This match was an early 11th birthday treat, half time and dad says "don't worry son we will have them in the second half! I've been old gold and black ever since and I never missed a home game again until the Euefa Cup Final as it was called then until the final against Tottenham what a roller-coaster ever since and I've a sneaking suspension that we will go one better in Germany and lift the cup this season "we am Wolves ay we".
Magical Molineux Memories - remember it well. One of the best performances by a Wolves side who would give anybody a game, and more, on their day. Indeed, Arsenal swept away by a 'blizzard' of a Wolves display. Molineux has always been a great venue, but when the snow came down on a cold Winter afternoon playing with an orange ball, there really was something ethearic, truly magical about the place. 🧡🖤🧡
This is the match that hooked me on WOLVES , i was in the North Bank for only the second time and snow was blowing into my face . RIP those player who have left us .
Proud to say I was there - on the North bank - Aged 18yrs. Fantastic afternoon. Never forgot Waggy's goal over the year's. Wonderful to see it again. Thank's for the memories. RIP
Once the colour extraction technique becomes more accessible this footage could look amazing, this is definitely colour film gagging to be brought to life
Late in the day but been enjoying the Wolves games you've posted. Great tribute to Waggy, and the interview with the Doog (and him happily carrying that nipper in his arms after scoring) was a treat.
@@lawrencesimmons5093 Aye. I recall Mullery being the man ahead of him for England selection. Bailey was robust without being dirty, a good captain and pretty skillful. Thinking back John Richards was my favourite, but Bailey and Waggy came close.
@@greatpoochini1 Yep, my sister's boyfriend at Uni was a massive Wolves fan, from Darlaston, proper Cowshed lad, cut him in half he'd be black and gold. It was at that exact time and we'd chat for ages about Peter Knowles, Alan Evans, the Doog, Waggy, Parkes, and what an exciting attacking team Bill McGarry put together. Remember Sammy Chung - who can forget? Great team really, deserved more. Great times. But tell you what, they're something special now and that Traore - wow.
I used to love watching Bobby Charlton's Football Scrapbook every Thursday on Sky Sports Gold. Even that programme is about 25 years old now! Where does the time go?
I too was at this terrific game as a 15 year old and remember as if it were yesterday and I recently managed to find a match programme from this very game on Ebay. That cold snowy day, the atmosphere, referee Roger "Mr Pickwick" Kirkpatrick, the quality goals, what a day and what a season this was with the UEFA cup run - thanks for posting extended highlights - will never get bored watching this again and again
Indeed. Molineux was always special, however on cold and snowy Winter game days, playing with the orange ball, it truly took on a magical and ethereal feel.
@@peterturley1331 Hi Peter - agreed, snowy pitches under the lights and the orange ball was great. You Tube has the 1970 boxing game v Everton at a snowy Molineux - such a shame its not in colour
I was in Bahrain, sat on the Forecastle onboard HMS Argonaut. Listening to the commentary from the BBC world service on my little transistor radio. Couldn't believe the score.
One of the best Wolves games I've ever been to. Even though I was freezing my nuts off in the Enclosure. Waggy showed all of his class that day - great goal, some tricky wing work and some superb long cross-field balls. Such a shame that Alf Ramsey didn't believe in wingers, he should have won a shed load of England Caps!
@@lawrencesimmons5093 Summerbee was capped a few times for England, Redknapp wasn't really England class (IMO), Armstrong, like Waggy was very unlucky. In any other age, they might have both got a game.
A year later, Nov 25 1972, at Derby another thrashing 5-0! I was there, tho not sure if Bob Wilson had retired, if so then Jimmy Rimmer took his place.

Was stood right at the top of the South Bank for that, watching it through the snow. Great night and nice to beat the Tarquins.

I was 18 years old and there with my brother, never missed a home game in those days.
Dave Wagstaffe what a left foot amazing player.

Almost a carbon copy of Waggys goal at White Hart Lane against Spurs, second leg of the UEFA cup final 1972.
I always made a point of watching Bobby Charlton's football scrapbook back in the day. Really good show, with great guests and of course Dickie Davis.
Dave Wagstaffe - fabulous player. Lovely left foot, RIP Waggy. Well played Wolves!

Absolutely. With the orange ball at a snow laden Molineux.

That Mike Bailey was a fine midfield player - could have fitted into any top side.

Indeed. Doog carrying the nipper brought tears to my eyes. He was a great player, showman and PFA chairman. 'Doog is King' 🧡🖤🧡

RIP, Waggy.
My first game - Waterloo Rd.
Rest in peace waggy what a legend
Indeed. A great traditional outside left whom sadly never got the international recognition his performances warranted and justified.
