This is awful! I am all for people to make sure all animals are being taken care of, but that should include the ones that are going in to check that this is being done. They should know all about the type of animals they are dealing with. This was so wrong and so sad for that tiger, the birds, and all the other animals! Someone needs to take that male bird back to her mate quickly, along with any other animals! We should be protecting animals, not making things worse for them. God created all things on this earth.

Yet my "exotic animal" hedgehog got sick and they said they don't treat exotic animals. They also wouldn't do my "exotic animal" rabbit...but they can provide expert care to a whole road side zoo? I *wont* take my kids there or support any roadside zoos. This isnt the first report of foul things going on there. The last time i went there i just felt sad for the animals there. In these videos there are alligators being house in entirely too small CHILDRENS pools and also videos of that same tiger she’s crying about being beaten and starved as a cub to make it easier for the cub to be handled for public entertainment.

I know too much about this place, every year nature bridge zoo ranks in the top 10 worst zoos in America.. I witnessed asha the elephant being abused back in 1999 and I left in tears. Sadly she’s still there and the ongoing evidence stacking up on the abuse is heartbreaking.. there’s a video on UA-cam taken at the zoo that’s very hard to watch of the abuse going on to many animals :(
I just watched the video of her hitting the animals and the nasty mess they were in. She should be ashamed of all of it. The owners should have had surveillance cameras throughout the compound to watch carefully anyone present tending or caring for the animals being exotic as some probably were. And if any abuse was taking place, then the authorities could be involved. If there was a license vetenarian involved, then her documentation should be under review in accordance with the conditions of the animals

All of yall supporting this crap are crazy. I’m local to the area and these animals have been abused for years. Regardless of anything, these animals are better in the care of someone else than they are the natural bridge zoo. If you do the research, this place has had abuse issues for YEARS.
There are so many reports of this zoo not taking care of the animals. I'm glad they finally took control so these animals don't suffer anymore.

@@marthageoffrey237there are videos on UA-cam that show clear evidence of extreme animal abuse at the Natural Bridge Zoo, some that date back as far as 2015. In these videos there are alligators being house in entirely too small CHILDRENS pools and also videos of that same tiger she’s crying about being beaten and starved as a cub to make it easier for the cub to be handled for public entertainment.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. I'm crying my eyes out. God bless all the animals and people who have been with them for a long time. 😢😢😢😢 Those people sound heartless.
it's easy to see how much Gretchen loves the animals. there are no winners in this sad story. I'm totally against the deck being stacked in favor of the uneducated "authorities"that claim thye know what's best for the animals. My heart goes out to Gretchen & the others that have committed their lives to caring for the animals.
I agree. I am feeling Gretchen is telling the truth and I want to believe she cares very much for the animals. There are the vets that may have been ones who needed to be replaced if they put the animals on the line.
I never been there being new to living in Va but after watching your video im so sorry this happened to you. It actually sounds like Peta and the people who come in dont know anything about animals they are volunteers. I hope things can get back to as normal as it possibly can be after this horrible ordeal you guys went through.

I know too much about this place, every year nature bridge zoo ranks in the top 10 worst zoos in America.. I witnessed asha the elephant being abused back in 1999 and I left in tears. Sadly she’s still there and the ongoing evidence stacking up on the abuse is heartbreaking.. there’s a video on UA-cam taken at the zoo that’s very hard to watch of the abuse going on to many animals :(

I just watched the video of her hitting the animals and the nasty mess they were in. She should be ashamed of all of it. If you don't have enough staff to give the animals the care they need give them to someone who can. I seen all I need to.. It's to heartbreaking to watch anymore of it. She and the other handlers need to be accountable for all of it.

Zoos of ANY kind are not cool! Nobody is doing these poor creatures any favors by enclosing them in concrete cages. She is no victim!
So if the animals are not in zoos, where are they supposed to go? They have no habitats anymore because stupid humans have taken it all. If it weren't for zoos and independent breeders, many of the animals we still have around would already be extinct. You people bellyache about animals being locked up or in zoos but they have no where to go and if they come in a place that is populated by people, the animals get put down, but they were there first. I've known Karl and his animals for decades. Noone has more love and knowledge for their animals than this family. This is tragic, and wrong on so many levels.

Zoo animals now days are all born in captivity.. unless it had some injury that prevented it from surviving in the wild.you are just looking from the outside. I was a keeper for 45 years..I know.

My heart is breaking for this family, I managed the gift shop there and babysat the Mogensen kids when they were little, my son grew up with these kids and Asha. This family loves their animals and I have never seen anything but kindness, love and caring from them for their animals ❤

There actually was footage out a few years ago of animals being mistreated live. This is not the first thing to go wrong here. Leaving out all the past bad in this interview. I feel awful for the animals who suffered and were traumatized, but it was at humans hands- before investigation and during. Thank you whistle blower. Lets get this place gone for good.
@saralyons4418 There is no excuse for staff not being allowed to be present and filming any and all events that took place on the property. The owners should have had surveillance cameras throughout the compound to watch carefully anyone present tending or caring for the animals being exotic as some probably were. And if any abuse was taking place, then the authorities could be involved. If there was a license vetenarian involved, then her documentation should be under review in accordance with the conditions of the animals
