"Rawhide" is a Western song written by Ned Washington (lyrics) and composed by Dimitri Tiomkin in 1958. It was originally recorded by Frankie Laine. The song was used as the theme to Rawhide, a western television series that ran on CBS from 1959 to 1966.
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral is a 1957 American Western film starring Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp and Kirk Douglas as Doc Holliday, loosely based on the actual event which took place on October 26, 1881. The theme tune was again composed by Dimitri Tiomkin
Dimitri Zinovievich Tiomkin was a Russian-born American film composer and conductor. Classically trained in St. Petersburg, Russia, he moved to Berlin and then New York City after the Russian Revolution. In 1929, after the stock market crash, he moved to Hollywood, where he became best known for his scores for Western films.
When researching the origins of these tunes I remembered that I had previously uploaded another Tiomkin theme “The High and The Mighty” back in 2016. • The High And The Might...

What a great memory jogger Neville. Memories of a young Clint Eastwood and Ward Bond in 'Rawhide' come into my mind. Good old monochrome grainy TV stuff which we all enjoyed then. Hi Neville, indeed a very entertaining combination of songs, kind of "Tiomkin Theme". So well played - as usual - and the Burns sounds lovely here. Excellent post! What I miss? Nothing really...except...maybe - you swinging the whip, roaring "RAAAAWHIIIIDE!" now and then. Or maybe not...

Hi John, thank you as always for your unique observations. I can assure you that you do not want to hear me sing or even roar, my only key is Db demented!. I didn't appreciate that Tiomkin had composed these tunes until yesterday but I did recall his name from The High and the Mighty which I think is a very under-rated recording by The Shadows. I had the pleasure of watching Rod Clements from Lindisfarne and Rab Noakes perform a great acoustic set on Friday night, both 72 years young but with a lifetime of skill. Best wishes, Neville

It's a medley of my favorite western theme. The sound of the Burns match well.
