Really interesting to see all the development choices from this version. Boss fights happening in one screen, Peppino's speed being way more readable from just his sprite, the text and speed meter being removed so you're less distracted.
I remember when this game was supposed to have Zelda dungeon-esque levels with floors and locks and keys. I understand why they went with the straightforward platformer approach and I like that approach better but a platformer with Zelda dungeons is just too interesting..

Hoo boy did this game change a lot some ways for the better such as the upgraded wallrun and adding more speed based elements and then the really awful period that I hated but was afraid to speak up on such as Heat Meter or neutering super jump for a time because it gave PTG depression apparently, attacks that have basically no use, a shoulder bash that animated and worked like shit and just overall gameplay elements that clashed heavily with the speed based gameplay. So surreal to see the game come out so good and be so popular given how obscure it was and I genuinely thought it was going to flop due to PTG's decisions clashing with the speed based gameplay

i think it was just strange to see a better quality version of the sprite, was probably changed for consistency when the game solidified its style

This is alot more like wario than the current version. Final release levels are more linear. Still a fantastic 10/10 game none the less.
Older versions feel more Wario Land for sure. The newer ones have a much larger focus on the combo system.
