- Glycogen Synthesis (Glycogenesis) Pathway lesson: An In-Depth Overview of Glycogen Synthesis, Glycogen Chemical Structure, Enzymes involved in synthesis, storage of glycogen and role of glycogen.
Hey everyone! In this lesson you will learn about the glycogen synthesis pathway aka glycogenesis, including an in-depth overview of the pathway, where glycogen synthesis occurs in the body, and what enzymes are involved in glycogen synthesis.
What is glycogenesis? Glycogenesis is a specialized process whereby glucose is stored in a readily available form; glycogenesis requires specialized enzymes and the structure of glycogen is synthesized in such a way as to enable glycogen's specialized role in the body . You will also learn about how many ATP are required for the pathway.
I am always looking for advice on how to improve my videos - any and all help would be greatly appreciated :) And as always, if you need help with any concepts, please don't hesitate to ask - I'll try my best to help you :)

I was struggling for 4 hours and I learned more in just 11.35 mins. Thank you for this wonderful video 😊
Thanks for the awesome video! In our class, the irreversibility of the "glycogen synthase a" step was a point of attention. This step is endergonic but is made spontaneous by coupling with the hydrolysis of inorganic pyrophosphate (catalyzed by inorganic phosphatase) that was cleaved off of UTP to create UDP-glucose. UTP brings 3 phosphates and glucose 1-phosphate brings 1, totaling four, so 2 of the UTP's phosphates must be cleaved off since UDP glucose has only the di-phosphate group, one of whose phosphates the glucose itself brought to the reaction. The other two phosphates become pyrophosphate, whose free energy of hydrolysis is coupled with the glycogen synthase a reaction to make it spontaneous. I hope this is clear and is helpful for someone! Thanks again for the great vid.
❤thanks, this is helpful, I found some diagram on Pyrophosphate, and what you just explained...
Nicely presented!!! This is helping me heaps for my upcoming Biochem exam. Thank you! keep up the good stuff!
Hey JJ Medicine, this video REALLY helped clarify , glucose , glucogenesis , and the enzymes involved. I wish I had you as a professor to be honest . I have an Advanced Nutrition final coming up and your videos are helping me to further understand what is going on rather than to simply memorize. Once again your videos are much appreciated!
I'm so glad that I found your channel to use your vids to write down my notes! Could you do a video on the TCA cycle? I'm having my biochemistry exam in a few weeks time :) Thank you and keep up the work!
Taught me this topic in 11 minutes which took my teacher two weeks to finish. Understood everything! Thanks
This video was very helpful, and the topic actually seems more interesting now. Thank you so much!
The most clear and well explained vedio I have ever seen... Thankuhhh
bud you just gave me 6 marks in 11.35 mins of your video! thanks alot :)
its so helpful for my upcoming exam, huge thanks for the video
Amazing video, thank you so much!
Glyco= glucose
Gen=producing, amazing thnk u so much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You forgot ro to mention the attachment of tyrosine amino acid of glycogenin protein to the glucose molecules. Loved your video ❤️
Thank you for making this video!! It was super helpful :)
Excellent video!
ive watch this video at least three times at three different points this year
Great explanation, thank you
Sir I can't thank you enough for this video
Very helpful video 👍
Hi and thanks for the video
easy and clear ty
Can you please do a video on photosynthesis?
Thank you so much sir ❤️❤️
in a previous video you mentioned that glucose to glucose-6-phostate was an irreversible step but in this video you mention that it can be reversed through glucose-6-phosphatase. does that require energy and is that why you didn't mention it before in the glycolysis lecture or is there another reason?
thanks for this!!
Can someone please explain how UTP is used to activate glucose ?
thank you for the great video series! One question: you say, that Glucose-6-Phosphate can be turned into Glucono-1,5-lactone, which enters pentose phosphate pathway. Shouldn't it be 6-Phosphoglucono-1,5-lactone instead? (timestamp: 3:40)
The same question. There must be 6-Phosphoglucono-delta-lactone, by all means.
Doesn’t this process occur during fed state ??
good video😚
THANK YOUUU
God Bless Everyone
What is neo glycogenesis??please awnser
Hi
您說的是肝醣的合成嗎? Do you talk about the storage of liver sugar? 我只是對於狗被結紮 很難過 我 希望能解開我的母狗 忠良 i am sad about the tie of my female dog and she is my best friend.
Great video!
