A lot of times. . . experts are wrong. Seriously seriously wrong. Im not trying to nitpick but appeal to authority is a fallacious argument. I have gotten burnt by doctors, dentists on different occasions and it has made me look at these type of thinks differently. And scientists, well some google searches can show that they can be extremely wrong about things they develop only to be like "whoopsie." For example the drug they injected into Gulf War Veterans... its crazy. I don't want to get into covid vaccines because its just such a heated topic. All I will say is...vaccine hesitancy or vaccine postponing isn't just people "not listening to experts." A lot of people, including myself, want to see long term evidence, and by that I mean a few years. In the mean time, I keep my distance, sanitize and all that. NEVER got Covid. Even in 2020. My parents, who are vaccinated ironically DID get covid multiple times, and they got really sick... but no deaths. I went to their home, mask on, social distance and sanitizer...no covid for me. Though there are a lot of idiots making stuff up. Everyone's body is different and we react differently. For example, many vaccines induce seizures in me, that have lasted months on and off. And then there's always the possibility that 5 years down the road things anomalies start showing.
Same, I'm doing an experiment, personally. My mother thought she was going to react badly to the covid vaccine; she did, of course. she has migraines, felt sick, etc. I said to her, "You felt like that bc that's what you expected." So when I got my covid vaccine, I kept saying to myself that I wasn't going to feel anything; I then didn't get any side effects. So now, when I get my 2nd one, I am gonna watch loads of scary videos about side effects to see if I do get any which I think will trick my brain. Though this obviously won't prove that's what gives us side effects because I am doing this on a personal level and not with many people.
I went into into it without any expectations for my symptoms. 1st shot my arm was extremely sore but that was it. 2nd shot I had joint pain, low grade fever, headache, and mental fog for 2-3 days. Booster was a combination of sore arm and joint pain + malaise.
Interesting The biggest reactions I've had was from A meningitis vaccine that made me all shakey for a bit And there's other vaccines that's kinda made me feel slow and sore, like my covid vaccine did that, mmr vaccine did that And most universally for all of the vaccines is some tenderness at the injection site and maybe some stiffness.
@@nenben8759 Interesting, I had a reaction to the MMR vaccine as well! Apparently it's not very common. I got it last year for work (medical field) and actually had to take the rest of the day off because I felt as if I was actually sick. I felt better by the next morning though!
Actually as a child the vaccinations were like a pinch. What REALLY hurt was the Bicillin shots I got in winter. The Bicillin was in a peanut oil suspension so you can imagine the gauge of needle necessary to inject it.
Hank: why is it that sometimes vaccines hurt a lot and others, it just doesn't? Me: the heck are you talking about, it hurts a ton every fricking time!!!!
As a someone who has administered over a thousand vaccines in the last year i can see that people who are nervous and think its going to hurt are more likely to say it does than those who are relaxed, my advice is to keep that arm as relaxed as possible and try to distract yourself so you don’t tense up as the needle goes in.
Look, I've had to have intravenous potassium and regularly get to go through a surgery that involves needles through my back with only localized lidocaine for anesthesia. After that, there are very few vaccines/shots that are going to hurt. Which isn't to say I don't still mentally freak out, because I so do. It helps knowing those most of these shots don't come with prolonged pain, I'm just terrified of needles. But, really, in the Grand scheme of things, a shot isn't that bad. It's a quick little pinprick and done. Some shots burn for a bit and that always sucks, but usually if you just suck it up and get through it you've forgotten about the pain in under 20 minutes. Except for potassium. That will stay with you. ETA: That's just about the injection itself. Having side effects like a sore arm would suck, obviously. Still better to go through the vaccine, but still, sucks to have to go through hours or days of soreness.
