  • Ride with us in Yellowstone National Park's beautiful, and wild, Lamar Valley. Starting at Mammoth Hot Springs we ride east, dodging tourists and buffalo as we go, 50 miles on the approach to the famous Highway 212. Near the end of our journey we cross the eastern boundary of Yellowstone, and ride on to Cooke City, nestled deep in the spectacular Absaroka Mountains.
    Featuring "Somewhere To Go" and "Tom Horn" by Sean Ashby.

    As always I'm looking forward to your next video.... especially looked forward to this run thru Lamar Valley. Every video I have seen, they never miss a close up Buffalo sighting; my guys would love that. Look forward to your ride on towards Red Lodge and beyond...!

    Another excellent video. I like the way you use sound; music, shifting of the bike and river water running. It looks like you had great weather throughout your trip. Thanks again.

      Thanks Clint! We did have mostly great weather on this tour through Wyoming. The problem we did have was smoke from forest fires far to the northwest. A few days the smoke was severe enough that we canceled filming on those days and relocated to areas with clearer skies.

      That buffalo was just out for a walk down the road and wasn't looking for any trouble, but still, you are absolutely right that I was ready to make a break for it!

    Stupendo questo video, posti incantevoli ma la bellezza e trovarsi a quattr'occhi i bufali. Deve essere meraviglioso incontrarli, a me mi fanno tenerezza questi animali. Grazie per questi video che sono bellissimi.

    I'm betting the Bear tooth is next video? We went the end of July snow I was very humble by the time we got to Red Lodge. Hope you had better weather.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 років тому

      Pretty good bet! We have rode Beartooth 5 times now, and the first time was great til we got to the summit, then we rode to Red Lodge in snow/sleet and rain. The last times our only concern was smoke from far off forest fires affecting our video, but otherwise great weather! I hope you like those videos when they come out, I think they turned out pretty good!

      Don't you love when mother nature turns a ride into a adventure. One day snow and two days later it's 103 degrees . Sure your videos come out great I watch them all. thanks

    Great video! We're planning a trip out there and to the Tetons next year. What time of year was this ride? Want to make sure we get the full experience, rain/sleet/snow/103 degrees, you know, the full meal deal!

    I'm loving your videos! I have an '06 Strat S, bought new in Jan '06. I like to get out of the city whenever I can. (Houston) I ride the Texas hill country. How many miles are on your Strat?

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 років тому

      Thanks Bruce, it is always nice to hear when someone is enjoying my work! I have heard that there is some very nice riding in Texas, I will have to try and check it out someday.
      My Strat actually isn't. I have a 2007 Roadliner, with a few upgrades, such as a heavier, Progressive rear shock, and obviously all the Corbin bags and fairing. I went this route to give myself more cargo space than the Strat provided. There is now over 70,000 on the bike!
      Thanks again for joining us on our video rides, and commenting, I hope to hear from you again!

      Any plans Robert to trade for a new bike at some point? You got your eye on anything?

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  6 років тому +1

      I haven't planned that far ahead, this bike has lots of life in it, and does what we want. I really like the looks of the Indians but it would be hard to go to less luggage space, so.....

    Robert, great videos !!! Have become a big fan of your channel. Would you mind sharing what camera you use ? If a GoPro, what settings do you like the best?

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 років тому

      Thank you, glad to have you along for the ride!
      Yes I do use a GoPro. I use it all the wide angle 1080 30fps settings The 4K is just to big a files for my purpose. They take a lot of memory to store, imagine 40 days of 4k files, my laptop isn't big enough, and yes we do go for 40 days. Same with the 30 fps, any more then that just adds file size, unless you want to do some slow motion. The wide angle is my choice because I want to show scenery in my videos not just the road, and I think it gives closer to what a rider experiences. The drawback to wide angle is everything is further away, and mountains and cliffs seem flatter, smaller. Hope that helps!

    • @drewmiller1934
      @drewmiller1934 7 років тому +1

      Robert,
      Thanks that helps a lot. I'll try those settings. Thanks for all the effort and time you put into the videos. Just had shoulder surgery and with two bikes still covered up and setting in the garage, it helps with missing the rides this spring.

    • @RobertMerz
      @RobertMerz  7 років тому

      Ouch!
      If it helps I haven't got the bike out yet either, but that is time and weather related at this point. Interestingly the doc says the next step for my shoulders is surgery as well, not looking forward to that. Heal quickly Drew.

      Just outside of Kamloops, in the south central interior of British Columbia.
