We had a deer jump between our truck and travel trailer in July in Kansas during a heat wave the temperature was 118 the blacktop two lane highway was a horrible place to have to stop and make emergency repairs to the front of our travel trailer. My husband ended having heat exhaustion the DPS Officer that stopped to help called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. My husband was ok after treatment. We learned that we should had drinks with electrolytes as well as the water we were drinking.
Cars pulling too closely in front of me after passing-only to exit on right, with no one behind me. Once in San Diego, once coming off Cape Cod. (Class B) Thank you for explaining the dark spots on pavement.
Going from GA.to SF,CA towing a Ford Ranger behind a F150 with snow on the road. We were easing along on interstate about 35mph and hit a high bump bridge. The towed vehicle decided that it wanted to be in front of the towing vehicle, we commenced to do 360 and a half and into the median! Landed in a concrete flume headed the correct direction. I unhooked the towed vehicle ,dug the snow out of the flume ,which lead back to the road, and was able to get out both vehicles safely and continued the trip San Francisco ! Blessed and lucky!! Stay safe and lucky!
Small world! I was just getting on when you were getting off then. I think I got on in march of 2000 basically the day the boat came back from deployment. I was on until mid 2003 . I was an EW/CTT.
@@FindingOurSomeday Definitely remember that deployment. I was on watch on the bridge bringing in the New Year watching fireworks from JFK. I was a Mustang JO. I used to be an OS.
DC is amazing! I’m watching this episode while sick on the couch from visiting our oldest (for the 3rd time in a year) that lives there now! Definitely agree on not overbooking!
So glad you guys are OK!!!! We had the same experience about two weeks, also with a tour bus. We were driving south on I-75 in Genesee County (Michigan) in our Ford F150 pulling our 27' Prime Time Avenger ATI travel trailer. We had previously left the campground in Frankenmuth, MI, and were in the lane to go to the rest area to make sure our hookups were still good. A tour bus came screaming past us at about 70 mph and cut us off the same way you were. My husband slammed on the breaks to avoid a collision. We have no idea how the bus didn't hit us. We continued to the rest area and parked in the lot. The bus, along with another bus, parked in front of the rest area. I was soooooo peeved!!! I started towards the bus to give the driver a piece of my mind but a semi-truck pulled in front of me. By the time the truck passed, the driver was heading towards the bathroom. I had taken a picture of the bus with the company info as well as the bus number. Instead of confronting the driver--which probably wouldn't have resulted in anything--I called the company and reported their careless driver. The dispatcher said he knew exactly who the driver was and would take care of it. I don't know what, if anything, happened to that driver but I'm sure it will happen again. There are way too many careless and distracted drivers out there so us RVers have to keep our eyes open for them. Safe travels & happy camping!! Tony & Monica's Plan B, Michigan.
If you go to DC again with the kids, I highly recommend the Native American Indian Museum, the Capitol Building for the awesome art work on the ceilings through out the rooms and you must ride one of the double decker buses. May is a great time to visit before it gets broiling hot.
D Light thanks for all the recommendations! I’m we’re going to be referencing these comments for the next time we go! I hope others are doing the same😃 those double decker buses looked fun, we saw a bunch of them! Thanks for watching🙏
I am also a loud passenger with gasps and imaginary brake pushing. I’d love to see how you all manage your tanks without being in a full hookup park more often. Being less dependent on these things sounds awesome!
It’s not as hard as it seems , there’s plenty of places to dump tanks. A lot of the places we go only have power and water but have a dump station on site. Or National parks for the most part are just a spot in the woods, but a dump station close by or at the campground.
I used to be a truck driver. For 7 years I drove the north east, VA to ME. So I totally get you about the traffic the roads and everything. Beyond stressful. My rig was 73 feet 6 inches long. I admire you for putting up with DC traffic towing an RV. I surely wouldn’t. LoL. Glad you had fun there and I can’t wait to see the rest of your journey to Maine. (My seafood coma home) 👍
Finding Our Someday Glad you had fun in D.C. I hope to take my kids there one of these summers. This summer is Lake Champlain in northern Vermont Lobster bake... that’s awesome! I’m from PA, and when I was driving I got Maine every week for years. Needless to say I am spoiled for life on their “caught that day” seafood at the coastal restaurants.
Whenever possible we try to travel late evening or overnight. We will have dinner, kids shower and get into pjs, and then leave. When we get near where we're headed, we will sleep until morning at a Walmart or rest area. This avoids all the crazies and the cooler night temps makes it so much easier on our van for towing. As for our scariest moments, it usually involves someone coming on an entrance ramp to a highway who doesn't try to merge. They instead just try to go really fast down the ramp without looking at traffic and almost drive into our trailer.
I have been to DC 5 times. 9 days for 4 of the trips and 16 days for the 5th trip. I still have yet to see all I want to see! I've always flown in, so am always in a nearby hotel. Once stayed at a hotel on Pennsylvania Ave., 6 blocks from the White House. I am also the one with that added voice when stomping on my imaginary brakes ... you're not alone! LOL I've just started binge watching your channel from the beginning, if you're wondering. :)
Soooo glad nothing worse happened. 4 chokes minimum. slow and deliberate. don't allow interruptions while setting-up or breaking camp. Thanks for your transparency. You rock!
welcome to DMV Area. I live in alexandria and when we leave for travel i cant wait to get out of dodge. And timing is the key!!! Our camper was hit on the side the day we brought it home from fredericksburg va Guy in a A class hit the side with his mirror. ANd if it wasn't for someone waving us down to let us know. We would have never know until we got home. Note State troopers wont do anything about it either unless you have a written statement by someone else other then you!! Luckily it was more of a rub so his black plastic mark was able to just rub out. But my point is people don't pay attention to narrow roads and rv's.
Live-Laugh-Love-Travel at least you were able to rub it out! It makes sense why so many people want to protect themselves with dash cams. “Video or it never happened” dishonestly and the fact that driving doesn’t seem to be people’s #1 priority while in the drivers seat these days is what’s wrong..... the phone is more important, the radio station, food, makeup, or the dog bouncing around in your lap.... take care, thanks for watching, stay safe😊
That was terrifying! I'm actually from York, PA and my brother lives in Annapolis, MD so this is right in my territory! And Duff is amazing! I saw him in the Baltimore Airport and my brother and sister in law actually went to school with one of the girls that work in the cake shop! Such a fun experience for the girls! I would HIGHLY recommend the Holocaust Museum next time. It's the very best thing I've seen there. Also Baltimore has a pretty cool aquarium if you guys have time to head over there. I know that you can't do everything but growing up in the northeast those were my favorite things.
Hey good tips on seeing DC too. I need to go back as only saw it many years ago on some school patrol trips when I was a teacher and had to limit where we went. BUT, “I’ll be back!!!!” Another good video.
Thank you ! Definitely go back! This was probably my 5th time going to DC and we still want to go back. We want to get a hotel room for a night and do DC at night next time😃
People not giving enough room when they pull over in front of you is one of my husbands biggest pet peeves. He drives a big truck and they do it to him all the time and they do it when we are pulling the trailer.
In Australia when one large vehicle is passing another the driver of the vehicle being passed flashes his lights to let the passing vehicle know that they can return into the lane. Does that happen in the United States?
I've been to DC twice to explore all it has to offer. Not even close to seeing a fraction of all the sights. I have to say that a must see is the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery. It's hard to find a word that can fully describe how moving it is. Thanks for sharing.
Yes you do need to DC at night we did the bus ride and it was great. My scariest moment was getting a blowout on my camper 200 miles later a second one
They actually reached out to us after the video was released, we gave them some info , but I never followed back up after fact. The video doesn’t really show it , but I’m not sure how he didn’t hit us. He didn’t just change lanes , he swerved into the lane enough to make the bus tilt sideways. Just happy he did miss us😃
Wheelin' with the Wendes if the road is old enough those oil spots are super helpful! The other thing I watch is the white lines up the road on the opposite side to spot dips😃
Glad you are alright! Scary. Great advice - hope I remember to follow it :-) Your friends are keepers! I've driven in D.C. Good choice taking the car.! I took my granddaughter and my Mom who was in a wheelchair. We didn't get to see as much as we wanted, but what memories! We took a direct flight from Bangor, rented a car and stayed at Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol. I hope your girls truly appreciate what a special life they are living right now. Welcome home to Maine. The black flies have been waiting for you. :-) P.S. Love the Bissell Brothers shirt!
Haven On Wheels I bet you’re Mom loved it! I think our girls understand, if not they will eventually 😃 my brother prints the Bissell Brothers shirts he owns a screen printing company “320ink” we always have lots of t shirts to pick through😎
If you haven't already done so, get an EZ Pass for tolls and you never have to worry about scrambling for cash again. It works from North Carolina to Maine, plus as far west as Illinois. You probably want to get two units, one for the truck and trailer, and one for the truck by itself. Make sure to keep the one not being used in the protective foil bag available from EZ Pass so you don't get charged double.
@@FindingOurSomeday I have an I-Pass from Illinois and it works all across the east. More importantly, in some places, like Illinois, the tolls are cut in half when you use the transponder rather than cash. That can make a big difference when you have four axles instead of two. Just make sure you keep track of which transponder is for two axles and which is for four. Wrap the unused one in heavy duty tin foil or you get double charged.
Yikes that was a close call! We really enjoyed your video and watching your experiences in Washington DC. It's funny because we released our Washington DC video this weekend too. Love 💖 your channel and can't wait to see your Alaska trip. ~ Norm & Kim
Ohhhh, just LOVE D.C.! One of my favorite places! You should have just taken the Metro in and ditched the car. It's clean, safe and easy and has stops close to just about anything other than the Washington Cathedral (which you shouldn't miss). Did you find the little grotto in front of the Capitol? It's a cute thing to checkout and a nice place to sit in the shade and cool off for a minute. I'll have to check out the Bible museum next time I'm there. Didn't know you were Mainers. My ancestors on my Mom's side go back for generations in Maine - So.Portland, Auburn, Mechanic Falls, Norway, Wells and Turner to name a few. We went every summer when I was a kid. Haven't been in a couple years, need to get back. Thanks for the memories! Safe travels!
Sue Kelderhouse we didn’t hang out at the grotto this time. So many things to see there as you know, I’ll have to put the Cathedral on our list for next time! Yup, we’re from Maine. You’ll see a few spots in next episode, all in the general area of most of the towns you mentioned (southern Maine) . Where did you normally visit when you used to go for the summer?
Thankful everyone is safe! Next time in DC area, check out the other Air and Space Museum near Dulles. Cool place, and there’s a space shuttle there. And out of DC traffic. 😎 Great photography!
Paul McGuire thank you for the compliment! We were actually supposed to go to that with the people we were staying with but we ran out of time. Mike is a pilot but when we were there he was working full time and commuting to school full time at Harvard 😳
Totally agree with traveling the east coast, definitely so much more stressful compared to the Midwest and out West. Awesome video of DC. I've only drove through there while working but look forward to actually being able to stop to see all those places ☺️
We've definitely had our share of close calls & scary moments on the road, but by far the scariest & worst was coming up on a car flipped over on the guardrail on fire with people still inside. We were some of the first on the scene & stopped to help until first responders arrived. There were car parts, and debris everywhere on the highway from 3 different cars all caused by someone who was driving the wrong way at night on 75 South just past Macon, Georgia. The lady in the car that was on fire was taken away by helicopter, but she didn't survive, absolutely the worst ever experience in thousands of miles traveled throughout the country.
klbarton81 that’s a scary situation to come upon..... no doubt the effects of that will always stay with you.... we’ve driven the 75 several times, actually we were on it in our previous episode.
This is a great video. The tips are superb. Stay out of the rush hours. I can’t imagine going inside the 495/695 beltway with a trailer (yet tractor trailers do it all the time). Bring cash for tolls if you’re going into the Northeast or even better, get an EZPass. I obtained an EZPass after tolls ran through $76 in cash one day.
P Grant thanks for watching! Tolls can get ridiculous! We were going to talk more about tolls in this episode but it was getting long so we pushed it to the next episode.
My late wife passed away in 2014, therefore I am alone when I am pulling my RV. When the fuel gauge starts getting low, I don't have somebody that can look up some place to refuel while I am driving. I try to catch it early enough that I can watch the billboards along the side of the road for truck stops since they have plenty of room to get in and out. I don't price compare but I don't pull in any place that is difficult to exit. I like to go through major cities at about two or three in the morning. The traffic is much more manageable and when the signs have me cross five or six lanes of traffic to stay on the same Interstate number without warning, I can do it much more readily. The worst city for doing this to me is Atlanta. I have sworn off doing Atlanta in the day time. I could not do this when my wife was still alive but since she passed away, this has worked realty well. Please don't wear sunglasses when talking to the camera, especially Jessie. You do such a beautiful job of talking with your eyes that we feel like we are missing out on half of what is being said because we can’t see the eye expressions that go along with it. When I am pulling an RV, drivers around me will incur major risks to their lives to avoid being behind me. It does not have to involve a HOV lane. Sometimes it is just an Interstate entrance ramp and they will run off the end of the ramp onto the shoulder to avoid being behind me. States ought to require an IQ test to get a driver's license. If you can't score over fifty, then you don't belong behind the wheel!! I use 4X4 the exact length of the spacing between the tires on the two axils for wheel chalks. The ends are angled such that it fits the tire on both ends. They fit in there so tight that I have to kick them to get them in there. One piece does it on each side. I have never had a problem where this did not hold it securely. It does the job of the X chalks as well as the wedge chalks all in one piece for each side. When I am ready to depart, I just pull the trailer over them and pick them up before I drive off. It really works well!
W Carl Hepker so sorry to hear about your wife. Jess’ dad passed away in 2014 as well. We have family outside of Atlanta and avoids driving through it during the day as much as possible. As far as the sunglasses go, Jess’ eyes are really sensitive to the sun so she wears sunglasses outside almost all the time. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Corey, I'm just like you regarding coffee, gotta have a lot of extras. I call it play coffee. But it sure tastes great. What were the girls favorite thing at the Bible Museum? You all seem like a nice wholesome family. Do you do any kind of church on the road?
Yeah I like to almost eat my coffee sometimes 😂 we’ve been eating a lot better lately so now I’ve just been adding milk to cold coffee or just drinking it black🙈 the girls and our favorite part of the Bible museum was the virtual walkthrough ( that quick scene that has the orange light was part of it) as far as church goes when we hit a town with family or friends we go to their church and when we’re away(almost always) we will watch a live stream of one of those churches.
Suggestion for DC for next time. Find a hotel near a Metro station (Alexandria, etc.) and use that to get into town. Most hotels outside of the city proper may even be willing to let you park the rig (but only if you stay in the hotel).
Great video- the dark spots on the road was insightful. Don’t be shy about sending the bus company your video! I would be interested in their response. Safe Travels:)
How did they not hit you? I used to drive school buses, and I have seen some close calls. I am so glad that Shelley and I are going back and watching you guys from the beginning. In real-time, this episode would have scared me even more for your safety. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels -Craig
SO Happy You all are ok. Happy Birthday Lily!🎉 At the Beginning of the Vlog, I thought it was a commercial.😀 (Great Content!) Thank You So Much for Sharing.... As a matter of fact, This Vlog should be Great for a Tour Guide Commercial.😀
I literally just got off from my shift working remotely from home to get back into my binge watching FOS so yeah I have the bug to get a camper and get out full time...been dreaming about it forever....hopefully life will let it happen
95 north of Richmond is bad news. It’s gotten much worse since you were in the Navy. I travel to MD and DE from NC every year, and last year I swore off 95. And I’m a truck driver originally from the DC area. I no longer have the patience to deal with the traffic on 95. That bus driver made a bad decision, especially if he had passengers on board.
@@FindingOurSomeday We have a Reflection 297RSTS. It's been great so far and we love it. We spent the winter in Florida which was our test for full time. I've been ready, but momma needed a little more convincing. On the way back to home base in Louisville, Ky., she said let's do it. So here we are lol, clearing out the house!
Ken and Jos Excellent Adventure looks like lots of seating in that layout! Glad things went well in Florida! That’s exciting, it’s a pretty amazing feeling getting rid of stuff! At the same time it’s also scary!
Wow that was a close call. Makes you think checking your brakes isn’t a waste of time. Glad you folks were okay. If you would have taken your truck into DC instead of the car would it have changed your parking situation? Really enjoy your videos. I’m looking forward to the Alaska episodes to see if we crossed paths somewhere. Considering the time lag between filming to posting have you thought about putting the date or date range when you were there at the start of your videos or in the description? We just came back from our 5 day make sure everything works trip. Have some purging and restocking to do in our storage compartments before we depart for Oregon in about 2 weeks time. Safe travels
Jd 338 it was really close(inches)! The wide angle video doesn’t really show how close it was, I really thought we were going to get hit. I’m not sure the truck would have fit in that parking garage , I probably would have parked down by the water and just refilled the meter, or parked in a lot outside the city and taken the metro in. Glad to hear your enjoying the videos, I’m excited to start editing Our trip to Alaska! I’m not sure what I’ll do about trying to explain time , and if I do that may just confuse people more🤷♂️ I can’t wait to be caught up time wise! It will be interesting to see if people comment that we were in the same spots 😳 sounds like the first trip of the year went well, seems your constantly re organizing when you’re in an RV/small space. Thanks again😃
Thank you for another wonderful video. One question, can you watch the politicians being fed? I have never heard of the Bible Museum, looks amazing. Glad not too much damage from the hard stop.
Forgot to add...I've always wanted to go to DC...we're up here in Central PA, just never made it yet! Now that I'm retired, we'll have to make time for it!
I was north bound on the Florida turnpike, in the right lane of the 2 lane road with a truck to my left and one behind me. A car was driving in the merge lane to my right and was almost matching my speed just a bit slower. I tried slowing down but I was in the middle of trucks all going 65. This idiot didn’t even look & kept coming into my lane. I blasted my horn and had to go into the lane to my left. The trucker beside me saw what was happening and moved into the shoulder as best he could. I was within inches of his truck and had to get back into my lane, shoving the little car over. They barely missed my right rear bumper. I’m a single 59 y/o female and LOVE driving my rig!!
Welcome to the Northeast where people don't care about anyone else's life not even their own. We are from Maine currently also and can't wait to get on the road and we are not looking forward to the drive out. We were almost hit multiple times on our last vacation with our new rig. Blew a tire in CT and cars were flying by my husband at 60+mph 3 feet from him while he was changing the tire and I didn't film anyone it because it was so stressful!
Always Changing Life the best advice I can give you is take a northern route out when you leave with your rig. That’s what we did on the way back out towards Alaska. It was way easier, and almost no tolls. We talk about this a little more in the next episode😃 Where are you guys from, when are you headed out?
@@FindingOurSomeday We have taken a lot of ways out of the NE!!! We are currently in the Dover Foxcroft area about 1 hour outside of Bangor and we are headed out as soon as the house sells we have our rig and we have been making changes to it to fit our needs. We are supper excited to be on the road but for right now we have to stay put until the house sells.....our fingers are crossed it sells this summer. We have it listed on Zillow and numerous other sites.
Scariest moment is pulling on highway in front of a truck that was not happy about it and pushed me to 120 mph. Fondant is French word mean”melting” we don’t say the t at the end.
Thanks for the information on the Bible Museum. Hadn't heard of it. Can't wait to check it out. Also, watched the Roosevelt documentary you recommended on an earlier video, phenomenal. Thanks for sharing. All the work you are putting into your videos is so much appreciated.
Todd & Karla Engle thank you for watching, glad you are enjoying them. Definitely check out the museum of the Bible if you’re in DC ! Happy to hear you liked Roosevelt documentary, I always worry throwing a recommendation out there and someone not actually liking it!
Ok another one of your videos that i didn't see when i tried to start from the beginning. This is my hood. Growing up in Arlington I would have to be tour guide for visiting friends and relatives and I will say I have yet to see it all. Seeing how young your kids are in this video versus the Feb 20 2021 Yellowstone makes me think how fast they grow up. My baby girl is getting married in May and i can still remember her around this age (insert tearing emoji here). Martz is a terrible company. I think you must need to have a bad driving record, be rude and nasty to drive for them. Our bus drivers always had issues with them.
Congratulations on the new son in law! It’s hard work giving away a daughter , I’m trying not to think about it😥 this comment reminded me that we needed to make playlists, one of them being to play them all in order. Sorry it wasn’t done before! Thank you
Corey, I'm just like you regarding coffee, gotta have a lot of extras. I call it play coffee. But it sure tastes great. What were the girls favorite thing at the Bible Museum? Back when I was a kid (1975-1976) when I was 13 we traveled for a year with another family in a motor home and a greyhound bus conversation. It was before home schooling was popular but we had 2 teatchers travel with us for the 6 kids total. We used a Christian curriculum call ABECA when it was fairly new only in business for about 3 years. What curriculum do you all use? Funny thing was one of my 3 sisters home schooled all 4 of her know da using the same ABEKA curriculum thatwe had on the road when we were kids. I would love be to talk my wife I to hitting the road like you all Being able to take our 5 grand kids(maybe my at one time). You all seem like a nice wholesome family. Do you do any kind of church on the road?
I was homeschooled in middle school (early 90s) and my mom used Abeca . My wife uses a few different things (all about reading, all about spelling, teaching textbooks for math, and all in one homeschool.com, and a couple other resources) that’s awesome about the converted bus! Jess’s family was on the road a little in a bus, she toured with her family’s gospel singing group, they even recorded a few albums in Nashville.
TheLightPainter52 we didn’t stop anywhere this time through. We’ve met some people in our travels that have property in PA that we want to visit some time though! Are you from there or looking for ideas?
@@FindingOurSomeday I live in eastern Pa for a few more months till I head out full-time. If you are interested in places to check out in Pa let me know. Dan
You all are so cute...one daughter looks like Dad and one looks like Mom. 😁 Two mini's! My 2 oldest boys are each hubby and I in younger form....then we went on to adopt 4 kids from china. Ironically, all 4 of our china treasures look like asian versions of our oldest 2, right down to hairline, build, personality, facial expressions, personalities and even have same health issues. HMMMM. We see easily God is in the details!!! Love your videos....
Lisa B. They are our minis for sure! I pray the health issues are not severe... God is in the details! Thank you so much for watching ! Have a great weekend 😊
@@FindingOurSomeday Our families health issues on a whole are not severe, long as we dont get around certain things due to allergies, celiac, asthma....8 out of 8 of us are severely allergic to everything, some of us have celiac and asthma. I on the other hand have tons of health issues, too many to mention...but the key for me is managing them all. Ugh
Dash cam, dash cam, dash cam. When I was there last summer, I cheated. My son works in DC and he drove me around and he knew all the places to park. He wore me out. I'm not used to all the walking and stairs. (apparently) I have only one step in my house from the garage to the house...
Used to live in nj and have driven that drive many times and you think it would be better but no different. We live in Fl. Now and all that driving has paid off because the worse drivers live in Florida especially on the gulf coast 🤦♀️🙅🏼♀️
Send the video to the bus company. Someone needs a timeout in the unemployment office. I would have messed up the drivers afternoon. Doing nothing fixes nothing
Completely understand the city driving experience. It’s pretty dangerous. From Shawshank Redemption, “The world went and got itself in a big hurry.” Once a TT passes me I flash my lights to let him know he is clear to move in. With what happened to you, not much you can do but hit the breaks. If you and the trailer locked up and went into a nice straight skid then at least that is good. It’s telling you that the electric brake is adjusted correctly and braking first and your truck brakes are working evenly. Where you will definitely enter the danger zone is when you try to swerve with all that weight behind you. It’s going to go over and taking you with it. Regardless of the speed limit it’s safe handling and braking if you keep it 60-65 and in the rain depending on conditions you might be as slow as 40. As long as you remember all that weight back there changes the physics of survival against the idiots. Actually I think I’m preaching to the choir. Heck from Maine to Florida to out west to Alaska and back, you got this. My compliments and I will give myself a “time-out”. Your are the traveling man now!!!!
There was definitely no option to swerve, and like you say I wouldn’t have. There was a dump truck on the other side of us. Still some of the worst driving we have experienced . it was bad timing on my part ...
Finding Our Someday You did fine, your family is alive and safe. That’s all that counts. A heck of a learning experience. Also advice at end is spot on!
What’s your scariest experience on the road?
We had a deer jump between our truck and travel trailer in July in Kansas during a heat wave the temperature was 118 the blacktop two lane highway was a horrible place to have to stop and make emergency repairs to the front of our travel trailer. My husband ended having heat exhaustion the DPS Officer that stopped to help called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. My husband was ok after treatment. We learned that we should had drinks with electrolytes as well as the water we were drinking.
My wife's driving 😆.

Lisa with UA-cam.com/LivingCoast2Coast oh wow! You definitely dont want to mess around too much in the heat! Sounds like the officer was helpful!
Cars pulling too closely in front of me after passing-only to exit on right, with no one behind me. Once in San Diego, once coming off Cape Cod. (Class B)
Thank you for explaining the dark spots on pavement.

Thanks for the tip about the bumps. I drove a bus for 20 years and never knew that one.
You are so right about the Northeast being tight with everything. Love the dark oil spots tip and all the D.C. tips- thanks for sharing! Safe travels!
Jill Avery happy to hear you found that tip helpful! Thank you 😊
If you go to DC again with the kids, I highly recommend the Native American Indian Museum, the Capitol Building for the awesome art work on the ceilings through out the rooms and you must ride one of the double decker buses.
Jack Miller it’s a rough route for sure! We did have fun in DC ! We do a lobster bake while we’re in Maine😃🦞
Finding Our Someday Glad you had fun in D.C. I hope to take my kids there one of these summers. This summer is Lake Champlain in northern Vermont
Lobster bake... that’s awesome! I’m from PA, and when I was driving I got Maine every week for years. Needless to say I am spoiled for life on their “caught that day” seafood at the coastal restaurants.
Jack Miller yup, you’re spoiled for life😃 I’ve heard great things about Lake Champlain, sounds like it’s going to amazing!
LOL
I've just started binge watching your channel from the beginning, if you're wondering. :)
I strongly recommend The National Museum of Natural History!
Outdoor Atheist we did it 😃
Soooo glad nothing worse happened. 4 chokes minimum. slow and deliberate. don't allow interruptions while setting-up or breaking camp. Thanks for your transparency. You rock!
Mike Hogan we’re glad too! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! You Rock!
A cab ride the length of the Mall is one of the best things to spend your money on in DC.
That’s a cool idea!
welcome to DMV Area.
We want to get a hotel room for a night and do DC at night next time😃
diving for 40 years and never knew about the oil spots. THANKS!
Mike Hogan awesome! Thanks so much for watching 😊
Thank you for telling me about this. They don’t seem to affect you much when driving a car. However, I will be more aware in the future.
People not giving enough room when they pull over in front of you is one of my husbands biggest pet peeves. He drives a big truck and they do it to him all the time and they do it when we are pulling the trailer.
Bill and Kelley Adventures you definitely want to be on the defense! We make sure to never linger next to anything big.
Ur absolutely right, DC at night is a whole new experience, I live near there and nothing like it.
hammertime1865 it’s definitely on the top of the list for the future! Can’t wait to see every thing lit up!
GREAT tips! Love GasBuddy.
DC is amazing! I could spend a month exploring...easy
RV Mush thanks so much! GasBuddy has been so helpful to us. And we can’t wait to go back and spend way more time in Washington, DC! 👍
Wauw. What a nice channel. beautiful picture it is a joy to look at. Greetz from holland
Camperino's on the Roll Camperreizen thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! 😃
Yes you do need to DC at night we did the bus ride and it was great. My scariest moment was getting a blowout on my camper 200 miles later a second one
How's my driving!!! to a whole new level. I am hoping you informed that bus company about this near miss. it could maybe save a life down the road.
They actually reached out to us after the video was released, we gave them some info , but I never followed back up after fact. The video doesn’t really show it , but I’m not sure how he didn’t hit us. He didn’t just change lanes , he swerved into the lane enough to make the bus tilt sideways. Just happy he did miss us😃
Love the tip on dark oil spots! I’ve always used them as a gauge also but never heard the tip. 👍🏻
Wheelin' with the Wendes if the road is old enough those oil spots are super helpful! The other thing I watch is the white lines up the road on the opposite side to spot dips😃
Funny what was said about the coffee being like a milkshake I thought I was the only one.
BROTHER Love you’re not the only one! I’m glad you’re here to support me 🙏😂
Glad you are alright!
L. Alan Wild good advise! The EZ pass is a huge time saver! Thank you for watching 😊
Looks like we had a little bit better weather when we visited 😃 you guys had quite the adventure weather wise! Thanks for watching 😊🙏
Wow that bus was scary! Glad you're all okay.
Lake Lili thank you, we’re glad too😃 it was a close one!
What bus? I gave up at cupcakes.
Mike is a pilot but when we were there he was working full time and commuting to school full time at Harvard 😳
you should try and get independent suspension for your trailer it improves you ride so much
Totally agree with traveling the east coast, definitely so much more stressful compared to the Midwest and out West.
Definitely make DC a destination!
klbarton81 that’s a scary situation to come upon..... no doubt the effects of that will always stay with you.... we’ve driven the 75 several times, actually we were on it in our previous episode.
Welcome to Baltimore Maryland Corey and Family. Make sure you try the steamed crabs or at least a crab cake from one our seafood restaurants.
Mmm crab! We will have to put that on the list of things to eat!
Suggestion for DC for next time. Find a hotel near a Metro station (Alexandria, etc.) and use that to get into town. Most hotels outside of the city proper may even be willing to let you park the rig (but only if you stay in the hotel).
PAKoffee10 sounds like a pretty good plan!
Great video- the dark spots on the road was insightful. Don’t be shy about sending the bus company your video! I would be interested in their response. Safe Travels:)
Donna Dombowsky haha, hopefully the bus company comes across the video😃 so glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching 😊
How did they not hit you? I used to drive school buses, and I have seen some close calls. I am so glad that Shelley and I are going back and watching you guys from the beginning. In real-time, this episode would have scared me even more for your safety. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels -Craig
My heart stopped guys! Wow! I totally get the traffic because we are from the the southeast. So happy all is well.
Lou💚
Eat Sleep RV Repeat yup all good, could have been way worse! It was literally an inch from our truck.
Renee' S. That’s a huge compliment, thank you 😊 so glad you enjoyed it!
I literally just got off from my shift working remotely from home to get back into my binge watching FOS so yeah I have the bug to get a camper and get out full time...been dreaming about it forever....hopefully life will let it happen
Easypass is very helpful for tolls and Bridges in the Northeast
Dale Lewis the ezpass definitely makes it easier😃
We use gas buddy , and it’s a life saver anyway guys we love your content and hope to see you someday be safe and have fun
Thank you so much for watching and joining us on our journey!
“...yeah we’ll take that” lol
Heading that way this Fall after the Grand Design Rally in August and starting our full time fun! Love the videos!
Late summer/fall is the best time to be in the northeast, especially Maine! You will love it! What rig do you have?
@@FindingOurSomeday We have a Reflection 297RSTS. It's been great so far and we love it. We spent the winter in Florida which was our test for full time. I've been ready, but momma needed a little more convincing. On the way back to home base in Louisville, Ky., she said let's do it. So here we are lol, clearing out the house!
Ken and Jos Excellent Adventure looks like lots of seating in that layout! Glad things went well in Florida! That’s exciting, it’s a pretty amazing feeling getting rid of stuff! At the same time it’s also scary!
Great video and tips!
Apartment B 🙏 stoked you liked it😃 thank you!
Great video . You guys did a great job. May 4th is the best birthday!, I have to find better friends! When are you heading to Colorado?
Another very well put together episode! Good work!
ShoHashi that’s very nice of you to say ! Happy to read this😊 thank you , and thanks for watching!
Forgot to add...I've always wanted to go to DC...we're up here in Central PA, just never made it yet! Now that I'm retired, we'll have to make time for it!
ShoHashi DC is a must! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
If you’re above or at least at the speed limit who cares what the guy behind you thinks😳 I feel strange not pronouncing the T 😂
This was a good one. Well done. Much Love - SSChefs
Semiserious Chefs thanks so much for watching and commenting! It really means a lot!
Buses and trucks are not allowed to travel in the fast lane, far left lane unless there are 2 lanes. And they are passing.
277kne I wish those guys knew that rule 😃
Just got back from 2600 mile road trip from NC to northern Maine. Traffic and people drive like lunatics.
Frank Miller it’s so much easier driving out west!
How do u ever merge when trucks cannot or will not get over? 1 almost hit me yesterday!
Hi guys! Great job with the video. What is your route through Pa? Any stops planned? Dan
Dan

Such a perfect time to release this vlog. Thanks to all who served🇺🇸. Great tips. Safe travels.
Susan Amberg thanks for watching, have a great weekend!
Ugh
Could you tell me the date and time of that miscue by our driver?
Steve Powell hey Steve, shoot me an email if you don’t mind... it’s Corey at coreymichaelphoto.com .
We loved DC also however I cant believe you wore flip flops my feet would have fallen off. I want to go back needed more time.
Biodome!!!
Jeremy Isaac yesss! Someone else has seen it😂
@@FindingOurSomeday definitely remember watching it as a teen. Was Bud and Doyl? I cant remember everything but I do remember the movie.
Dash cam, dash cam, dash cam. When I was there last summer, I cheated. My son works in DC and he drove me around and he knew all the places to park. He wore me out. I'm not used to all the walking and stairs. (apparently) I have only one step in my house from the garage to the house...
rjr 4949 dash cams are a good idea! It’s good to be able to take advantage of a “local”😎 So much walking in DC 😅
Washington DC traffic sucks anytime of day, I'm so glad my daughter moved away from there so i don't have to worry about her every day
Dale Lewis it’s way too stressful to deal with on a day to day basis!
Used to live in nj and have driven that drive many times and you think it would be better but no different. We live in Fl. Now and all that driving has paid off because the worse drivers live in Florida especially on the gulf coast 🤦♀️🙅🏼♀️
Kyle Pifer bad drivers everywhere 😂 the problem is, driving has become a secondary activity while sitting in the drivers seat....
should have reported them to the police. that was way too scary.
Send the video to the bus company.

Good job!
Completely understand the city driving experience. It’s pretty dangerous. From Shawshank Redemption, “The world went and got itself in a big hurry.” Once a TT passes me I flash my lights to let him know he is clear to move in. With what happened to you, not much you can do but hit the breaks. If you and the trailer
locked up and went into a nice straight skid then at least that is good.
All you do is wash that truck. You visit friends and you even wash it there and the RV please give your head a shake. It’s just a truck
