Man, I’m honestly sick of these tourists who come here to Tyrol and enter freeride terrain without ANY knowledge nor avalanche gear on them….. so many deaths could have honestly been avoided…. So sad to watch this
Often tourists tend to have the idea that the alps are generally safer than other "less populated" mountain ranges, but even if that's not true we should be the ones educating on these things. Tourism in the austrian/italian alps is there to stay, its up to us to property manage these flocks of dummies and show them what to do and what not to. :)
I don't understand they they all tried to outrun the avalanche by staying in the gully; all they needed to do was to go onto the ridge on the righthand side.
i could tell by the first 3 turns these guys shouldnt be there not alone without any avalanche gear if any of them got burried they wouldve never found him
This is Mattun bowl in St. Anton. It's very simple to go there without warring too much since it is easily connected to main ski area and has marked ski route. But this is not first time avalanche went in this area. With so much fresh snow these ski routes probably were closed. And you are not supposed to be there. I actually did the same route same year, but month later. There were less avalanche risk. But I did the same mistake first time. You drop into this narrow channel way too soon. You should keep more right and follow now ski route 40 to avoid top of this channel. But frankly If I was there at the same time as you, month earlier, I would probably do the same. Now if I want to just step off piste without all the proper safety gear, at least, I check avalanche level, stick to ski route or really close to piste and check if ski route is actually open. Anything further and I would hire guide and get proper safety gear. Thank you for your video, it is good reminder for off piste newbies like me to always remember about danger of avalanche.
Indeed it is mattun, and looking at how many tracks i'd say it was probably open, where the avalanche came down is a well known slide gully from just to the left of kapall lift half way up. Yes sometimes better to keep slightly right nearer the ski route markers. I wonder if they met anyone else popping out at the bottom there, normally that one is triggered by somebody.
Wow no1 here wants to appreciate that it was an Action Camera and it stayed focused on the Action like a true camera man. In portrait mode to boot and people just want to be haters.
No kit, no awareness, terrain trap, all skiing above each other, all together, and aspects and so on ... Quite possibly a video showing absolutely everything you can possibly do wrong..
I've only snowboarded in North America and Austria and have to say I was very surprised about how lax safety and warnings are in Austria. These guys probably saw some tracks, thought it was safe and decided to give it a go. Not realising how dangerous it was with their knowledge and ability. Obviously if you're not sure you should stay on piste and these guys were stupid but the temptation can be a lot. Ropes, warnings and removing peoples passes who go into areas like this without gear is a great deterrent. It's not only your own safety at risk.
Hey Ronen Cohen, do you have an email address at which we could contact you regarding this video? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible? (i.e. via email) 🙂 Cheers, Felix
Location Austria doesn't mean that the people from the vid are Austrians. They don't speak german or any austrian dialect, you intelligence beast! OMG. In order to your arrogance and stupidity i also have a guess where you're from but i don't want to insult a whole country just because of one ...🤦♂️
Might be a good idea to trade in the selfie stick for a pack with some essential gear? Lady luck was definitely smiling for these guys 😊
That was a rookie mistake, should have had two Go Pros and two selfie sticks.
@@recklessmeanie😂😂
I cringe at these guys
@@mountainrescue777 hopefully now they will get some snow knowledge and proper avy gear before they head into terrain like that again
Such a luck... No idea of riding off piste, no equipment... A miracle

That’s the type of terrain where ABS bags are a must have or beacons if you can even save them in time. Glad you all got out ok
No such thing as bag OR beacon. It is always beacon.
I don't understand they they all tried to outrun the avalanche by staying in the gully; all they needed to do was to go onto the ridge on the righthand side.
they were not skilled enough
i could tell by the first 3 turns these guys shouldnt be there not alone without any avalanche gear if any of them got burried they wouldve never found him
Knuckle draggers....

Looking at how tracked out the area was I am surprised it dodn't slide earlier.

I don't would rather focus on the horrible music choice for amateur hour in the high country
You didnt even have backpacks with dig/search equipment? Are you kidding me??
Great decision to sit in from of incoming avalanche..... Why?
No kit, no awareness, terrain trap, all skiing above each other, all together, and aspects and so on ... Quite possibly a video showing absolutely everything you can possibly do wrong..
You guys were all riding on one big terrain trap, ride smarter next time and stay safe 🙏🏻
Yeah, I got anxious seeing them in that channel there, I love surfing avalanches, this I would not like hahahah
whatever you do DON*T DROP YER FRIGGIN* SELFIE STIK!!!!!

this is the type of thing that gives snowboarders a bad look.
Oh please, countless skiers are just as clueless when it comes to safety 🤦🏻♂️
@@jcoxdj you're definitely right about it
Knuckle draggers are the worst
I'm goin' be a camera hero!
It sucks being on snowboard when the avalanche is coming behind and you need to accelerate fast
You guys are looking it and your side slipping everywhere that’s why avalanches start point the tip down the hill and go like a bat out of hell
Pretty bad place to stop tbh, it’s a huge terrain trap. Also not having packs in what I’m assuming is a slack area is pretty stupid
Karma for riding with a selfie stick
You should have been quarantined years ago.

Europe works more on the "be dumb at your own risk" principle
Jerrys everywhere
video footage trumps life apparently.
Nice snowboard skills lucky dudes i can imagine they dont even had avalanche equipement
No avy beacons out?

pros ready for every situation hehe
No equipment, no knowledge, no communication.. they cannot even ride the powder! what are they doing there?
Prometheus school of running away from things.
Obnubilé par l'image ! On voit moins le danger !
You need to find some more dramatic music
If you see an avalanche coming, stop thinking about your selfie on your stupid camera and concentrate on getting the f out of the way.
It’s an action cam, it’s supposed to stay focused on the action. Can no1 appreciate that here? In portrait mode to boot.
I was caught in the avalanche. have video of it
That one i have it on gopro
why this music.
יש לכם מזל גדול! שמרו על עצמכם!
If you stay high and traverse out of the channel it can't get you.
שמרו על עצמכם!!!
do not like the music background!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No equipment....
Hahaha if you didn't film the video probably doesn't felt
Dangerous
Полные штаны шоколада🤣😂🤣
Avalanche at 1:28
amateur hour? skill level is novice
you never drop all at once in case of an avalanche. if you do there’s nobody to save your ass if it happens…poor decisions made in this video forsure
F-ing selfie stick..
sorry, I don't see any talented riding.....bunch of sideslipping. Intermediate riders with expensive gear.
the music pisses me off sm
