@@JoATTech There is a gyroflow plugin for NLEs like Davinci resolve. Gyroflow can't use all the information from Sony cameras but it's still pretty good
You sold me on little Dougie "Sony ZV-E10" over a year ago. After a year, I upgraded my kit lens to a sigma 16m 1.4, that you recommended. Great setup for new UA-cam Creators. After 3500 subs, Now i'm looking into upgrading little Dougie to Sony FX30 or full frame as my main camera. Little Dougie will become my 2nd camera angle. Thank you much for all your help Mark. Mark your reviews are so great to watch. Talking about cameras can be super "tech-ky" & information overload "ing" but somehow someway your natural sense of humour compliments the videos so well, the video ends up being super informative and way funnier than an episode of friends ever will.
Sony shooter here. For me it was the auto focus and ecosystem. As a rookie it was important to me to have budget friendly quality options and reliable af to help me along.
I've personally thrown in with Sony APS-C. An FX30 and a ZV-E10 with the Sigma trio and a zoom. I'm a marketing manager shooting for work and wanting to get into content creation and the cost savings going with crop sensor only has allowed me to buy other goodies, great audio, lighting and a DJI Air 2s, which is like a son to me and who I take on playdates to the park. Eventually I'll offload the APS-C gear and go to full frame, but I can't imagine going anywhere else other than Sony right now because of the ecosystem - the lens selection, the really cool digital audio stuff, the AF.

I used to be a Canon girl, but like you said...the lens selection! Price and avaialability. The ZV-E10 is my first forray into this Sony galaxy and I am definitely loving it over here. I watch your videos about lenses and I'm like wow...I can actually afford that lol. When I get my next [Sony] camera I don't have to worry about what lenses to get because I already have some.
Great video as always Mark. Makes me feel good owning an A7IV and ZV E10. But I have to confess, I also got myself a used Leica Q2 monochrome and I have to say: these monochrome sensors are on a totally different level regarding low light performance, if you prefer black and white photography. ISO 10.000 - 20.000? No problem :D

I had a G9 for a while, switched to S5 at the wrong time (S5 Ii came out about a month after). Auto-focus is the thing for doing videos. So I'm trying to decide at this point - either go with S5ii or switch to FX30/a7C, while it's not too late (I've got only 3 l-mount lenses so far).
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. I originally chose Sony (a6400... for now) simply because most of my friends were shooting with Sony so I knew I would have better access to borrowing lenses, accessories, etc. When I decided to quit my job and go to film school, I knew I was going to have to buy a new camera eventually anyway, and I really thought about switching to my school's preferred brand, Canon. But when I really looked at the two brands and compared them, for me it also came down to the ecosystem. It's not just the abundance of lenses and accessories available, though. It's the combination of Sony's clearly mapped out path of progression for whatever is important to the user making sure that there is a product available for almost anyone, and the assurance that no matter where you jump into the ecosystem you will be able to use the equipment you buy with virtually any other stage of equipment. For example, I'm a student, so budget is very important to me. I recently grabbed the APS-C 15mm F1.4 G lens for my A6400. Knowing that if I were to get a job tomorrow that would require me to buy an A1 or an FX6, I could use that lens on them as well, that's huge. Their entry level is interchangeable with their professional grade, and I don't think that really gets stressed enough. It's not just that they have a better ecosystem, but the fact that their ecosystem accommodates and encourages the growth of artists at every level.
Wouldn't it make sense to rent cameras for a job? Only reason why I've used my Sony for gigs is because it's between my camera that I'm used to and the workplaces' original R6 (which is often anyway on some simoultenous gig) because the budget isn't large enough to cover renting camera gear.
I'm still a relative novice shooting videos mainly, so far I've got an rx100mkIII, zv1and zve10 w/16mm1.4 sigma lens. I'm happy with my gear as it gives me room to grow, I'm a firm believer in "earning your gear" for now what I have is ideal for my skill level. Actually you're the main reason why I ended up staying in the sony eco system, your reviews especially on the zve10 really helped alot. Anyway keep up the good work, Love your content!
went with Sony ZV-E10 for my first camera. shooting some basic talking head videos and love doing photography as a hobby. sometimes I wonder if I should've gotten the a6400 for the EVF (but it's so small idk if I would've really liked it anyways), but so far, I'm really happy with it.

Awesome content. you have inspired me to get my first ZVE-10 for filming my fishing channel. i got fed up with all the inherent problems with the go pro line and jumped ship. I'm still learning how to use it but WOW. what a massive difference it makes. UNREAL. I'm keeping tuned for more settings vids on the Sony for a more set and forget daytime shoot. as the idea is to focus on fishing, not filming. keep it up mate. absolute legend
Switched from Canon to Sony few years back. Night photography was my favorite thing and the A7III seemed to be the one to beat back then (and probably still is). Also loving my A7IV and the lens and accessory selection for Sony. Major things need to happen before I switch to something else.
I've shot with Sony since I got into photography in 2014 with an A-Mount A58. I moved to an A7ii a year later and today I have an A7iii and A6400 as my two main cameras - I've been invested in Sony for so long it doesn't make sense to switch. It's funny to hear 'they are one of the major players' argument at 8:41 in your video as that was not always the case, for the longest time no one carried Sony, the shops only carried Canon/Nikon (sometimes Pentax) and I had to buy everything online, it's only been recent years where Sony's been so good they've forced their way in to local camera shops (which out in the Maritimes there aren't many). Like the videos, keep it up!

Great video and makes sense! I have a few different camera brands (including Sony - but no Kodak) and do like MFT largely for small lenses plus Panny and OM have incredible IBIS which makes them great for travel and video. Depends on your needs. I also tend to be a small camera addict! Your videos have me leaning towards same conclusion though, but maybe keep a MFT for ‘fun’ shooting. Hope the family recovers soon!

I'm a youtuber who is at the beginning of a lot of events. I used my iphone 12 pro max for 1 year. Actually, the camera I wanted to buy was fujifilm xt4. But where I am, the price has increased by 400%. That's why I focused on entry-level cameras. I was going to buy canon r10 . Looking at the reviews, I suspected the Canon R10 was overrated. I tried r10 in a store. It definitely needed a separate lens for my use case. Why I wanted to choose Canon 10-bit color range 4k 60fps No shooting time limit Not warming up. but a friend recommended sony zve10. For Sony ZvE10, I think this camera is not fully explained. For example, the Catalyst browse software is a huge plus. In the reviews They said there is a heating problem. But I noticed that they tested it without the temperature setting you previously made. So i rethink what i need the 10-bit color range 4k 60 fps features These are not important for my usage. But lens selection And the catalyst browse Verry important... Same here. I switched from canon. I had 4 different type of canon lens. EF, EFs, M mount and RF. Glad I left now they also have RFs , besides I love sigma glass 😂
Ok, been lurking on the channel (as a new ZV-E10 owner) and trying to cut down on my YT subscribes....but the Kodak joke there put me over the edge....Subscribed....nice job. Also, I'm a Canon shooter mostly and the ZV-E10 was a purchase to adapt old lenses I had, but getting more and more impressed with it (and Sony)....only wish the menus were from what I hear the 'new sony' ones...
The S5II had my brain going down the same road. The main factor for me was the lens selection. One day Panasonic might get me to switch but for now Sony is king. I own an A7SIII, two A74’s, and an ZV-e10.
So how many lenses you need? I need two primes and a zoom. Which lense you dont get from panasonic? E mount has more lenses but its just more of the same and most of the lenses are old with heavy focus breathing. I need quality not quantity
I like that the Panasonic S5 and S5 II have by far the most detailed 1080p in any camera system, from what I've seen. ZV-E10 and any Sony APS-C is dreadful for 1080p (basically looks like 540p or 720p upsampled...). Though they're absolutely great and detailed in 4k.

Had the ZV-E10 to replace my a6000 just for 4K reasons (still love the a6000!), then bought my first Sony FF with two really great lenses, so I am somehow fixed to it - wouldn't invest so much money into a new body AND new lenses, would rather stay with Sony regarding both. - Many thanks!
Great title! My ”main” camera system! :D It's very useful to have a second camera system, for certain uses, if you can afford them. It also helps with not becoming a brand fanatic, and also widening your horizons and understanding what others do good/better (and worse), if that can and how it can benefit you. For instance, using an OM-1 with a 100 400 as a relatively light and compact, but powerful, long-reach daytime wildlife camera.
I started out using a go pro when I got in to video many years ago in hero 2 days. I then went to Sony as10 (still have it to this day). Then I dabbled in dslr with a canon t6. While it took great photos, it lacked in the video department imo. So I went to using my phone and still use it. However I am going to be going Sony on my next dslr purchase. I just love the image they produce and their trickled down tech in their more inexpensive models.
Fully agree. But I still have two Canon lenses from previous cameras, so hoping to test one of our Metabones Ultra adapters with the upcoming ZV-E1. Which adapters have you tested and found to extend the life of any EF-lenses you might have come across? Adapters do not receive a lot of love on YT.
Hey Mark, I just started to shoot static nature videos - sea waves, seagulls, cinematic sunrises (you see, I like sea and everything which has [si] in pronouncing) just recently. I fell in love with your doggy (zv e-10 to be clear) and sigma lenses. Now I’m sitting on the cliff above the Baleáric sea in Spain, overseeing my zv e-10 with 16 mm f/1,4 Sigma attached and shooting stars in a night lapse. I just wanted to say thank you! Without you I would definitely not spending upcoming 8 hours sitting off the cliff. Love it! You are gorgeous!
I want the Panasonic s5ii BUT money is an issue so I have the ZV-e10. I haven't replaced the kit lens yet as I will be building out a studio in my new place and want to figure out my setup and camera distance first.
I've always wished Panasonic could make their full frame and micro 4/3 lenses and bodies interchangeable like Sony. The beauty of having an A7IV and using the same lenses on the ZVE10 is an incredible advantage.
I love Sony. I have Sony. Everything you said is true. But deep sincerely I'm waiting for the release of the Canon EOS R5 Mark II to reevaluate the situation. (it will cost too much, I know.)
I to own the A7IV. My decision was based on the need to have the highest resolution but at the same time good low light performance. I know the A7SIII is the king of low light and the A1 has 50 MP, but for me the A7IV sits right in the middle and has the best of both worlds with a resolution of 33 MP at a price you can't complain about. Besides, you just have to stop chasing after the latest and greatest at some point and just go out and create something. For me is make money, not spend it.
yes - I wanted an A7RIV at the time for photos, or the a7siii for video, but the A7iv was cheaper than both and a much better hybrid than both. I’m happy with the camera for sure
I went with Sony myself, currently have the zve10 cause it was a cheap Camera that could do videos amd even some photos. I wanted to help with content creation for the wife but have mostly used it for photography even with the lack of an evf. I'm glad I did go with Sony because of the lense capability also looking to get a new body soon.
Right! Imagine someone OUTSIDE Toronto trying to find some obscure camera gear (looking at you, Vancouver!!!!). Btw, I just discovered that Gyroflow works just as well as Catalyst Browse, and it's free (and lets me use the queue). But you probably knew that already.
I use the ZV-E10 with a sigma 16mm to mostly film at parties and take some pictures in burst, i bought the sigma 16mm after seeing your video's and it is the best combination, i hired a Sony A7 IV with a equivalent of the sigma 16mm from sony with it, tested it and decided a 2nd ZV-E10 with a 30mm sigma would fit my needs better, maybe the pictures on the A7 IV would be better but that extra quality didn't justify the price, instead i bought a 2nd DJI RS3 gimbal to make those automated shots you can easely program with the display and some rode wireless mic set and saved a few bucks. Thinking to even buy a 2nd sigma 16mm because that combination is so sweet, without any color profile the colors are amazing in low light, mostly its setting the right focus area and speed and that little ZV-E10 is just an amazing camera, i also bought the smallrig stand you featured on your channel, thinking about the FX30 but i don't record in higer framerates then 24FPS, IDK, feels like it would be wasting money unless you have something to say what would be a reason to buy it, because your video's made me buy that sweet sigma 16mm and i would buy a FX30 if you would say i can improve the quality even further...??? Oh yeah i also bought the Ulanzi quick release plates because of you and IDK if you ever reviewed a seymor vibe RGB little light from smallrig, those little lights are amazing, i run them at 1% and get a nice max ISO of 400 when filming at dark parties...

Very cool 😎 Decided to stick with m43, G7 and G9 for now, I'll replace the G7 with a G9 and put them both into permanent service mode for 4k 60 unlimited and all the other modes unlimited. I just got nearly 10 MF lenses including some really cool Helios, Soligor and Takumar M42 mount for the G9/G7 setups and then with the new m43 PDAF camera they release (hopefully a photo camera) then I'd be set and I've got the full studio in 3 good cameras. I still have the ZV-1 and ZV-E10 and I'll be able to adapt some glass to Dougie but I just can't go with Sony as a photo camera, I want APS-C and they're cutting me out. 1st world problems. Oh, I'm headed to TO this weekend again, Vistek on Monday morning! Great video as always man
Ever since I’ve been watching your channel, I am more and more convinced switching from my Nikon to Sony. Problem is that I have a few Nikon lenses and also a flash system. Silly question here: do the Nikon flash system (three Godox simple flashes) work with APSC Sony ?
You can get an adapter to use Nikon F lenses to E mount but not the Z lenses. If your flashes are Godox flashes - they should work with Sony. You can get the GODOX TT350 transmitter and likely use all of your flashes. Check out this video by Gerald Undone ua-cam.com/video/OoBQee1u0Ok/v-deo.html
Hello from the U.K Mark, i love your videos, i hope your life is doing well. Thank you. Please may you make a video about the marker display setting with the zve10. There is an option for 80 and 90 percent. At first i didnt know what this is, but now i realise it is for the crop in post using catalyst browse. It marks 80 or 90 percent of the display with a white border so you know that if your shot is within the lines, you can apply a crop in post and you will lose no footage due to crop. Check it out if you have time, if you think it will be useful for others to know in a video. Im not sure if you mentioned it before, i cant remember. Thanks again for this content, always helps me out and motivates me .
the marker displays are actually safety zones because some television displays will only show 80 or 90% of your image (similar to a “title safe” zone. BUT your thought of cropping later with catalyst at 80 or 90 percent is actually a great use of these borders!! I will try to mention it in an upcoming video
Drinking my apple juice and enjoying the most handsomest creator on the inter-webs talk about Sony paraphernalia had me wax nostalgic about my early years shooting Nikon F2 stuff in the 70's. Fast forward; Quite by accident, I too switched (full-tilt) to Sony starting with the a7Siii and going from there sooo, YEP!, my favorite is still Walter (my white ZV-E10) but........ the sexy A7Rv he's sitting next to it is, well,....sexy as hell, and she's very photogenic to-boot, so Walter wants to know her name but is too timid to ask. Any suggestions for a name he can call his new heartthrob?
Been using Sony since 2017, see little reason to switch my nice eco-system of lenses. Since my full frame Sony cameras are high resolution, I realized that I had little reason to have an APSC system. And then OMDS released that 90mm macro, that did it for me - my APSC system has been switched to MFT with mostly Olympus gear.
Sony has a camera for anything. Thats super fine if you got lots of money. I have not so for me panasonic is the best choice as they make great cameras that can do most of it in one camera. I still own my trusty gh5 and it still has many advantages compared to more expensive cameras, next i will buy a gh6 or a s52
Primarily a stills photographer, I was using Olympus M43 when landed on Sony after buying a used RX1r2 with that awesome Zeiss lens. So I get the Sony love. Then I bought and still own the entire line of A7 R camera bodies with way too many lenses (Sigma, Sony, Zeiss). Would love a dedicated monochrome camera, but might have one of my older ‘R’ bodies converted. I don’t Leica having no money…
Hello Mark. Greetings from Argentina. Here all cameras and lenses are expensive for us, but Sony has much better prices than other brands. I'm currently using the A6100, but since I use it almost exclusively for video I'm thinking of switching to the Zv-E10.
Great video! I am on Canon and Pan m 4/3. I have been thinking of jumping over to Sony for all the reasons that you mentioned. Although, I really like the look of the s5ii. Even though it's nice to have 100s of lens options, I have found the focal lengths that I suit what I do on Canon and i would have to experiment on a new system. How do you find the S5 autofocus on full body shots? Most cameras are pretty good when the face takes up a lot of the frame, but struggle with full body. My canon struggles with this. Is the S5 reliable? Thanks again for all your great and friendly content!
I think the S5ii autofocus is plenty reliable. Haven’t any any trouble with further away full body shots. If you have the focal lengths and you have Panasonic m4/3, then the s5 makes sense for sure. I really like the sony system overall, but go with your instinct and get the one that feels right to you.
I was an olympus 4/3 user in about 15 years ago. I tried canon..but just did not enjoy the experience. I purchased a zv-E10 for use as a webcam...which has been fantastic when used with an elgato hdmi capture card. I now have the A7R5 and my wife has the A74. I am very happy I switched. Ita a pity I don't have the skills to use what I have...but its fun trying.
I do not have a camera yet, but I do love cameras and I would like to get one but I'm having trouble deciding between Sony & Nikon... A camera crisis!!!
I switched 4 years ago and never looked back. There was never a moment I felt the need to have any other platform other than Sony. Stick with what works best for you, don’t follow the hype… just try and if it fits like gloves then that camera is for you.
Just got the ZV-E10 after a few of your videos and paired with the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 I couldn't be happier. Your videos really helped! Switching from the exact same Lumix cameras as you (GH5, G7) I spent a few weeks with a leased A7IV and as much as I love the full frame, the E10 is such an amazing value to start with in the Sony ecosystem. Keep 'em coming!
LOVE Canon touch screen interface/menus and ergonomics. But everything else including build quality is just better on Sony. Of course the Canon 1dx will still attain its legendary status.
As a Canon M series user, Sony are always be my target, at least for now. Nowadays, Canon and Nikon are both outrageous in terms of price and avaliability. Sony is the red straight line for me especially APSC a6xxx series albiet lacking on IBIS. Cheaper third party lens is what I need. Although, Canon new APSC cameras from RF-mount series would have been very interesting choice if they don't ban third party AF lens.
Hi I’m a newbie that has been doing research for the last several months, yes months. I thought I was sold on Sony due to the ecosystem. I mainly want to do real estate photography and sports. Fuji seems to do a great job with the cont. fps. For sports but lens options don’t seem too diverse. Also the bodies seem to be less expensive. What am I missing 😢😢😢
you’re not really missing anything - Fuji is great. They are apsc bodies, so you won’t get the same blurry background as easily compared to full frame. But that isn’t going to be an issue with what you’re shooting. just make sure the camera has a fast burst rate for sports like the XH2S. Sony has so many lenses and bodies available for every price point and they have done a great job on the video front as well. but every system is good right now (although Canon R does not have many budget lenses). you just hav to pick what one is best for you.
Like you I love all cameras Sony is at the top of my list for many of my photography needs. By and large they have just about everything you would need for most types of photography. For wildlife video I choose Canon because I feel their IBIS is better at up to 400mm but for vlogging their IBIS is pretty aggressive. I love the R5 for bird photography as well but other than that I would pick up my Sony in most cases. Fuji comes with me if I am out and about in town and that Panasonic S5ii is growing on my for vlogging although it's a bit large. Luckily you and I seem to have a great camera budget but if I could buy just one camera for my photo and video needs the Sony a7iv is the winner by far. Cheers.

Since you have both Sony APSC and full frame, when do decide to take out APSC? Besides lighter weight, any other advantages? Thinking of selling APSC bodies now that I have full frame. I’m always grabbing A7IV.
I have Sony zve10 when I put the camera in 10s to take a single shot by my self on my tripod why is the pictures blurry. My pictures are only clear when some one takes it … but if I’m taking it my self it’s blurry . What settings should it be on for my picture to be clear if I don’t have on one to take it , . ???
Your autofocus will be set when you press the shutter - so when when you move in front, you will not be in focus. You can use the app and press it that way when you're all set and then the focus will be when it should.

I find that you do one clip and then press the 'X" to close "Correct Clip" and then it says - "you'll lose your changes" - but that doesn't matter and I click OK. Then I have no crashers.
Choosing between "ecosystems" is tough ... My corporate brain and my personal brain are at odds. I am trying convince my shop to move away from Nikon, and I am pushing for Sony. Sony seems to have a good grip on the "do everything" market. We have employees come and go, and we need everything from professional photos to ENG run and gun video, and every once in a while high end video. Now, if an individual came up to me and asked where to start, I would recommend Canon's ecosystem because it gives you more options in the long run, especially for video. You have Canon, Black Magic and now RED that all have their toes in the Canon ecosystem.
I SUPER messed it up. 🤣🤣 Talked about a stabilized lens that wasn’t stabilized. Like a dummy. And then when I went to reshoot it - I realized that I’m tired of people fighting in the comments section. So I’ll address the stabilization of each camera on their own.

Sony shooter here. For me it was the auto focus and ecosystem. As a rookie it was important to me to have budget friendly quality options and reliable af to help me along.
I've personally thrown in with Sony APS-C. An FX30 and a ZV-E10 with the Sigma trio and a zoom. I'm a marketing manager shooting for work and wanting to get into content creation and the cost savings going with crop sensor only has allowed me to buy other goodies, great audio, lighting and a DJI Air 2s, which is like a son to me and who I take on playdates to the park. Eventually I'll offload the APS-C gear and go to full frame, but I can't imagine going anywhere else other than Sony right now because of the ecosystem - the lens selection, the really cool digital audio stuff, the AF.

I used to be a Canon girl, but like you said...the lens selection! Price and avaialability. The ZV-E10 is my first forray into this Sony galaxy and I am definitely loving it over here. I watch your videos about lenses and I'm like wow...I can actually afford that lol. When I get my next [Sony] camera I don't have to worry about what lenses to get because I already have some.

But I have to confess, I also got myself a used Leica Q2 monochrome and I have to say: these monochrome sensors are on a totally different level regarding low light performance, if you prefer black and white photography. ISO 10.000 - 20.000? No problem :D

I had a G9 for a while, switched to S5 at the wrong time (S5 Ii came out about a month after). Auto-focus is the thing for doing videos. So I'm trying to decide at this point - either go with S5ii or switch to FX30/a7C, while it's not too late (I've got only 3 l-mount lenses so far).
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. I originally chose Sony (a6400... for now) simply because most of my friends were shooting with Sony so I knew I would have better access to borrowing lenses, accessories, etc. When I decided to quit my job and go to film school, I knew I was going to have to buy a new camera eventually anyway, and I really thought about switching to my school's preferred brand, Canon. But when I really looked at the two brands and compared them, for me it also came down to the ecosystem. It's not just the abundance of lenses and accessories available, though. It's the combination of Sony's clearly mapped out path of progression for whatever is important to the user making sure that there is a product available for almost anyone, and the assurance that no matter where you jump into the ecosystem you will be able to use the equipment you buy with virtually any other stage of equipment. For example, I'm a student, so budget is very important to me. I recently grabbed the APS-C 15mm F1.4 G lens for my A6400. Knowing that if I were to get a job tomorrow that would require me to buy an A1 or an FX6, I could use that lens on them as well, that's huge. Their entry level is interchangeable with their professional grade, and I don't think that really gets stressed enough. It's not just that they have a better ecosystem, but the fact that their ecosystem accommodates and encourages the growth of artists at every level.

Wouldn't it make sense to rent cameras for a job? Only reason why I've used my Sony for gigs is because it's between my camera that I'm used to and the workplaces' original R6 (which is often anyway on some simoultenous gig) because the budget isn't large enough to cover renting camera gear.
I'm still a relative novice shooting videos mainly, so far I've got an rx100mkIII, zv1and zve10 w/16mm1.4 sigma lens. I'm happy with my gear as it gives me room to grow, I'm a firm believer in "earning your gear" for now what I have is ideal for my skill level. Actually you're the main reason why I ended up staying in the sony eco system, your reviews especially on the zve10 really helped alot.

went with Sony ZV-E10 for my first camera. shooting some basic talking head videos and love doing photography as a hobby. sometimes I wonder if I should've gotten the a6400 for the EVF (but it's so small idk if I would've really liked it anyways), but so far, I'm really happy with it.

Awesome content. you have inspired me to get my first ZVE-10 for filming my fishing channel. i got fed up with all the inherent problems with the go pro line and jumped ship. I'm still learning how to use it but WOW. what a massive difference it makes. UNREAL. I'm keeping tuned for more settings vids on the Sony for a more set and forget daytime shoot. as the idea is to focus on fishing, not filming.

Switched from Canon to Sony few years back. Night photography was my favorite thing and the A7III seemed to be the one to beat back then (and probably still is). Also loving my A7IV and the lens and accessory selection for Sony. Major things need to happen before I switch to something else.

I've shot with Sony since I got into photography in 2014 with an A-Mount A58. I moved to an A7ii a year later and today I have an A7iii and A6400 as my two main cameras - I've been invested in Sony for so long it doesn't make sense to switch. It's funny to hear 'they are one of the major players' argument at 8:41 in your video as that was not always the case, for the longest time no one carried Sony, the shops only carried Canon/Nikon (sometimes Pentax) and I had to buy everything online, it's only been recent years where Sony's been so good they've forced their way in to local camera shops (which out in the Maritimes there aren't many). Like the videos, keep it up!
Because of your thorough video on how to setup the ZV E10 for photography/cinematography, I went on ahead and purchased one……….and subbed too.

Great video and makes sense! I have a few different camera brands (including Sony - but no Kodak) and do like MFT largely for small lenses plus Panny and OM have incredible IBIS which makes them great for travel and video. Depends on your needs. I also tend to be a small camera addict! Your videos have me leaning towards same conclusion though, but maybe keep a MFT for ‘fun’ shooting. Hope the family recovers soon!
yes - if Panasonic comes out with phase detect autofocus on a micro 4/3 - I think I'll be picking one up for fun as well

I'm a youtuber who is at the beginning of a lot of events. I used my iphone 12 pro max for 1 year. Actually, the camera I wanted to buy was fujifilm xt4. But where I am, the price has increased by 400%.
That's why I focused on entry-level cameras. I was going to buy canon r10 .

Ok, been lurking on the channel (as a new ZV-E10 owner) and trying to cut down on my YT subscribes....but the Kodak joke there put me over the edge....Subscribed....nice job. Also, I'm a Canon shooter mostly and the ZV-E10 was a purchase to adapt old lenses I had, but getting more and more impressed with it (and Sony)....only wish the menus were from what I hear the 'new sony' ones...
Glad to have you aboard. Yes, the menus are much better - but after a while you'll be able to fly through the old menus.
The S5II had my brain going down the same road. The main factor for me was the lens selection. One day Panasonic might get me to switch but for now Sony is king. I own an A7SIII, two A74’s, and an ZV-e10.
So how many lenses you need? I need two primes and a zoom. Which lense you dont get from panasonic? E mount has more lenses but its just more of the same and most of the lenses are old with heavy focus breathing. I need quality not quantity
I like that the Panasonic S5 and S5 II have by far the most detailed 1080p in any camera system, from what I've seen.
ZV-E10 and any Sony APS-C is dreadful for 1080p (basically looks like 540p or 720p upsampled...). Though they're absolutely great and detailed in 4k.

Had the ZV-E10 to replace my a6000 just for 4K reasons (still love the a6000!), then bought my first Sony FF with two really great lenses, so I am somehow fixed to it - wouldn't invest so much money into a new body AND new lenses, would rather stay with Sony regarding both. - Many thanks!

It's very useful to have a second camera system, for certain uses, if you can afford them. It also helps with not becoming a brand fanatic, and also widening your horizons and understanding what others do good/better (and worse), if that can and how it can benefit you. For instance, using an OM-1 with a 100 400 as a relatively light and compact, but powerful, long-reach daytime wildlife camera.
Yup - I own the EM1 Mark III, GH5, Nikon Z30, fuji and Canon. I have a real problem 🤣
I started out using a go pro when I got in to video many years ago in hero 2 days. I then went to Sony as10 (still have it to this day). Then I dabbled in dslr with a canon t6. While it took great photos, it lacked in the video department imo. So I went to using my phone and still use it. However I am going to be going Sony on my next dslr purchase. I just love the image they produce and their trickled down tech in their more inexpensive models.

Fully agree. But I still have two Canon lenses from previous cameras, so hoping to test one of our Metabones Ultra adapters with the upcoming ZV-E1. Which adapters have you tested and found to extend the life of any EF-lenses you might have come across? Adapters do not receive a lot of love on YT.

I fell in love with your doggy (zv e-10 to be clear) and sigma lenses. Now I’m sitting on the cliff above the Baleáric sea in Spain, overseeing my zv e-10 with 16 mm f/1,4 Sigma attached and shooting stars in a night lapse.
I just wanted to say thank you! Without you I would definitely not spending upcoming 8 hours sitting off the cliff. Love it!

I want the Panasonic s5ii BUT money is an issue so I have the ZV-e10. I haven't replaced the kit lens yet as I will be building out a studio in my new place and want to figure out my setup and camera distance first.

I've always wished Panasonic could make their full frame and micro 4/3 lenses and bodies interchangeable like Sony. The beauty of having an A7IV and using the same lenses on the ZVE10 is an incredible advantage.
I love Sony. I have Sony. Everything you said is true. But deep sincerely I'm waiting for the release of the Canon EOS R5 Mark II to reevaluate the situation. (it will cost too much, I know.)
It'll cost a lot - and the lenses will cost a lot - but the results will be phenomenal.
I to own the A7IV. My decision was based on the need to have the highest resolution but at the same time good low light performance. I know the A7SIII is the king of low light and the A1 has 50 MP, but for me the A7IV sits right in the middle and has the best of both worlds with a resolution of 33 MP at a price you can't complain about. Besides, you just have to stop chasing after the latest and greatest at some point and just go out and create something. For me is make money, not spend it.
yes - I wanted an A7RIV at the time for photos, or the a7siii for video, but the A7iv was cheaper than both and a much better hybrid than both. I’m happy with the camera for sure
I went with Sony myself, currently have the zve10 cause it was a cheap Camera that could do videos amd even some photos. I wanted to help with content creation for the wife but have mostly used it for photography even with the lack of an evf. I'm glad I did go with Sony because of the lense capability also looking to get a new body soon.

I use the ZV-E10 with a sigma 16mm to mostly film at parties and take some pictures in burst, i bought the sigma 16mm after seeing your video's and it is the best combination, i hired a Sony A7 IV with a equivalent of the sigma 16mm from sony with it, tested it and decided a 2nd ZV-E10 with a 30mm sigma would fit my needs better, maybe the pictures on the A7 IV would be better but that extra quality didn't justify the price, instead i bought a 2nd DJI RS3 gimbal to make those automated shots you can easely program with the display and some rode wireless mic set and saved a few bucks. Thinking to even buy a 2nd sigma 16mm because that combination is so sweet, without any color profile the colors are amazing in low light, mostly its setting the right focus area and speed and that little ZV-E10 is just an amazing camera, i also bought the smallrig stand you featured on your channel, thinking about the FX30 but i don't record in higer framerates then 24FPS, IDK, feels like it would be wasting money unless you have something to say what would be a reason to buy it, because your video's made me buy that sweet sigma 16mm and i would buy a FX30 if you would say i can improve the quality even further...??? Oh yeah i also bought the Ulanzi quick release plates because of you and IDK if you ever reviewed a seymor vibe RGB little light from smallrig, those little lights are amazing, i run them at 1% and get a nice max ISO of 400 when filming at dark parties...

Decided to stick with m43, G7 and G9 for now, I'll replace the G7 with a G9 and put them both into permanent service mode for 4k 60 unlimited and all the other modes unlimited. I just got nearly 10 MF lenses including some really cool Helios, Soligor and Takumar M42 mount for the G9/G7 setups and then with the new m43 PDAF camera they release (hopefully a photo camera) then I'd be set and I've got the full studio in 3 good cameras. I still have the ZV-1 and ZV-E10 and I'll be able to adapt some glass to Dougie but I just can't go with Sony as a photo camera, I want APS-C and they're cutting me out. 1st world problems. Oh, I'm headed to TO this weekend again, Vistek on Monday morning! Great video as always man

Ever since I’ve been watching your channel, I am more and more convinced switching from my Nikon to Sony. Problem is that I have a few Nikon lenses and also a flash system. Silly question here: do the Nikon flash system (three Godox simple flashes) work with APSC Sony ?
You can get an adapter to use Nikon F lenses to E mount but not the Z lenses. If your flashes are Godox flashes - they should work with Sony. You can get the GODOX TT350 transmitter and likely use all of your flashes. Check out this video by Gerald Undone ua-cam.com/video/OoBQee1u0Ok/v-deo.html

Please may you make a video about the marker display setting with the zve10. There is an option for 80 and 90 percent. At first i didnt know what this is, but now i realise it is for the crop in post using catalyst browse.
It marks 80 or 90 percent of the display with a white border so you know that if your shot is within the lines, you can apply a crop in post and you will lose no footage due to crop.
Check it out if you have time, if you think it will be useful for others to know in a video.

the marker displays are actually safety zones because some television displays will only show 80 or 90% of your image (similar to a “title safe” zone. BUT your thought of cropping later with catalyst at 80 or 90 percent is actually a great use of these borders!! I will try to mention it in an upcoming video
Drinking my apple juice and enjoying the most handsomest creator on the inter-webs talk about Sony paraphernalia had me wax nostalgic about my early years shooting Nikon F2 stuff in the 70's. Fast forward; Quite by accident, I too switched (full-tilt) to Sony starting with the a7Siii and going from there sooo, YEP!, my favorite is still Walter (my white ZV-E10) but........ the sexy A7Rv he's sitting next to it is, well,....sexy as hell, and she's very photogenic to-boot, so Walter wants to know her name but is too timid to ask. Any suggestions for a name he can call his new heartthrob?

Been using Sony since 2017, see little reason to switch my nice eco-system of lenses. Since my full frame Sony cameras are high resolution, I realized that I had little reason to have an APSC system. And then OMDS released that 90mm macro, that did it for me - my APSC system has been switched to MFT with mostly Olympus gear.

Sony has a camera for anything. Thats super fine if you got lots of money. I have not so for me panasonic is the best choice as they make great cameras that can do most of it in one camera. I still own my trusty gh5 and it still has many advantages compared to more expensive cameras, next i will buy a gh6 or a s52
yes - Panasonic packs so much into a camera. Sony definitely helps if you have bigger productions and plan multiple bodies and lenses
Primarily a stills photographer, I was using Olympus M43 when landed on Sony after buying a used RX1r2 with that awesome Zeiss lens. So I get the Sony love. Then I bought and still own the entire line of A7 R camera bodies with way too many lenses (Sigma, Sony, Zeiss). Would love a dedicated monochrome camera, but might have one of my older ‘R’ bodies converted. I don’t Leica having no money…

Hello Mark. Greetings from Argentina. Here all cameras and lenses are expensive for us, but Sony has much better prices than other brands. I'm currently using the A6100, but since I use it almost exclusively for video I'm thinking of switching to the Zv-E10.

I am on Canon and Pan m 4/3. I have been thinking of jumping over to Sony for all the reasons that you mentioned. Although, I really like the look of the s5ii.
Even though it's nice to have 100s of lens options, I have found the focal lengths that I suit what I do on Canon and i would have to experiment on a new system.
How do you find the S5 autofocus on full body shots? Most cameras are pretty good when the face takes up a lot of the frame, but struggle with full body. My canon struggles with this.

I think the S5ii autofocus is plenty reliable. Haven’t any any trouble with further away full body shots. If you have the focal lengths and you have Panasonic m4/3, then the s5 makes sense for sure. I really like the sony system overall, but go with your instinct and get the one that feels right to you.

I was an olympus 4/3 user in about 15 years ago. I tried canon..but just did not enjoy the experience. I purchased a zv-E10 for use as a webcam...which has been fantastic when used with an elgato hdmi capture card. I now have the A7R5 and my wife has the A74. I am very happy I switched. Ita a pity I don't have the skills to use what I have...but its fun trying.

I switched 4 years ago and never looked back. There was never a moment I felt the need to have any other platform other than Sony. Stick with what works best for you, don’t follow the hype… just try and if it fits like gloves then that camera is for you.

Switching from the exact same Lumix cameras as you (GH5, G7) I spent a few weeks with a leased A7IV and as much as I love the full frame, the E10 is such an amazing value to start with in the Sony ecosystem. LOVE Canon touch screen interface/menus and ergonomics. But everything else including build quality is just better on Sony. Of course the Canon 1dx will still attain its legendary status.

As a Canon M series user, Sony are always be my target, at least for now. Nowadays, Canon and Nikon are both outrageous in terms of price and avaliability. Sony is the red straight line for me especially APSC a6xxx series albiet lacking on IBIS. Cheaper third party lens is what I need.
Although, Canon new APSC cameras from RF-mount series would have been very interesting choice if they don't ban third party AF lens.
Make an express review of all your Sony lenses.

Hi I’m a newbie that has been doing research for the last several months, yes months. I thought I was sold on Sony due to the ecosystem. I mainly want to do real estate photography and sports. Fuji seems to do a great job with the cont. fps. For sports but lens options don’t seem too diverse. Also the bodies seem to be less expensive. What am I missing 😢😢😢
you’re not really missing anything - Fuji is great. They are apsc bodies, so you won’t get the same blurry background as easily compared to full frame. But that isn’t going to be an issue with what you’re shooting. just make sure the camera has a fast burst rate for sports like the XH2S. Sony has so many lenses and bodies available for every price point and they have done a great job on the video front as well. but every system is good right now (although Canon R does not have many budget lenses). you just hav to pick what one is best for you.

Like you I love all cameras Sony is at the top of my list for many of my photography needs. By and large they have just about everything you would need for most types of photography. For wildlife video I choose Canon because I feel their IBIS is better at up to 400mm but for vlogging their IBIS is pretty aggressive. I love the R5 for bird photography as well but other than that I would pick up my Sony in most cases. Fuji comes with me if I am out and about in town and that Panasonic S5ii is growing on my for vlogging although it's a bit large. Luckily you and I seem to have a great camera budget but if I could buy just one camera for my photo and video needs the Sony a7iv is the winner by far. Cheers.

The leaks say it will be about 2 and a half grand but I'm thinking it will be more than likely 1k since it lines up with the rest of the ZV line marketing
I love A7IV, but i record some events and overheating is my great fear. In Brazil the sun is a best :)
Brazil heat will cause any camera fits I am sure. keep the screen open and keep it out of direct sunlight because the A7iv can overheat for sure.

Since you have both Sony APSC and full frame, when do decide to take out APSC? Besides lighter weight, any other advantages? Thinking of selling APSC bodies now that I have full frame. I’m always grabbing A7IV.
I like the ZV-E10 for travel and vlogs. The FX30 is for heavy duty work, raw files, timecode, or 4k120. Other than that - I take the A7IV
I have Sony zve10 when I put the camera in 10s to take a single shot by my self on my tripod why is the pictures blurry. My pictures are only clear when some one takes it … but if I’m taking it my self it’s blurry . What settings should it be on for my picture

Your autofocus will be set when you press the shutter - so when when you move in front, you will not be in focus. You can use the app and press it that way when you're all set and then the focus will be when it should.

The A7iv is the one I use for that. good stability, no wobble at wide angles. The A7C can work, but you’ll need catalyst browse or a gimbal

My catalyst browse has been crashing after each clip! It’s been quite aggravating. Idk if it was an update wanting me to pay for the subscription
I find that you do one clip and then press the 'X" to close "Correct Clip" and then it says - "you'll lose your changes" - but that doesn't matter and I click OK. Then I have no crashers.

Every once in a while I'll look at another camera brand. But, when I consider everything that I want from a camera system I keep coming back to Sony.
Choosing between "ecosystems" is tough ... My corporate brain and my personal brain are at odds.
I am trying convince my shop to move away from Nikon, and I am pushing for Sony. Sony seems to have a good grip on the "do everything" market. We have employees come and go, and we need everything from professional photos to ENG run and gun video, and every once in a while high end video.
Now, if an individual came up to me and asked where to start, I would recommend Canon's ecosystem because it gives you more options in the long run, especially for video. You have Canon, Black Magic and now RED that all have their toes in the Canon ecosystem.

I SUPER messed it up. 🤣🤣 Talked about a stabilized lens that wasn’t stabilized. Like a dummy. And then when I went to reshoot it - I realized that I’m tired of people fighting in the comments section. So I’ll address the stabilization of each camera on their own.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis if you have time to fix the mistake, edit and publish it again - it will be great :). I was looking for this topic and there was nothing like what you did in that video. I was sharing it in my Sony E mount group on facebook for the guys who were curious about the S5II :).
Gyro is not really a benefit to me as it tends to smear the picture if the shutter speed is as low as i need it for filming.
if you’re only walking, I find the 1/50 is fine, but for fast movements, you definitely want to up that shutterspeed
