    This is one of my favorite pieces from the series simply due to how dark it is. It's a rough listen, intentionally so. The first static section despite being as chaotic as it is has a strange sort of structure that actually makes it coherent and right after it goes straight into horror strings. So much anger.

    I knew the song would have a lot of emotion behind it, but I'm blown away. Knowing that's it's the entirety of the planet pouring its soul into grieving and raging at ALL of humanity makes this song wonderfully tragic. I'm used to Hymmnos songs implementing the singer's emotions and desires in it, but I'm fascinated by the gap between the Reyvateils singing and the planet itself. The human singers typically talk about lashing out for their negative emotions or Praising life in general while hoping for a beautiful future, but this is Ar Ciel, the Planet itself, vowing to kill and destroy every single human because of past transgressions. The ground beneath humanity's feet has given up on reconciliation and just wants them all dead, with a vengeance. That's POWERFUL. And both incredibly sad and terrifying.
    For those who don't know the series: This song is telling a story that a planet love its own children very much but they keep damage the planet. So finally the planet have to take all the lifes/substances back to restart the circle of life. What a sad story! Love and hate intertwined
    The lyrics are written from the planet's side of view.

      I like how you just stole the top comment from the original video for your first paragraph with the sole alteration being the removal of the "Okay, Holy SHIT." at the very start of the original comment

      Yeah, I'm glad other people see the song as so emotional too. It's made my tears flow multiple times. 😭 It's not just vengeance, she says she's repenting, that it was all a mistake from the beginning and it pains her more than anything to do this to her children because she still has memories of the early days when they loved and respected her. And it's not just the translation of the words that shows this, but the music and change in tone over the span of the song too.

    Let's gooo, ar tonelico content
    yeah, the hymmnos vocabulary takes a lot of inspiration especially from european languages, though it's kinda mixed up by the weird grammatical structure it has.
    that said, while it's an interesting component, it's the harmonies, vocals and tone shifts that give these soundtracks the unique vibe that they have.

    I don't know why I get recommended right now but happy to see people reacting to Ar Tonelico song. Reacting to XaaaCi/: is quite the.... choice ngl. It's not a standard Hymmn since it is Ar Ciela (the language) + Standard Grammar + Sol Cluster shenanigans. I guess it is better than throwing those who don't know to New Pastalie or Kurt Ciel or REON-4213 or Emotional Song Pact.
    I have quite the beef with this song at first but now I'm used to it and like to see this get some spotlight. There is something scary with song that sings about anger and murders but the singers are just thinking of it with plain emotion (Rrha) so all of it is just business as usual for the singer.

    My god those synths of Armageddon 🔥
    I'm still hoping Sublimation someday will have a reaction, the only problem is that there's just one video which includes all 4 parts together however there are no lyrics, otherwise there are AbstractGarden's 4 videos with lyrics

  • @uGuardian4
    @uGuardian4 Рік тому +16

    A fun fact about this song is canonically over half of the song should be outside of the human hearing range, since the planet is singing which means most of the song is probably in true Ar Ciela, which is massively pitch-dependent and most of that pitch range is outside of what humans can even hear, since the range goes up to 600kHz.
    There's a website called Hymmnoserver that has a basic lexicon and info on both Hymnos and Ar Ciela, and dialects if you're interested.
    Edit: Also to clarify something further, the planet is actually made of a 100 personas, and the majority just recently shifted to getting rid of humans, which it had originally decided to accept even though they were aliens in the past and had accidentally damaged the planet.
    Things happen over the course of the game that could actually kill the planet which is what causes the shift.

    • @aquagondrag
      @aquagondrag Рік тому +2

      A correction: Ar Ciel's humans aren't alien, they're native to the planet itself.

    • @uGuardian4
      @uGuardian4 Рік тому +1

      @@aquagondrag I suppose that depends on your definition, humans are an invasive species to Ar Ciel but the ones alive at the time of the games were born there. Humans previously hailed from Ra Ciela, and before even that they came from an unnamed planet (possibly Earth, who knows)
      If you define locally born people as not alien (and admittedly I wouldn't either) that makes Shurelia the only alien, since she was first born/created shortly before they arrived on Ar Ciel.
      Regardless, the phrase "humans were aliens in the past" is still applicable.

    • @aquagondrag
      @aquagondrag Рік тому +4

      @uGuardian4 You're confusing the humans from Ra Ciela with the ones from Ar Ciel.
      The Ra Cielans, originally from Planet Ciela, were the ones who became the Teru in the end, and only a small number of them ever came to Ar Ciel due to the sabotage of the Ra Ciel Fuser.
      While the Ar Ciel humans were created by Ar Ciel Herself, according to the official timelines, they already existed at a minimum for 2000 years prior to the Ra Ciela expedition team arriving. So no, the Ar Ciel humans aren't an invasive species or aliens under any definition.

    • @HadeaRin
      @HadeaRin 10 місяців тому +1

      The people in Ar Ciel aren't made out of Ra Cielan despite the naming making it confusing at times 😂. The descendants of Ra Cielan from Planet Ciela (Surge Concerto gangs) are the Teru clan. The people of Ar Ciel itself are created by the Will of Ar Ciel (as per the creation history in Ar Ciel Ar Dor) upon the will of EXA=PICO.
      But still, since both Ra Cielan and Ar Cielan are children of EXA=PICO it isn't like there is much difference in the fundamental position of these two races.

    This song reminds me of Class::EXSPHERE_NOSURGE; from Ar Nosurge, with the changes, except this one seems to still have a single line of song. Once you get the full context of any Ar Tonelico/Surge Concerto songs, they just gain and entire new dimension.

    • @stef96ify
      @stef96ify Рік тому +2

      The difference in context between this song and Exsphere may be that with Xaaaci the planet conveys its feelings of hatred, disappointment and will to exterminate humanity, while Exsphere, on the other hand, I think is even more grim than the other, as it's sung by just one person and is capable of killing directly anybody.

    The special thing about the language is that, a complete sentence start as the first three words expressing the speaker emotion, then the actual meaning of that sentence. Anyone that has a feeling should state their feeling at the start of their sentence, make the language unique.

      In the context of Song Magic, yes the Emotion Sound is a must since that is the command prompt from Reyvateil to Song Server.
      Kokoro Katari, Kurt Ciel song, Luca's 'idol' song doesn't have Emotional Sound most of the time and they're still considered a Hymmn.

      The Ar tonelico series (mostly) takes place on/in what are essentially giant computer servers that are also space elevators. Characters in the setting can cast magic by sending/executing terminal commands on the server. Many of the commands are, of course, the songs in the game, sung in Hymnos (the primary conlang of the setting) or related languages (Carmena Foreluna, New Testament of Pastalie, Ar Ciela, probably others I don't remember) (IIRC, XaaaCi. is sung in Ar Ciela).
      For example, if you look at the (translated) lyrics of GRANZERO=SPEAR, it literally opens with the phrase "Function Definer ->" (and yes, the singer/user vocalizes the "->"). There's also another song that's got a hilariously technical title - "chmod b111000000/n", which if you know a little of POSIX/*nix, is basically a command to alter read/write/execute permissions on a file. (Specifically: the singer/user is giving themselves full permissions and removing permissions for everyone else.)

    I love this song for a lot of the same reasons others have said here. I've also said why in the comments of the song's video. But I thought it might interest people if I suggest also listening to Rhythmic Hallucinations (Arranged version) from The King of Fighters 97 Arranged Soundtrack. It's the only other song that this song reminds me of and I could also describe that as "avant-garde".

    I prefer introducing people to Ar Tonelico with Singing Hill "Harmonics Eolia/Frelia/Tilia", they're very good at giving the impression of what meld of music Ar Tonelico is, while also telling a story of the general setting, especially the third one Tilia.

    context song : yo uare fightinh agains the earth the heart of earth , and is mad very mad at humans , that is why the song have that lyric , that is why say children, because is talking to the character , is a fight with this introduction song , this is just a prelude the song continue evolving in the fight , the earth start to be more open and keep sharing feelings, in the end characters connect with the earth and the fight is just over, is more more complex than that but that is the simple explanation .
