I'm against men-bashing as much as the next guy, but I don't think she was bashing men in real life. The "inept" and "all men" parts were referring to men IN THE SHOW ("all men" referring to her character being literally the only woman at the table). I'm watching it, and so far, there's all this conflict about jurisdiction and sectors, specifically surrounding one piece of Imperial hardware. The men, really one in particular, is not so much inept as he is arrogant.
Maybe give the show a chance first before having a knee-jerk reaction to some quick comment an actress made in an interview.
She wasn't at all... She was just describing the character and her context very clearly. I didn't know people reacted that way to this, that's absurd.
@@brps666 People reacted this way because they're idiotic culture-warriors that have this nonsense fed to them, and puke it back out. Imagine hearing someone say her character is a strong, capable type of fascist, and their take is, "... darn uppity feminists. Ruining fascism for fanboys everywhere!"
These two totally stole the show in Episode 9. Best scene in the whole show. Incredible acting! Love on the dark side.
that's what I'm saying! Episode 9 was probably my favorite episode for Dedra's character
I like Kyle’s viewpoint on his character, more than just robotic evil. Empire or not, you have to like your character before we the audience can.
Not if he's a villain.
Who else is watching the press junket after that absolute banger of a finale?
I like the idea that Lucasfilm is finally giving us the other side of the coin. Always wanted a show or film from the pov of imperial believers.
Amen to that !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Kyle really brought up a lot of intensity to the role, and his ironically justice driven (and ambitious) approach makes him a really interesting character. I hope he has a great role to play down the line of the series.
Darth Karen, hunting down the managers since 19 BBY.
Darth Karen 😂
So, what I gathered from this interview about Andor was that all the male characters expect for Syril are stupid, lazy, undriven, and all around worthless. As for the female characters I know nothing. But I can only guess they are all amazing.
This interview did not inspire a want to watch the show.
I know it was like watching a repeat of a self destructive Brie Larson interview where she just shits on men the whole time.
Why not watch the show instead of some six minute interview where you learn nothing?
Well, you embarrassed yourself with that asinine take. 😂. The show is rife with strong & competent male characters.
@@USMC1997 Yeah, I did. Because I stated gathered from this interview. Followed by this interview did not inspire a want to watch the show.
Which I can gather from your asshat reply. This interview did not do the justice.
Boy isn't my face red right now.
I just love how Marvel and Star Wars are hell bent on pushing misandry and by product pissing off their biggest potential crowd.
its still MEN watching and supporting these shows despite the feminist slant.
Those still watching may have XY chromosomes but they're not men.
@DillyDilly You mean soy-boys.
Well, not this man, not anymore.
They have chosen their allies, and have designated their enemies.
Let them have their war - I have chosen indifference.
Your loss, the show is amazing
Why the sad circle jerk? If you can't convince a woman to sleep with you, you can always have sex with each other!
I got a bad feeling about this….
Jesus wept...
Exactly how I feel of star Wars now like the tormented face in hell raiser that says this!!!

Appears like this isn’t made for a world audience… just a small group of angry women who like to lose money.
What the fuck are these comments? 🥱
@@Zippoca ahhh I see you are someone who fits the audience criteria.

Yeah. How well did that go when you said the same thing about Nike years ago? Apparently it’s actually “Go Woke, Become the richest company in your industry.”

@@rickfrompawnstars5550 WellWell. Call the Priest because Nike stock is only $88/share! How will Nike Survive still being one of the most expensive stocks on the market!
Oh grow up... people can't even agree on what is woke anymore. People seem to think that having a woman in anything is woke now. It's pathetic
Thanks for warning me. I almost wanted to see this. Now I can do something else…
lmao your loss
Imagine being this stupid
More Kathleen Kennedy's bs with man hating. Thanks for the tip, Denise: I'll skip this show.
A strong and powerful woman surrounded by idiotic and incompetent men?
This is fresh and exciting from Disney Star Wars! Hating on men is such a daring new concept, can't wait!
okay, so men not welcome. Gotcha.
Typical Disney.
I guess you’re welcome then.
The funny thing is watching the show I didnt get the feeling that it was men vs women. I didnt see her gender as her defining feature. But a bit worrying listing to this now.
Jesus Christ, take your meds.
Cry more man baby
That woman is so full of herself... Andor is woke sounds like
that's Yennifer you would expect her to be.
Like you knew anything about her. And the word "woke"....What is that? Just a new buzzword for trumpists.
Isn't it amazing how much a smile transforms their faces? Such good actors! Kyle will always be Francis Poldark to me though. :)
I wanted to give this show a chance, but Denise Gough talked me out of it with her toxic misandry. Now I don't have to waste my time, thanks 🙂.
Poor you, missing out on one of if not the best Star Wars show.
@@jonirojonironin5353 it is the best I think. It has more series and adult storyline and more gray and realistic human characters unlike the SW products
No...You... may be missing the point. She wants "POWER" over everything else
'and those who WANT power (Man or woman) see all others as { the less competent}
She was talking about her character here. Besides, she's the best actress I've seen in my life and I've seen a lot.
Surrounded by ineptitude and bad management. Is he talking about the empire or Kathleen Kennedy Disney star wars?
So original! When you're sucking George Lucas' dick, remember she was his handpicked successor
It's hard to convince people from the Internet but I hope somebody would have the patience to read this.
I say this interview is misleading after I watched 7 episodes of Andor, and I feel sorry for people who are turning away from Andor based on this interview only. This show is amazing so far (way better than Kenobi or Boba definitely). Gough did use some inaccurate choice of words to describe her character, but that wasn't Gough's intention. Remember that she's working for the Empire, bascially a Star Wars facism regime.
Gough's character (HER CHARACTER, named Dedra, NOT THE ACTRESS) is not filled with misandria. Most of the Imperial Officers were arrogant and blindly satisfied during this era, and thought the Empire was invincible. Dedra on the other hand spotted the pattern of Rebel attacks, and wanted to investigate it to better service the Empire.
However, most of her Imperial Officer peers were elbowing her out because they were jealous of her work. In other words, Dedra's purpose was simply wanting to make her best effort for the Empire, and her collegues (so-called lame men), who were shortsighted, envied her work. There wasn't really her misandria in there, but instead an environment of jealousy. Watch the show and you know what I'm saying.
What's the bet she points out the flaw in the death star design only to be shut down by the......... MEN. 🤣
Hur dur so funny! Women bad!
So these series has the same Galadriel-Shehulk-starlight-cap.marvel female character? Incredibly smart and powerful Off the rip Surrounded by incompetent men. Let me guess, in the first episode some man is gonna tell her to smile and she’s gonna be pissed.
But she’s the first bada$$ woman to ever be on the big screen! Trinity, Lara Croft, Leia, Galadriel (2001), Eowyn, Mira (Ghost in the Shell), Arwen, Beatrix Kiddo, Ripley, Any character Charlize Theron or Angelina Jolie plays, Sarah Connor, Selene (Underworld), Katniss Everdeen, Black Widow, Catwoman (Anne Hathaway)…they just didn’t realize they were complicit in the patriarchy.
She's not even in the first three episodes, no one knows. Did you watch Rebels? Did Hera's character bother you?
What
Oh calm down. Cleary you haven’t seen the show.
WRONG! :D
Amazing two characters...Makes you root for the empire. I like this serie alot.
I thought the whole purpose of actor interviews was that they get you interested in the show or movie. You guys are doing the opposite.
Who is watching after finale of The season?
Her character sounds fairly sexist, so inclusive!
I'm shipping these two so hard
Aaaaw their characters are such a cute couple..
That’s not endearing, unique or special it’s just the norm in woke content 😂
She must’ve forgotten Leia, Reva, and Amidala were also leaders. Reva was Imperial as well.
@@xtcaudio I bet she never even watched these movies and shows.
Andor has been out for a long time and there's nothing woke about it and thank god for that. One of the best Star Wars shows so far.
@@purefoldnz3070 agreed, the interview was the only thing that had me questioning, but the series is going strong.
@@xtcaudio yeah I don't think anyone expected it to be this good.
Oh I love this interview, thanks for saving me time, this show isn't for me xD
It's the best thing star wars has produced in the past ten years
You'll be sorely missed
Insufferable.
omg more manhating! Please just stop. Im going to exercise my free choice and skip this show. This looks bad.
She looks better in real life than in the series.
I know. She looks like a zombie on the show.
Same with Domnall Gleason as General Hux
Haha! Get it? Because men and patriarchy and toxic masculinity am I right? No, seriously though! For who is this? Who do you intent on promoting this to, this way? Feminists? twitter maybe? Newsflash, likes and retweets, don't convert to viewership.
Denise.. for the love of god just stop talking. You are digging yourself a hole.
Deeeeeeeedraaaaaa the bestest Imperial eeevvvaaaa
as Doomcock would say!
I have a feeling that SYRIL joins the rebellion after getting rejected by DEDRA and emotionally smothered by his mother
Great another pr tour that focuses on how great man hating misandry is instead of pitching the actual story and world building.
Another reason NOT to pay for Disney+.
Thx for the heads up screen rant, another "informative" interviews as always ScreenRant..... can't wait for you to have Brie Larson on to talk about her future in "The Marvel's" series.
I hope people commented 1 month ago go back to what they wrote here.
When will producers understand that women generally don’t like superheroes/action franchises? That’s why drama series like euphoria, sex education, gossip girl, pretty little liars, etc, succeed.. because they met their target audience which is mostly female. Whereas Star Wars and marvel fail for alienating the male audience which is more “action driven”
Have you ever seen the movie, The Long Kiss Goodnight? Who do you think the audience is for that?
Homie, you must be living under a rock.
What on _Earth_ is happening with Denise's accent in this clip? I just found out she was in this from another interview she gave n her own(?) Irish accent, so this strange slightly Anglo mid-Atlantic version is a bit jarring! Maybe it's the one she's using in the show? Or does she just have a "US interviews" voice?
Good to see the people in the comments have common sense ..
Damn I was hoping this was going to be good… nope, just more hot woke garbage
Was it "woke" garbage? What the fuck it even is? A new favourite word for incels?
Finally a show that portrays women as smart and capable, and puts men in their place! Exactly what star wars fans has been screaming for! A big finger to the patriarchy 🖕
Well yeah. That was kinda Princess Leia’s whole existence back in the old days too.
Denise needs to Gough. 3:44 maybe watch the original trilogy and prequel trilogy? Some of the most powerful and influential people in the star wars universe were women... Padme, Leia and Mon Mothma to name a few, and that's not even mentioning the jedi masters and grandmasters!
Literally none of those (Except for Padme…..kinda) were part of the Empire.
@@jaycorbin5361 Um no Leia was part of the Imperial senate same as her father...
@@justinritchie282 Which she was never a part of in the movies, and the he Imperial Senate was only ever mentioned in that one line, to be explained away later. Leia doesn’t do anything outside of the Rebellion.

Syril Karn is a great character!
Great interview and insights into these characters. 👍 Long live the Empire!

Disgusting

Yeah I'll stick with house of the dragon, its not perfect but its better than everything disney has put out in the last few decades
You mean the show that jumps 10 years in the timeline and expect you to just “go with it”? The fantasy series even more convoluted in boring than the 20 hour LOTR “Extended Edition”? Yeah. Have fun with that.

Do all the snowflakes bothered by "strong female" characters not realize that this is EXACTLY HOW PRINCESS LEIA'S CHARACTER WAS WRITTEN IN A NEW HOPE?! Was it not clear? How can you not see that!
They made Leia appear strong without pulling this "men are all incompetent" garbage.
@@Asdfgh-xr6qw are you kidding me, you better go back and re watch ANH. She’s a jerk and talks down to every single male character in that movie. Vader, Tarkin, Luke, Han….everyone. And, she kept doing it for the most part in Empire but it was toned down in that.
@@tommy516 Well she talks down to Vader and Tarken because they’re evil not because they’re stupid. And Han is hotheaded so that annoys her. Don’t remember her talking down to Luke but if she did, she got over it quick. Important thing is that none of the male characters are actually incompetent and they all have their strengths.

There was actually 1 other woman. She was seen only two times, tho. And the men were quite inept, especially that asshole Blevin.😝

No offense to the young woman leading the interview or to screen rant but if ANDOR had an actor slamming women like this one is slamming men, then there would be a shat-ton more outrage about the project than there appears to be. Welcome to the age of accepted sexual discrimination. If this was slamming any race, nationality or religious group DISNEY would be fined and sued into bankruptcy but because all of their latest content is slamming men, it's ok and disney if fine with a female hitler in their corporate ranks.
I enjoy strong female characters like Ripley from the Alien franchise but recent 'strong' (strongly acidic and poisonous) female characters nothing more that hateful, bullying women-trash selling the message that female bullies are what girls should aspire to become, like KK.
One wonders just how badly neutered her (KK) spouse is. I foresee that Andor is going to crash and burn like the Deathstar.

I'm already bored. Who hired these shrubs?
This interview has very likely killed this show before it's even been released.
How so?
Even their names are boring. And the first thing he talks about is 'bureaucrats'. I feel like someone in LF is too ignorant to realise that the only way you can have bureaucrats in Star Wars is if you ALSO have pirates and princesses and wizards
I only watch this political crap to widen my understanding and knowledge.
Just what we wanted, more WOKE bs.
While this woke feminist show is playing, I can play Starcraft AND/OR see another 1980s/90s movie.
Yay! Wait until the end credits and you can see John Wayne beat his wife behind the scenes!
Dead before arrival
Lol when this fails, blame the women not watching it this time.
Weeeellll....Did it fail?!
A real unfortunate and clunky response about how her character perceives the men shes around. It paints that as how the show in it's entirety sees them and not just the individual character and her individual traits. It comes off as more disney hollyweird man bashing and girlbossing which , has become such a tired trope at this stage from the house of mouse.
Star Wars finally died when Force Awakened arrived. Let it rest in peace.
wow what a great example on how not to sell your show and i was looking forward to this I guess I should have known with Kennedy in charge
Oh boo hoo, try being more secure about your masculinity, child
Sounds like toxic misandry, a competent woman who would be perfect if not for the idiotic and lazy men surrounding her and holding her back. I’d venture to guess that Cassian Andor will be the one and only enjoyable male character in the show while the rest are bumbling fools. The empire used to be a powerful, threatening, and frightening force of the galaxy and now it’s full to the brim will idiotic men and hardly anything else. I had some hope that this show would stray away from these trends, but I think I’ll be skipping it now.
Your contempt is run-of-the-mill. Try watching the show, you might actually enjoy yourself.
