Asylum Claims: Individuals entering the U.S. from Canada may claim asylum under provisions of Title 8, but they are subject to agreements like the Safe Third Country Agreement between the U.S. and Canada. Under this agreement, individuals must seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in, meaning many who enter via Canada are ineligible to apply for asylum in the U.S.

It is true. It was reported here that people from Latin America are not going to the US through the Mexico-US border anymore. Instead, they booked a flight to Canada and then crossed to the US illegally because the US-Canada border is not as strict as the South American border. The US is now keeping an eye on that issue. The US has this J1 visa option for temporary workers, but I don't know if that path will lead to permanent residency. Illegal crossing is now a global crisis cause people want a better life for their family. I knew there were a lot of Filipino TnTs here in the US, but they lived in fear and uncertainty every single day. Kaya, I would suggest na uwi muna sa Pinas then palawakin ang skill set then subukan ulit, kesa gumawa ng di naayon sa batas ng US or Canada man. Mas komplikado yun in the long run.
Imho, even if they refuse to accept their fate, at least they should set up a formal dialogue with IRCC kesa magmukha silang mga demanding at pasaway sa hindi nman nila bansa. Imbes na kaawaan maiinis pa sa knila ang karamihan.

USA have open borders. Some can even get 10k or 13k allowance monthly from the government, even if illegal. I think just ask as a refugee. They are USA's "new hope". Go go go take the opportunity.
As far as I know, refugee/asylum is hard to claim if you came from a safe country like canada. They will be sent back to canada if they surrender to immigration officials. @@leoce3514Yes, I believe Biden's illegal policy granting status to undocumented relatives of US citizens will be declared unconstitutional because it's an overreach and an abuse of executive discretion. If undocumented immigrants are allowed to get green cards based on a relationship to a US citizen, it would've been included in immigration law. In fact, US immigration law explicitly prohibits it because it would reward lawbreakers and give illegal border crossers a strong incentive to skirt the legal way to immigrate.
Ina, I just had to inform you, check the news, that because of a certain company called “Promised Land” in Vancouver, who allegedly promised Filipinos jobs when they get to Canada, there is a group of Filipinos who are protesting. Filipinos are generally not like that, but MAYBE, they were taught to protest like that by some Kababayans. Ask Kuya Puto, coz I commented that this would damage the integrity of the Pinoy.
I think they were taught or asked to protest so that they could apply for a vulnerable work permit or much worse asylum which is not the correct way to go about it. I, however, have compassion for their situation I just do not think protesting in front of the company "Promised Land" is the best solution.
