    Awww, what a shame that the Aurora explosion event was glitched for you. :'D I'm glad you still got to see the animation at least, but there's nothing quite like watching a new player reacting to the PDA announcing (it was supposed to be out loud) the imminent detonation and them then freaking out as the PDA's countdown gets all warped and distorted from the rising radiation.

    • @axelplate9080

      Pretty sure that occurs due to her choice of time to save last episode. If you load it so close to when the event is attempting to occur, it breaks. This happened to me with other events in the game too.

    So without spoilers: I explored the entirety of that area with the ship in, having never met the large beastie, and only later when I was in my false sense of security, looking down at the sand, gathering, did I see its shadow go over the top of me from behind, I froze in fear, looked up to see it looping back round to face me, roared at me, and I sped back to the pod as quick as I could with all my hairs standing on end. It was about two weeks before I could load the game back up!

      I'm not easily succeptable to fear, but also very caucious player, and carefully gather all resources from the near space before moving on further, so when i first encountered reaper, i already had a seamoth. So, it was grabbed. And i was sitting inside watching Levy munching on it's hull. Oh my, that was an adrenalin rush. After Reaper released me, i had an impression seamoth was moving even faster than usual when i ran away to my base to repair and catch breath.
      Minor spoiler ahead
      As i said, i am not very succeptable to fear, so i've quickly adapted, so eventually ended up playing leviathan rodeo in my Prawn suit: with the grappling arm you can attach yourself to leviathan, and ride them, and if you're careful enough, they almost never hit you, but you can either drill them to death with a drill, or just ride them for fun.

    Don't worry about it Amber, messy players are very enjoyable to watch. For many of us who played the game multiple times and watched over a dozen people play it, what makes it fun to watch someone new is the wonder of discovering the world and figuring out the game systems. Ah, the Reaper Leviathan never fails to make a memorable first impression. 🙂 The one sad aspect of this episode was you ignoring the red, flashing you-have-a-message indicator light of your radio. These messages are the game's way of pointing you in the direction of interesting places to explore, and as a consequence advance the main story.

    • @cactustactics
      @cactustactics Рік тому +13

      I just don't think she noticed since it's pretty much a background thing until you know to look/listen for it - and the "obvious" popup icon for the radio gets covered by the pinned items unfortunately. I'm assuming someone nudged her towards it before the next episode!

    • @Arthaius
      @Arthaius Рік тому +4

      - Nothing beats watching a new player meet the Reaper for the first time - there is a few lovely videos out there of compilation of first time Reaper encounters, that's pure Gold.
      And Yeah the little light is pretty unnoticeable in the video, i saw it in the video and honestly if I hadn't known it was there I might have missed it, plus, as we all know, the heightened level of distraction when trying to manage game+recording+commentary = easy to miss a lot of things, I see it all the time watching let's plays where the UA-camr goes right on past important spots or resources, they just plain don't see it busy chatting to us, lol. But it's a;; good, to be honest, the base building and exploration is like 1000% more interesting than the story, I hardly ever pay any attention to the story, I just like to find everything to scan and build bases that are cool.

    • @neil2444
      @neil2444 Рік тому +6

      It's an initiation of sorts to see the reaper leviathan. It happens right about the time in the game when you're feeling your most confident, and exploring the ship seems like an adventurous sort of thing to try. Then the game has a way of reminding you why you shouldn't feel quite so comfortable just yet.

    • @Arthaius
      @Arthaius Рік тому +4

      @@neil2444 - Yeah, it's actually possibly a brilliant intentional move - they set up your first likely Leviathan encounter to trigger right when you are busy looking at and thinking about "Yay, I'm about to get to explore this big a$$ crashed ship, could be a lot of useful sh!t in there" - and while you're distracted looking at the ship, thinking of treasures and adventure ... BOOM! Leviathan, lol.

    • @datoxgaming
      @datoxgaming Рік тому +9

      Oh yes!!! I've seen this way too many times in subnautica gameplay videos. There is one save location in a hostile environment, the lifepod. It's the only place to build tools and process food. You are in a survival situation, your life depends on this place to provide you with the bare basics. But there is a flashing red light, accompanied by an annoying little beeping sound. Let's just pay no attention to it and/or ignore it completely. Great idea. Surely this is of no importance. What can possibly go wrong? 🙂
      The game turns every player who enters the pod from the bottom hatch, so that everyone faces the radio automatically. People still manage to not see it dozends of times in a row.

    I guess everyone else has said the two most important things: check the radio and scan all the things. To change the battery in a device, hold it in your hand and press the Reload key, which should be R, I think. It brings up a little thing where you can select a battery from your inventory. Trying to live in the lifepod is a giant pain, so it's a good idea to build at least a couple of basic rooms ASAP. It's trivial to tear them down and move later if you want, so don't be afraid to give it a go. You're doing great! :)

Just keep having fun and people will keep watching.

    Some people might have suggested the Mouse/kb since it can be hard to grab fish while swimming because you need the right stick to move your view and the default is A to grab stuff which also needs your right thumb. What the game doesn't tell you is that that the right trigger can also grab stuff. So, if you're more comfortable with the controller, that might be a solution for you.
    Cave diving is extremely dangerous in both the game and real life. Your plan to try using the air pump wouldn't have worked since you need to put that on the surface first, then put pipes down from it. You COULD carry a spare air tank and swap it when your main tank is getting low, but that will only give you 30 seconds (for a standard tank) The other 45 seconds in your total are your lungs.
    There's not really that much of interest to be found in caves in the early game though. If you want to find different minerals, try going deeper in other biomes. (creepvine, redgrass, etc.)
    The DEEP cave you found is a little different story though. That is interesting. (but not easy) lol.
    Another tip is putting your storage lockers in a row. That way you can sort them in your head. The one closest to the pod is common stuff, the next one is more rare, the next one is organic, and so on. If you cluster them, they all look the same and you can spend a lot of time looking for something you know is there somewhere.
    When stalkers charge, your best bet is to swim toward them and to the side. They can't turn all that sharp and you can miss the mouth pretty easy. (you just get inside their turning radius)
    You should also make some spare batteries. You can change batteries on your flashlight, repair tool, and seaglide when theirs go dead. (save the dead ones for later)

    I always love seeing folks dive (ha) into this one! Your excitement figuring stuff out and finding new things is infectious, I miss this game so much!
    Shame the explosion scene bugged, glad they at least have a console command for it but ideally you would've been able to experience it organically. There's a lot more to enjoy in this game either way, so no worries! I see you already had your first encounter with one of the Big Boys. :D Let's just say the ocean is VERY deep and full of surprises.
    A couple tips! 1) Extra batteries can be crafted to swap out and recharge your tools and seaglide. 2) You can craft beacons to leave at places you'd like to return to later for an easy way to navigate back.

    Hi, don't know if you've found it already but there is an option to pause the game while looking at the PDA. This will suspend hunger, thirst, and oxygen so you can focus on reading the PDA information. Loving your series so far and hope you keep playing! Subnautica is one of my favorite games and it gets really cool later on.
    My best advice is to make Beacons and leave them wherever you find something interesting. There isn't an in-game map so you have to map out the world yourself.

    @DeludedOne Рік тому

    Advice? Search for more fragments, especially the mobile vehicle bay, develop in that direction, the world opens up much more once you do. Get the rebreather too as it is very useful.
    Finally, don't approach the ship unless you have a means of moving fast, and it's not recommended to approach it when it is dark.

    On one of my playthroughs, your new large friend did chase me back to the shallows and got stuck over there. It made me sick to my stomach watching him dolphin-jump out of the water near my lifepod. Thank God I had the habitat builder! I never went to the lifepod again, I would just check back from a distance and see him leaping about, unable to return to his area.

    I hint or two for you, make a list to what you want accomplished. Like a sea glide what you need and then go out and strive to ensure you meet said goal. It is too easy to get distracted. Look at your radio from time to time. It will give you locations to explore. Hope this helps. The deeper you go the more fun we are going to have seeing your reactions

    Just one small tip, everyone else already pointed out other important things.
    I would not wait too long with the building. A base also means more and better storage capabilities. ;)
    Plus, building in Subnautica is quite fun. :D

    The air pump needs to pump FROM air anyway, but the reason your pump ended up on surface was the way the current game's Unity engine works -- when you leave a region, the ground de-spawns -- so the air pump was able to float up out of the cave that no longer had a roof. This is more notable if you use variable depth or nightmare type mods and many things can happen.

    I love seeing new players in Subnautica. Subnautica is my favorite game and I’ve played it a lot. I streamed it some and will be doing a new game with my next stream. One tip I have is that you never have enough copper and another is bleach comes in handy quite a bit.

    Quick tip to really help you out is that the radio icon on your right hand side of your hud tells you that it’s time to go back to your life pod for POIs (points of interest). I highly recommend you have a seamoth and cyclops. You’ll need prawn suit too but those two will help for now and as you discovered roaring in the distance means some kind of mob is around. I won’t tell you how to game but will try to help get you going so good luck and happy hunting

    TIPS:
    - Raw bladder fish give O2 when eaten
    - You can make an Air Bladder (Refillable) to jet to the surface (fun) or to get air
    - Options > Accessibility > PDA Pause (Pause game with PDA is open)
    (Refillable)

    I have two tips I'd like to share with you. The game nevert tells you about two mechanics, but you may have already noticed them:
    1. You swim a little faster if both hands are free. It won't make that much of a difference, but in some cases this can aid you survival.
    2. Keep your food and water levels up. Maybe you've already noticed, if both are above a certain threshold, you get a very small amount of passive healing.
    Last but not least: If you can hear them, they can hear you.

    As other people have mentioned, the radio in your life pod flashes when you have a message. Those messages will help guide you to nearby different areas which have wrecks that you should explore for different technology, which will be a good beginning for the game :)

    9:35 You can over-eat to grt your Food meter to go above 100, if you’re at 99 or less, but that doesn’t work with Water. That’s hard capped at 100.
    Also, when both are above 80 you’ll heal slowly.

    Oh my goodness, the sass in your "I have to do everything around here myself!" you absolutely slayed me. I'm so sad you didn't get to experience the Aurora explosion as it was intended - there's some effects on the Alterra PDA's voice, if my memory serves me correctly, in addition to the howl of the wind rushing past you and the clicking of the geiger counter. But, since you played it on PC, you also seem to get the fun of being able to explode the Aurora over and over again, so maybe it's worth the trade?
