- Angela Rayner faced deputy prime minister Oliver Dowden in the House of Commons for Prime Minister's Questions while PM Rishi Sunak visited Joe Biden in the US.

Rayner said a public accounts committee report this week says £21bn of taxpayers' money has been lost. Dowden in response said the government is trying to recover that money, and criticised the opposition by saying Britain 'cannot afford Labour'.

Does this include the £15bn on PPE that’s unfit for purpose and can’t be used? Or is this an additional amount. Genuine question.
I remember Labour calling for PPE to be sourced from anywhere, at any cost and as soon as possible...

It is not like they had no options and had to take a punt and see what they got. There were reputable companies willing to fulfil those orders, however they were ignored by the Tories. But oddly we instead paid *more* for stuff that didn't work to friends of the Tories companies (some of which were 1 week old).
Funny that. What isn't funny is people died. NHS staff had to treat patients wearing bin liners and a bunch of staff died.
Or how about all of the money pumped into non-descript "consultants" from companies that tories had large shares in.
Funny that.
Also Labour set up emergency PPE for pandemics exactly like this, seperate from NHS.. But Tories didn't keep it stocked up, despite warnings a pandemic was likely to occur months before it did.
@@Budanevey Yeah Labour said that the Tories should hand out contracts to their chums to buy the PPE on behalf of the government.

Why would Tories or government care about 21 billion going to waste. Its not as if they'll personally have to repay money
