This is easily one of the best hip hop tracks ever. The production is out of this world...shout out to Large Proffessor. The lyricism is hard hitting and paints a picture so vivid its like I'm watching a music video. Still listen to this daily. That makes it 328 days today. I know, I was late to recognize. Nas, New York East Coast...thats that real shit! Shout Out from South Africa!
Everyday im still listening to this song..
Nas is so and still talented, i really love this man, he is my idol

Hearing this on Bob and Stretch for the first time at probably 2am was mind blowing. This is my favorite hip hop song of all time.
Nas Will Prevail, Life is Like a Dice Game and Purple from the Lost Tapes are some of my favorite tracks. These beats are great to drive over the Queensboro bridge at night.
I feel you, especially this beat is (for me) made for night time. In a big town like New York with tons of energies - just sitting in your windowframe and looking over the city.
de ja vu is also next level!
Gotta Love It and Deja Vu too 🔥
Stay chiseled (original version) as well
Lyrically, it doesn't get fuller than this. Just, incredible
This belongs in a museum
I was born in 88 ..and my memory started working around 92 ..that beat reminds me of those times and a 80s vibe.
That’s because it was the Michael Jackson Human nature sample.
@@ElohimPenemue i know that..I mean mix of that and the trumpet. Early 90s everything used alot of jazz.
I was born in 89 so yeah those times were great.
@@jordanfan88 i agree but Jordan Love owns the Bears
I love these old demos :) so nostalgic!
*nastalgic
@@jaycee9153 I know I'm late but no way you tried correcting a correct spelling and make it wrong. Idiot do you want me to eat you up like a pickle you silly chicken.
Nas mentions Roberto Duran, side note my cousin fought him for the belt, but lost. Duran was a great fighter. brought back that memory!
This is so raw...aged like wine. Damn I wish I grew up on some hip hop I was into jazz soul and 80s house....but living in the hood, it would've been crazy to have gotten into hip hop early on instead of later in my teens...and that was 2002-2003 SMH
Unless you in NY...you wouldn't of heard this.. illmatic tracks has a similar vibe to this beat.
Dam yo I was born in 2002 and I wish i was in that era. I got a old soul. Peace!

Shit bring tears to my eyes. Beautiful. 90s

Nutty McBuster
*harmin' Nas.
*play on words for harmonized.
It ain’t that deep homie
You do know Autotune is a derivative of the Talk Box that Roger Troutman used back in the 80’s right?

What’s the original?
@@michaelvelotta4896 This is the original version of 'It Ain't Hard To Tell' - it was on Nas's demo tapes from 91 and 92.

This song gives me goosebumps and send chills down my spine. They dont make music like they used too!!
A master piece. A Timeless track in this universe
This song feels like a good dream
The nasty nas demo tape is by far the best thing ever happen to the east coast so ahead of its time
Nas mentions Roberto Duran. My cousin fought him for the belt. My cousin lost, but fought a good fight.
Funny how this sounds 80’s and the album version is absolute 90’s. Love em both!
*This beat sounds hypnotic! I feel like im memorized by it*
Bless your soul for uploading this demo tape. Ive never heard some of these songs and My fucking brain is melting from how smooth these tracks are
nas is the greatest to ever do it. also good looks on including the samples in the intro. 😎
thanks for making a HQ version of this song, this is one of my favorite songs of all time. reminds me of my freshmen year in high school. haha.
Masterpiece of nature.
Well salute Michael because it ain’t hard to tell is one of the greatest songs! Nas the goat 🐐
[Verse 1]
It ain't hard to tell, I excel and prevail
The mic comes in contact with the third rail
My raps react, they attack the whack just like a maniac
With this, see I'm a brainiac
I'll call you tattoo, you never come off
I flip the script with a sawed-off, boss
A modern Shakespeare-reincarnated
Brains are elevated, I'm bein' R rated
This style is terror, drastic
Meltin' the plastic, and I eat mics just like acid
Burn your pen and pads, mics you'll need not
'Cause I be packin' like a Rasta in a weed spot
Hittin' your heart with a hollow-tip verbally illin'
Minds manipulated, my raps are nickel-plated
I execute raps like I'm swingin' an axe around
This is a mic shut down
Notify the President-that I'm bombin' your residence
And I'm leavin' no evidence
Voice box yells, lyrics'll excel
Rappers gettin' smoked, you can smell the hot shells
Your style is fake, snake, well dramatized
You might as well be a singer but ain't harmin' Nas
Here's the break, I can translate lyrics so well
I excel, it ain't hard to tell
[Hook]
It ain't hard to tell
[Verse 2]
I got a case of vocal fever, I'm here to make you a believer
Nas wrecks the tweeters and receivers
Lyrics will explode, my brain overloads
Gimme a Grammy, competition is dead just like Sammy
I leave minds magnetized like slaves
Your style is old fashion like waves
Holdin' a pistol at a pastor, pullin' the trigger faster
Tell 'em I was sent by his Master
But that topic's too deep for your ear
Here's the science you can comprehend clear
Advanced intellectual, a time bomb speeder
I'll know your whole card just like a palm reader
Non-stop, I'm bustin' heads like the FEDs baby pops
This is not the Kindergarten Cop
Put on your blindfold, I'ma release and stand tall
I detonate bombs at the Policeman's Ball
This is art from the heart, I leave 'em marked for death
In each breath, in this game, I'm the ref
Already I'm ill but I can only get better
With lyrics as pretty as a nickel-plated Beretta
I master dialects, of uncommon languages
A black man caught by the Klan couldn't hang with this
These are proverbs, copy cat attackers, huh
I'm wanted dead 'cause I'ma genocide to rappers
Battlin' Nas is dead when my brain reacts
You might as well have fell asleep on a train track
This ain't the same track that you're used to
This is rhythmatic, automatic, try it, you oughta have it
Slaughter your tape recorder; givin' thanks to my supporters
And keep flowin' like water
No matter the obstacle, Nasty Nas will prevail
Ayo, it ain't hard to tell
[Hook]
It ain't hard to tell
[Verse 3]
Check it
I catch wreck with my intellect, suckers are incorrect
I'm gonna win 'cause you slept
On Nas, word is bond, I leave the microphone torn
False rappers, you need to write your own song
Metaphors are murder, man, hittin' like Roberto Duran
Hold the mic in my hand, my life span
Imitators will sweat me like gym class
Your raps are fat, shit, then I'll be Slim Fast
New rap recruits I salute then delete 'em
Verbally eat 'em, because my ears don't need 'em
Nas is a terrorist, analyst
Swingin' my fists like a nigga breakin', possessed by Satan
You couldn't compete with a beat that was fast or slow
Brothers is gettin' shipped out like I was Castro
I can eat your flavor but I'm not a candy lover
I use a Lethal Weapon, just like Danny Glover
Execute monologues, sabotage entourage
Mutilate mics like a maniac at large
I talk with slang, and use my brain
Generate pain, penetrate your vein
Move like a maniac, Nas is nice, son
Talk to your conscience and hit like Tyson
No competition, 'cause I cause wonders
Nas will battle rappers by the football numbers
A motor mouth killer, rhyme writin' thriller
Hold a Mac-11, and attack a reverend
Don't sleep 'cause you might not wake
I speak deep, dialects I translate
Me and friends commit sins on the regular
Murder my competitors, and et cetera
Nas is a gypsy Egyptian
Flippin' the script and microphone manufacturers are victims
My voice makes your ear drums swell
It ain't hard to tell
one of my favorite tracks. incredible. never gets old to me. same goes with big L tracks, kool g rap, big daddy kane...today's so called hip hop is damaged, at least mainstream...some still hold it down but the excellent mic skills, originality, some of that hard mentality, sound and heart that was once poured in to all the emcee's work is lost with the way the business is now a days. everyone wants to be celebrity and its killing the game.
Fkn sick shit man. Sorry for the language. Fkn killed this in the 90s. Still today. A poet man.
Nas forever, The GOAT
Remember listening to this while playing GT4 Nas this is why Nas is Top 3 of Alltime
Out all night writing graff in the 90’s. Take me home. I just wanna leap home.
1 year ago I posted to this song. A year later still rockin this old ass wicked beat. Nas will prevail. Shit homie, I will prevail :)

This is real hip-hop. Fuck that 2Chainz, or Lil Wayne or whatever.
@johndoe7033 I actually didn't clean this track up. I found it. The only thing I did was remove the one DJ tag that was present. Sorry mate
I wish this was on ITunes!
This is my favorite version of this song I think he should have went with this one.
Best hip hop song ever?
Good! Hope you enjoy it =)
I think the highest acclaim this song could be given was from Stretch and Bobbito. This was the first song they played, of all the joints they had at their disposal, for this one to be chosen, you know it's that special.
Nah, Son. First joint they played was Ultramagnetics - way before this joint was cut.
"I call you tattoo - you never come off....." Damn money!!!!
U might as well be a singer but aint harmin Nas (harmonize) =O
so so fucking hard
@twinklepayne This isn't a remix. This is the original version of It Ain't Hard To Tell (the lyrics are completely different). It was on Nas's Demo. Large Professor produced it and the label asked them to do it again, so Large Pro flipped the sample (this too uses Human Nature by Michael Jackson) and thus It Ain't Hard To Tell was born
exkimo64 What's the other sample? The background contains a looming sound that rises and lowers.
lifestraight The only sample that's used in both songs is from Human nature, the first bar is what you hear in both songs, but in nas will prevail there are filters so it sounds very different. it aint hard to tell also uses MJ's vocals. hope that explains it
Large pro said it sounded too much like human nature so he changed it a bit
@Willam Johnson Who you? Give us the inside scoop 7...Large Pro just released another Nas demo from 92 Number Man. Ill! Only 1 verse.
Not sure how Russell didn't sign Nas after hearing this.
Russ was right. Nas didn't sell. He was underground. He lookin to sell records. His A&R signed him anyway...
Faith Newman. Plus his artist Serch brokered his deal.
@@frankwhite7109 First record went Gold and his second and third album went multi platinum.
@@frankwhite7109 little did he know Nas would go on to be in top 5 biggest rap stars in like 96
He said he sounded like Kool G Rap and passed on him. Elektra also passed. Insane!
@@grinchoi1 It's true, you could say this sounds a bit like G-Rap would sound on the lighter parts of 4,5,6... like Fast Life, Ghetto Knows...but small differences make it stand out gloriously. Nas's slightly lighter more agile tone, the Human Nature sample, clearer diction and flow with less 32nds/triplets, the references... magic
☄️💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍
When I hear this song I think "New York City". When I think about New York City I play this tune in my head.
Hip Hop best!
@ALVmazer Nope that's Life's A Bitch. The horns are sampled for this song and it says in the video where they came from and at what point in the sample they appear. So check it out.

Cleaner than my copy forsure. My analog version is much grittier and grimey
Sitting in traffic. I will prevail. 😁
Excellent clean up on the track!!! I was wondering if you could do me a favor. If you youtube "The Roots feat. Jill Scott - You got me (NPA live, 19.04.1999)" and click on it, you will hear that the audio of the video is TERRIBLE! I was hoping you could extract all that is wrong within it and the post it up on youtube, and with the to a dwnld to, if you could. You know, make it sound HQ like you did with this track. Please and thank you. Also, Madd Props on this clean track v.
the song is a killa, to bad there is no better quality :(
Wonder why Large Pro dropped the horns in 94? Ill riff sound like Pete Rock sound from 92...
This is the early old school style. The album version changed the rap game.
