. Hopefully that’s the last of the 100’s!

    I loved living in AZ. MY next stop, though, having just retired? The French Pyrenees. I've done the RV/nomad/work remote thing since 2017. Time to put down some roots and travel. Love your channel!

      Most of the time those fees are for road up keep.
      and it's always best to ask about them.

      You do solar for power.
      You catch rain water.
      Or have water delivered.
      Or use the 5 gallon water containers. They can be refilled at Walmarts or a grocery store.

      Yep all of these can be done affordably. Especially if you are into the adventure of doing it all yourself.

      No well here at all rareroots. I am primarily rainwater harvesting and will increase my harvest with more roofspace hopefully soon. A well is financially not viable for some, me included.

      @@affordabledesertliving3487 Dig your own well, add a hand pump and you're set. There is a couple who buy off-grid abandoned land in Alaska and another state, and they dig their own wells.

      Respectfully that would be no. Many friends and offgrid neighbors rely on rainwater harvesting. Misunderstood often and very unutilized way of obtaining the water one needs.

      If there's underground water, then all you need do is dig your own well. Don't need some big contractor to do it for you. There's a couple here on yt who purchase off-grid lands, and always dig their own wells, then use an old fashioned hand pump to get the water.
