I love these Kristi! They are so cute. Super interesting, so thank you for sharing this with us. Looking forward to seeing your refurbishment over time x
A really great channel I’ve been following is promethian sewing machines. She refurbishes and repairs antique sewing machines, including treadle machines!! While you don’t have space for a treadle setup, you could get some great tips and advice on refurbishing yours! Great!! Now I’m going down the rabbit hole for tiny machines, lol!!!
This was so interesting. I had no idea tiny sewing machines were a thing but I think I love them! I’d be interested to see an update when you’ve refurbished the Singer. Good luck with it!
Very cool. I'd love to stumble upon Singer 20 or 24. I have my Grandmother's Singer treadle machine and I really need to get a new belt and clean it and get it working. As I recall, my aunt and Gram used it into the 1950s or 60s when another aunt got an electric portable sewing machine. I have my mom's old cabinet machine which still works, a post-WWII White that I learned to sew on, and my husband recently refinished the cabinet (Mom fell prey to the unfortunate "antiquing" fad in the 1960s and painted the mahogany veneered cabinet tan with brush strokes in a topcoat of a dark shellac...shudder). I actually use my modern Baby Lock machine, but love having the older machines!
I enjoyed this SO much! I wish I still had the treadle base (it was made into a table) that my grandmother had. It was cool, even though there was no machine attached. :) xoxo C
You could try sewing on printer paper. My grandma used to let me do that with the treadle machine we used to have and I made all kinds of patterns. You need to use the little knob on the wheel to turn it.

I love treadle based tables! My friend has one that her grandmother made and she uses it as her desk. It's so pretty! And thank you for watching!
