I suppose make a new one or spot clean with something foaming. If it's oily you can iron with paper towels between the iron and it to absorb oily things. I don't put any food items or stainable things in mine. I use it to hold threads and scissors and stitch markers. I recommend using a real bowl for something stain inducing.
