What a gorgeous city, filled with building after building that are like rare treasures of design! That stone church with the arched doorways and indeed all the churches shown, were magnificant..I love how streets are closed off to traffic, making it a paradise for pedestrians. And that park WOW, just wow, so verdant, lush and alive.... The antiquity of Europe blows my mind, living all my life in Australia, we do not have such history....gorgeous video sweetie!

Was in Portugal for two weeks in 2015, and spent a few days in Coimbra. We loved every minute of our visit to Portugal, and the few days we spent in Coimbra. We can't wait to go back.

Such an incredible place!!! I enjoyed some days in this city during my roadtrip through Portugal and it was just amazing to enjoy the life of its streets, its monuments and its gastronomy 😄👍
It is a Spanish tradition to visit Portugal during the Easter holiday and could year some Spaniards talking about the "Semana Santa" the holy Week , they will be back in Coimbra this April.

One of the Great Underrated Towns of Portugal, along with Seisembra, Tavira, Tomar, Braganca, and Evora. My crazy Avant-garde Musician friends from Lisbon, play shows in Coimbra all the time! - It's a University Town!
Really well choreographed walk , loved the way you ignored Portal de Barbaca on the first pass then casually walked up on the return. Haven´t been down for nearly 10 years and even in that time I can see the changes - and the difference since my first time in the 1980´s - I will have to sort out a week or so for a trip this year as you´ve shown me places in the old town that I had missed. The botanical garden is great, luxuriant and exotic, and it is so nice that it is located so close to the University complex. A great video, you managed to cover almost all of Coimbra´s old city 👍 Ps. Looking forward for the Porto videos! (I presume they will be coming 😁)
@@WatchedWalker You will love it, and make great videos there too ;-) Because you went north from Lisbon to Coimbra I thought you would finish your portuguese trip in Porto, but a single day would not be enough for Porto, whilst with the same amount of time you could cover almost all of Coimbra, the city of "students". Porto deserves a trip by itself ;-)

In Aveiro, and if you still have time, try visiting the beach town of Costa Nova, only a 10 min drive from the city centre. I am sure you will find the colourful striped houses very pretty :-)
Beautiful historic city. It was home to the first Portuguese kings. I wish the government would invest in the restoration and better preservation of a lot of the buildings though.

However, I have to say, that we lost a lot of commerce and now, has we can see in the footage, most of the streets are empty due to the 2012 crises... And don't forget the "Uni Students Annual Party" aka "Queima das Fitas"... :-) Thanks

Just see a video like this on a big screen, and you will be just as good as walking in Coimbra. Use the money to improve your local community. Thank good for the Internet, and good videos like these. it's good to do it, but no video will ever substitute the experience of being there, experiencing the destination, people, the food, the art.... Coimbra is worth a travel, also to the beautiful region with so much to do and see
Great video as usual. Beautiful city and best of all doesn't appear as overtly touristy as so many other historic European cities have unfortunately become. I know Lisbon very well but need to explore Coimbra next time.

Great video as usual. Beautiful city and best of all doesn't appear as overtly touristy as so many other historic European cities have unfortunately become. I know Lisbon very well but need to explore Coimbra next time.
