Just returned from a week trip on Icon, I spent most of my time lost, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Very beautiful ship but long long lines everywhere.
Appreciate you being honest about the space once you "moved in" your room! It makes the difference.
Sharon I would like to give my deepest apologies for laughing so hard when you showed the shower issue. 😂
Looks great, miss the group, healing up from prostate procedures, but getting stronger.
So funny. I NEVER want a chair in the sun. We always look for shade. 😂
All RCL ships only have two elevator banks.
I found all steak/beef type meals at dinner were very good, better than the other RC ships. Tip: if someone at your table doesn't want the lobster, have them order it along with another meal that they want. I was on the same sailing as you guys and on deck 14 starboard forward. I love the large ships.
As far as the shower head goes, I always take it off the hanger and drape it over the knobs and it warmed up within 5-10 seconds at most. So I step in the shower and turn it on and have it aimed at the wall. The baskets were a little annoying but I could see all of my stuff. The mirror small closet is where I kept our shoes. But I did find I had enough closet space. I usually hang up all of my blouses/tops and hubby's also, but this time I put some of them in the baskets and the 2 large drawers. But I was pleased and I am an overpacker, and didn't have any storage issues. I always take the magnet hooks and use them on the walls. You can get them from Amazon and I have a few heavy duty 25lb magnets then some smaller ones. Really helps for hats and other items.

I would like more shade and I also suggested that the little leaf looking things over hot tubs and pools have "smaller holes" in them to provide more shade.
I often wonder if ship designers are now foregoing practicality in exchange for the wow factor. Trying to cram as much as they can into as many spaces as they can, without regard to function. I still believe the need is for more mid size ships with a balance of amenities. Not behemoths that make it difficult to see and do everything in just a week. Spectacular as is may be, I don't see myself on Icon anytime soon.
Icon looks beautiful but the dislikes far outweigh the likes for me. I think I’ll stick with Icon and Freedom class
Sounds so nice and I love and follow your videos! I won't be paying the high prices for a cruise with RC. Not into these steel monoliths.

I was on the same sailing. I never found the elevators to be a problem, actually love the new system! Never waited more than 1 minute for an elevator, and sometimes it did stop at 2 or 3 decks. But most of the time less than 30 seconds. Andy C in the Schooner was great and all of the shows were fantastic. The seating on the ship is phenomenal.... so many places to sit and comfortable seating or unique seating. I love it and the Icon ships will be my new favorite altho I love the Oasis class too. Shower use: get in, close the door, grab the shower head off the stand, aim it away from the body, adjust the temp, reset the shower head.
And leave the head down when you're done.
This is exactly what I did.
Yes, except we don't want to stand in the shower waiting for the water to get hot. lol

I really loved their new signature drinks. Found some favorites at different venues. Really pleased since I get 4 drinks with Diamond status. Altho I have trouble drinking 4!

According to, I can't remember if it was Royal Caribbean Cruise Blog or another of content creator of that size, the crew has told them the first few months I think it was until like June the buffet was going to be elevated and then come back to being closer to their other ships.
We actually experienced the phone call to our room on Harmony of seas for our cont breakfast each day too 😁. Loved it !

Thank you for your honest evaluation of the icon. This was the best video I've seen exposing areas that could be improved. I hope Royal Caribbean watches the video and tries to make necessary changes. The first few cruises were , as I understand it, only 80 % full. It sounds like your cruise was full. I am sailing in June . All the school kids will be able to vacation. At least now, I can prepare myself. Thanks again.

Loved the vlog. I was on the Wonder of the Seas and that is exactly how I felt. Beautiful ship but not laid out right for all the people to enjoy spaces like the pools, some bars etc.
The shower door was designed so you can reach through the smaller opening to turn on the water!
Two elevator banks for a cruise that size is nuts. So much for spreading people out.
Oasis and Freedom class have two elevator banks also.
They all (RCG) have 2 elevator banks.
Carnaval sunrise has 3 elevators just getting off my cruise chip now. I went in a 5 days vacation trip 😂

The last few cruises, we have been called about room service. I think they realize it works better.
You guys seemed to respond as not being on that many larger Royal ships....I haven't noticed a problem with noise bleed, but will pay attention. The pub always had the bar on the back wall, which my husband mentioned isn't now - so im wondering if thats part of the difference.
Love thats there something other than late night pizza.
we went in MSC for Christmas and they had smart elevators. Greg's in to be annoyed again. lol. stairs it is.
I did not have the same experience with the elevators. I never waited for an elevator and they were never full. No Royal ship has 3 elevator banks, all have an aft and a forward bank. The difference is the other ships have half the elevators on the port side and the other half on the port side. I thought having them all in one lobby made a lot of sense. There are 10 in the forward lobby and 12 in the aft lobby. I was told the “mesh” seating you referenced were supposed to be hot tubs, but that didn’t happen. Supposedly they will be hot tubs on Star. Also Swim & Tonic was never busy when I was onboard. I actually pointed out to others I was sailing with that the music on the Promenade did not bleed from one venue to another. I guess my experience was a bit different. Going again in January so I can compare my maiden voyage experience to a sailing with a higher capacity (maiden was 80%)

I like the elevators. No one crowded and cutting front of you to get in and then it's too full for you to get in. Also anyone in a wheelchair ot mobility scooter will tell you it's awesome because on a regular elevator you do not have enough time to get to it before everyone has filled it up. When I was using a scooter I would sometimes have to wait a half an hour to get into an elevator because people just cut right in front of you. I do think they need directions on this smart elevators because you should be pushing the floor you want for each person that is going with you that way the elevator will know when it is full. That employee was wrong for telling Matthew that because I saw an instructional video on it before the cruise and they said you should push it for each person
RCCL always have 2 banks of elevators at least the ships past 20 years
that is not the way the smart elevator should work. It was not like that on the Venezia

Great seeing your content but we will never cruise get to cruise on Icon it's very pricey
OK the ship sounds amazing. Thank you very much for the video. Are they smart, elevators, different or similar to the elevators on CARNIVAL panorama which seem to be by the way, you guys describe it a little bit easier to use than the elevators on icon of the seas.
After seeing your Icon vlogs, I can't wait to cruise on her but I'm afraid it's going to have to wait a couple of years until the price gets a bit lower.
Did you have to make reservations for the shows before you got on the ship

Do you tip the person who brings your complimentary breakfast or is it included with your overall gratuities?
We usually give a few bucks each time we get room service including the complimentary breakfast.. Thanks for watching!!
Are the production shows like Wiz of Oz presented multiple times on different dates of the cruise? Are you SOL if you missed the showed on the scheduled date? Will you miss out the shows if one does not make reservations?
They already drain the pools and hot tubs every night.
There's plenty of places to lay out on a ship. Why everyone rushes to be by the pool like sardines amazes me LOL.
To turn on the shower without getting wet, reach through the space between the door and the glass.
Another con of swim up bar...kids! They shouldn't be there.
