Such a twist, turn, modulation in this song. Now that she's in her mid 80s, can't imagine she sang this some 33 years back. Can't think of such a vocal and tonal range. And the lyrics and music....God, if u r here, then it's in the form of RDB's compositions. That gentleman was so way way ahead of his times. He's indeed left a rich legacy behind. RD used backup vocals and multi tracks something that was almost impossible during those days. A great innovation.
Using multi track recording in non-digital (analogue) systems in that age was such a challenge.
Talented Bengali composer Sudhin Dasgupta also used multi tracks for a Bengali film song In the early 70s. The song was "Doorey doorey, kaache kaache ", sung by Arati Mukherjee, another superb singer

Thanks to Gulzar, I developed a taste in music that has meaningful lyrics.I can't enjoy a song with substandard or meaningless lyrics.
I really don't understand but there is some magic in this song. Both actors also suited.
