Ralph Winn I see this kind of like Bill Nye for adults. It explains science in a comprehensive way, that starts from a place of our understanding and curiosity.
Funbot 897 I don't dig RWBY's animation style and Camp Camp was just okay. Shows better than this are Ten Little Roosters and The Gauntlet (and maybe On the Spot). But as for RT shows airing right now, this is my fave.
Killer Whales have been known to hunt for sport. They are often found just throwing Sea Lions, penguins, and other ocean animals around for fun, and then just swimming away leaving the corpses floating in the water.
Sally is /such/ an awesome guest, I'm so glad you guys are doing this. It's great having someone with such an enjoyable personality and the knowledge to compliment it.
Regarding killing for "sport" as in killing for no real benefit to their survival, I think I read somewhere that Orcas will absolutely kill things for no reason other than to kill. I imagine for animals that's about as close to "sport" as you get.
I believe you are correct, from what I remember about that it's because Orcas are very intelligent and get bored so one of the only things they can do for fun is chase seals and mess with them.
TheGoldenCaulk As a recall from my marine biology class in high school, Orcas will capture a seal and put it on a floating chunk of ice, then simultaneously charge forward to shake it off the platform. They do this for practice to catch other seals when they actually are hungry.
This show seems heavily biology based. Not entirely sure but it seems to be that is Sally's main expertise but I would love to see more physics, chemistry, and even space related science questions answered!
TheScinja I think this may just be the first couple of episodes to get the ball rolling. I theorize that they will bring more professionals on the show with varying fields of study as the show becomes more popular.
TheScinja in past podcasts she has mentioned that she's a biologist but there were some physics answers that she answered. it was one of Gavin's questions
i think they should have a different person each time. i dont like her style of explaining things, and i love science, so it would be nice to have it covered by other people with different expertises
I love this series so much! Evolutionary Biology is a weird little fascination of mine and it is great hearing Sally talk about it! Questions from the crazy mind of Rooster Teeth make it even better!
I'm an animal behaviour degree student specialising in felines (big, small and domestic), and it has been suggested that cat hunger and hunting instinct are two separate things. The theory is because of the low success rate of feline hunting, if the cat only hunted when it was hungry, it would not catch prey fast enough so hunting instinct is triggered despite of hunger levels. This is particularly relevant with cats that store their food, such as leopards in trees. However, success rate is increased with hunger levels, suggesting that the cat takes more risk and puts more energy into the hunt if it is hungry. But if a cat catches prey when it is not hungry, especially a domestic cat that has a regular food source, it may leave the prey after all :)
This is a pretty old theory so there has been a lot of times this has been suggested but I will put down a few of sources and can use the references from there to explore further: The influence of hunger on object play by adult domestic cats - Hall and Bradshaw, 1998 Animal Play: Evolutionary, Comparative and Ecological Perspectives (Book) - Bekoff and Byers, 1998 - Hall chpt 3, pg 52 in particular Cat behaviour. The predatory and social behaviour of domestic and wild cats (Book) - Leyhausen 1979 Hope this helps :D
They really should get a physicist along with Sally. Especially with the first time they had Sally, they had so many physics questions rather than biological/ecological questions.
Just to clarify - salinity is not measured in mols because it is measure of conductivity not the concentration of a solute. The rate of anthropogenic climate change, however, is a correct explaination of the difference between the modern and past - An oceanography student.
I really like the show! It'd probably be hard with everyones schedules at Rooster Teeth but they should try and incorporate more of a group discussion like on the podcast.
i clicked on this vid hoping for anything related to the best RTAA ever, the dolphin LSD episode. If you could spin that into anything on the show you would make my dreams come true
pretty certain they've talked about that with sally on a podcast, either 315 or 381, just search 'rooster teeth podcast sa' and it should autocomplete to sally le page, she's only been on twice so..
First Time I've managed to stick through the video. WAY TO DERAIL GUS! Maybe keep the puns till the close? Genuinely interesting and well-informed. Keep it up guys great choice in question tailoring; hopefully you did that on PORPOISE... ...SEE???
Next question: Is there any form of animals that wear clothing or any sign of animals that make there own clothes? ......love the series keep up the interesting topics!
i wonder when this will go full show like a 30-60 minute slot somewhere in the schedule where it releases and it gets more diverse like a podcastish discussion am i off by thinking like this?
Another stupid question: there are chimpanzees that can comunicate with humans via sign language. Would it be possible to "ask" them with they enjoy war, crushing their enemies, see their enemies driven before them and hearing the lamentation of their women like we do? Also, please keep this show going. This show is the reason I'll subscribe to the channel. :D
honestly the whole question of whether other animals do things "for fun" could equally be turned around on humans. "Fun" describes the sensation of that rush of endorphins, which rewards us for doing things that historically would have benefited our evolutionary fitness. Do humans hunt for sport, or do we hunt because our ancestors needed to kill things to eat them? Even the "fun" we get from hanging out with our friends is probably an evolved response rewarding pro-social behavior that might improve our odds of survival & reproduction
I have a great deal of respect for Sally and normally would not disagree (mainly because I am no scientist), but when I was still in school we were taught what separated humans from all other animals was our mastery of fire and the use of complex tools. Perhaps she is referring to a time prior to the 1970s.
I really like Sally Le Page and I love Gus. But something about their chemistry just doesn't really work. It was great when she was on the podcast because everyone else was there asking dumb questions and he was maintaining some order in the conversation. They should try adding people or having a rotating cast to find someone more compatible. Other than that I love the show!
is there an animal that hunts for sport? made me think of the witcher 3, and this particular line. "wild dogs be more dangerous then wolfs" "and why's that" "a wolf hunts to fill its belly, wild dogs hunt because they enjoy it"
Oh my god they fixed it, it feels so much more live and real. Like an actual conversation rather than a rehearsed awkward gimmicky mess, well done.
Please never stop making these! Sally is so awesome! and Gus is cool too...
Ralph Winn i like how its like... gus is alright yeah.. but like sally tho! So amazing omgggg
Ralph Winn
I see this kind of like Bill Nye for adults.
It explains science in a comprehensive way, that starts from a place of our understanding and curiosity.
Sally's eyebrows look so good that I missed the first question and had to rewind.
Chantal Sauve they look like eyebrows.
Anastasia Fox
They are ARE eyebrows
Lord7 Naruto are Are
soulis tripz What?!
soulis tripz
I meant what I said I didn't make any mistake
Gus's face when Sally's talking is me during meetings at work.
Dolphins killing porpoises? Oh the hu-manatee!
Mr.Blobby
I'm dying, so is Barbara
xD
Literally me BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Shes so cute honestly I love how shes both smart and charming
Another great episode, good job!
This might be my favorite Rooster Teeth show
Funbot 897 I don't dig RWBY's animation style and Camp Camp was just okay. Shows better than this are Ten Little Roosters and The Gauntlet (and maybe On the Spot). But as for RT shows airing right now, this is my fave.
well everyone has their taste Funbot :)
11:07 GOD DAMN IT BARB
Wolffang731 I heard the world groan today
I cringed so hard at that pun.
Wolffang731 BARB DAMN IT BARB
Wolffang731 WHY, BARB, WHYYYY
SO True
I hope this show keeps going , it's so informative and I love how funny Gus and sally are
"So you're saying it was done on porpoise?"
-Gus Sorola, 2016
Sally has the perfect temperament and enthusiasm to be a teacher.
Brandon Andrews She'd have so many teenage boys lusting after her.
Barbara would love this episode. Gus: "...it was done on porpoise?"
"They can just moooove" dat british accent man
I love her accent ❤
Johnny Sparks I now I agree but when she says evolution it sounds like evilution. I just have a little chuckle
Dam those puns; I didn't sea that coming at all.
Anyone else just skip to the end of the mvmt ad read because you've heard it a thousand times already?
I like how she was showing off the watch and it was blocked by the link on screen
Killer Whales have been known to hunt for sport. They are often found just throwing Sea Lions, penguins, and other ocean animals around for fun, and then just swimming away leaving the corpses floating in the water.
that full two seconds of dead air at 0:58 was 10/10
I love how Sally can't help but laugh, it's the greatest.
Sally is /such/ an awesome guest, I'm so glad you guys are doing this. It's great having someone with such an enjoyable personality and the knowledge to compliment it.
She is so bubly, and shiny, and happy, and smart... She is, literally, one in a million.
It makes me sad to think that intelligence is actually the root cause of these kinds of destructive behavior.
TheGoldenCaulk As a recall from my marine biology class in high school, Orcas will capture a seal and put it on a floating chunk of ice, then simultaneously charge forward to shake it off the platform. They do this for practice to catch other seals when they actually are hungry.
if it's hunting practice for the younger animals, would you still call it "sport"?
given that orcas are technically dolphins not actually whales, this doesn't surprise me. dolphins have always been sociopathic bastards
With the whole hunting thing, I'm wondering whether my cat hunting birds would be classified as sport since it doesn't eat it.
Damn I should have watched the whole episode
This show seems heavily biology based. Not entirely sure but it seems to be that is Sally's main expertise but I would love to see more physics, chemistry, and even space related science questions answered!
They are since she studied/studies biology, I think she mentioned she studied sex in fruit flies on the first podcast she was on.
Daniel Hunt this show and animation are 2 completely different departments.... lol
I like how her watch is obscured by the add.
I love this series so much! Evolutionary Biology is a weird little fascination of mine and it is great hearing Sally talk about it! Questions from the crazy mind of Rooster Teeth make it even better!
13:00 The ape look like he just finished a bag of spicy Cheetos.
Gus is no longer allowed to get upset with barb now
Oh the hu-manatee!
Oh the huge-manatee! (Giant manatee)
Oh the hugh-manatee! (Wolverine manatee)
Oh the hue-manatee! (colored manatee)
hugh mungus ?
I was just thinking of that Hu-manatee BA HA HA HA HA AHAHAA HAHABAHAHAHABHABH
damit you beat me by 13 hours...
Sally got a haircut! Looking good, girl! I'm loving this show guys, thanks for doing it!
Love this! Keep it coming!
these are awesome don't stop evaa
Oh my god, the mouse-with-a-suitcase graphic was adorable ♥ .
Love this series!! Stop trying to put weird sound effects in it. They're not needed
This is my first time watching let my clarify, but all I have to say is that Sally is ABSOLUTELY beautiful!
i know sally's time is valuable, but please make these longer.
smart people making puns is fcking funny.

Also suggest web of science, but also google scholar for a quick search :)
I don't know why but I hate when Barbra makes puns, but when Gus make puns, I find it funny.
This was really cool! I really hope they give it green light!
I really enjoy this show, quite fun and informative.
I love this show it makes my bio class think im super smart haha
You can see the sigh of relief from Gus when the episode ends.
They're both so awkward and I love it
This show makes me feel smarter than I actually am. love it
love these videos, full of fun facts i love impressing my friends with lol
I enjoy this it's nice to have on sundays
The fact that this is not the most watch video do to its fun yet educational values highly disappoints me. Especially with a teacher like Sally.
This is my new favourite RT show!
Cats also hunt for gifts for their owners sometimes. My cat brought us a bird that was still alive with a hurt wing. lol. He was so proud of himself.
They really should get a physicist along with Sally. Especially with the first time they had Sally, they had so many physics questions rather than biological/ecological questions.
I really enjoy this show. sally is awesome
She is making puns now! She is learning! :3
The Orca-strated a few too many puns.
i love these so much lol
Her accent is the only reason why I watch this
Just to clarify - salinity is not measured in mols because it is measure of conductivity not the concentration of a solute. The rate of anthropogenic climate change, however, is a correct explaination of the difference between the modern and past - An oceanography student.

I absolutely love this series!
Sally is absolutely amazing
I hope this show never ends
love it
i really love this show, it would be nice if you could answer more stupid questions, get Gavin for this it would be hilarious
This is amazing. I love these.
i clicked on this vid hoping for anything related to the best RTAA ever, the dolphin LSD episode. If you could spin that into anything on the show you would make my dreams come true
1993DJC podcast number?
pretty certain they've talked about that with sally on a podcast, either 315 or 381, just search 'rooster teeth podcast sa' and it should autocomplete to sally le page, she's only been on twice so..
love this series, its super cool!
shes adorable
I live for this series now
First Time I've managed to stick through the video. WAY TO DERAIL GUS! Maybe keep the puns till the close? Genuinely interesting and well-informed. Keep it up guys great choice in question tailoring; hopefully you did that on PORPOISE...
...SEE???
Great show, editing was very off this episode though :(
Pantsless Gamers they're on Webcam so there's going to be a delay when he asks a question.
... Which means they need to edit it better.
Next question: Is there any form of animals that wear clothing or any sign of animals that make there own clothes? ......love the series keep up the interesting topics!
hermit crabs wear shells which are the clothes to them, that's the first example I can think of
I love this series!
How about you clarify your RWBY schedule
They have a million times.
Go to roosterteeth.com.
On Saturday, for first members, 10am
On Sunday for free members, 10am
A week later on UA-cam for everyone else
But the 10 am refers to the time in Texas. If say you're on the east coast like me, it will be 11 am.
Regardless, they had times set up and people are complaining.
LAST WEEK THERE WASNT EVEN AN EPISODE
this is much better in podcast form, not 1 on 1. once a year, maybe twice is good enough.
As a fisherman, you learn early on that fish will go for something even if they aren't hungry. But then again, its purely instinct.
Manateasing me for these jokes
They should have a sort of increased podcast set so its Gus and Gavin asking questions to Sally and another scientist(maybe a physicist)
I really Like this show, please make it a thing!
aww the "humanatee!" lol
whys gus in front of a green screen
i wonder when this will go full show like a 30-60 minute slot somewhere in the schedule where it releases and it gets more diverse like a podcastish discussion am i off by thinking like this?
Ya definetly that's probably the best answer for my question but was wondering what other animals participate in the same form.
Such a good show!
I actually did the lesson on moles today in chemistry. What a coincidence
i love the dumb questions that gus come up with.
don't care about anything else, that lady is it....hands down you win...you go girl

are you serious, is RWBY every 2 weeks?!?! this is stupid man...my favorite series and can't even enjoy it every weekend...
Become a first member. Then you can at least get it early.
Mr. Rando I already did that before, can't anymore
James Baltzer Well. just have patience then. Everything that's good takes time.
Mr. Rando what was good used to take 1 week, but yea ig
also the animators moved to a new office
I really like Sally Le Page and I love Gus. But something about their chemistry just doesn't really work. It was great when she was on the podcast because everyone else was there asking dumb questions and he was maintaining some order in the conversation. They should try adding people or having a rotating cast to find someone more compatible. Other than that I love the show!
yep same
Looks like this is exactly what they did, with a Spot of Science.
0:57 that make me spit out my water
is there an animal that hunts for sport?
made me think of the witcher 3, and this particular line.
"wild dogs be more dangerous then wolfs"
"and why's that"
"a wolf hunts to fill its belly, wild dogs hunt because they enjoy it"
gus looks anxious and he blinks a lot
Did she say Dewgong? I must find this creature and catch it with my Pokeballs!
They forgot to tell Sally a banner was going up for the ad
There are 2 members we like but don't see often Colton and Sally.
GOD DAMNIT BARB... GUS!!!!
Evolution is just adaption to environments, so change is inevitable.
