Thank you to the writers for acknowledging the tragedy that is tridge 🤮. They weee like business partners. Ironic cause they didn’t even work together. They didn’t have a very passionate relationship. In comparison they had to brining back the og. I’m amazed that Caroline and Taylor who both had less airtime and good storylines (this one is the worst, for Taylor. She looks out of place and it hate her acting, no tears.) at least kkl can do the one year on que. anyways the folks that supported those two other layers are ultimately just Brooke haters. So thanks for really crafting her character the best. (Her storylines are outrageous and literally carry this show singlehanded at times).
(1:52)Brooke: _Why don't you lock the door?_ Ridge: _I lock the door._ The transcript instead switches to interpretation: (1:52) *She* locked the door, unlocked the door.
*Why the Prince Omar storyline is so disappointing this time around* I remember watching this storyline when it first aired, and at the time I loved it and couldn't wait for the next episode. This time, I find it uninteresting and almost impossible to watch. And I think I'm starting to figure out why. It's because this storyline is _all plot and no character._ In order to enjoy watching a storyline when the outcome is unknown, it's easy to stay invested simply because you want to know how it ends. The scenes on the yacht are suspenseful because you wonder what Mustafa is going to do to Brooke and Ridge, and if they are in danger. Seeing Taylor with Omar you wonder if and how she will escape, or if he will let her go. But on second viewing, all that suspense is _gone._ In order to still work, the storyline needs more substance. If the outcome of the plot is already revealed, there must be _something else_ there to hold our attention. This "something else" can be summed up in one word: characterization. The writing, the acting, the direction - all of these have to make us _connect emotionally_ with the characters and experience what they are going through, or there is nothing left to care about once we know how the storyline ends. It's the psychological aspect that is, or should be, _more_ interesting than whether or not Mustafa will throw Ridge and Brooke overboard. And that is what is missing from this storyline. The emotional beats are missing or unconvincing. I don't _feel_ the characters. I know what is going to happen to them, but I don't care enough about them to want to watch them get there a second time. Now, the comments section is a different matter. I can honestly say I come here more for the comments than for the actual episodes. 😊♥️ (By the way, a striking contrast to this plot-driven storytelling - and the best proof of the importance of characterization - was the other episode, when Sally walked into the Insomnia, ordered espresso, and somehow that was the most interesting thing going on that day.)
I watched that too when I was young and you're right. The script and the direction delude more then the actors since they're basically the same. SF in Jessica storyline couldn't do miracles as DC. The show as many love it, ended in 1993. Thanks for your analysis❤

@@babs4848 exactly - I think the problem is that both Ridge, Taylor and Brooke are very shallow characters as they are being written _at this particular point_ in their history. Ridge has always been mainly a prize to be fought over, but that is never more clear than now when he seems to be perfectly content with Brooke, while still reminiscing about being perfectly content with Taylor. He has no clear preference or emotional driving force. Brooke was a more complex character as long as she _didn't_ have everything she wanted. She is a character whose driving force is her _desire for something she doesn't have._ That is why she is in her element when she is "the other woman", but oddly out of place as "the happily married wife". If all Brooke's dreams come true, there is no conflict or struggle, and her character loses the power to drive a plot. Taylor was always a more passive "Good Girl/Princess" type character, but making her an _actual_ "damsel in distress", a princess held captive by an obsessed prince, only underlines and magnifies this lack of agency to the point of depriving her of her subjectivity. Her cries of "let me go, I want to be reunited with my husband!" ring hollow because at this point _that is all there is to her character._ We don't see Taylor _the psychiatrist_ reacting to her captivity, for example. Taylor the independent career woman and accomplished doctor is reduced to a typical fairy tale maiden, unable to rescue herself but instead having to rely on the mercy of her captor or the resourcefulness of an outside rescuer. (Imagine, for a moment, that Omar had instead captured Stephanie or Sally!)

Seeing as how her parents didn't bother to call Steph or Eric b4 shipping their child out to Cali, and it seems they haven't called since they signed away their parental rights, I can't see why the onus should be on either Steph or Eric to call them. They seem like very delinquent parents to me.

*Why the Prince Omar storyline is so disappointing this time around*
I remember watching this storyline when it first aired, and at the time I loved it and couldn't wait for the next episode. This time, I find it uninteresting and almost impossible to watch. And I think I'm starting to figure out why.
It's because this storyline is _all plot and no character._
In order to enjoy watching a storyline when the outcome is unknown, it's easy to stay invested simply because you want to know how it ends.
(By the way, a striking contrast to this plot-driven storytelling - and the best proof of the importance of characterization - was the other episode, when Sally walked into the Insomnia, ordered espresso, and somehow that was the most interesting thing going on that day.)
Fantastic analysis Annie! 👏 We've been bereft of this kind of breakdown since you and Nick were missing (he still is).
I watched that too when I was young and you're right. The script and the direction delude more then the actors since they're basically the same. SF in Jessica storyline couldn't do miracles as DC. The show as many love it, ended in 1993. Thanks for your analysis❤
@@awardego thank you Award Ego! 😊I was away for a few days visiting family. I noticed Nick's absence too and I hope all is well with him and that he will be back!
(Imagine, for a moment, that Omar had instead captured Stephanie or Sally!)
hello Annie! if you've seen it, can you tell me what are the orders prince omar gave mustafa? what will he do to brooke and ridge?
How can Omar can sleep the nights , it seems okay to keep in hostage a woman who doesn’t like him at all … he force her … and it’s okay to him , he’s so dérange it’s hard to watch lol
I don't like Taylor's character but Omar is wrong for this! Omar is twisted!
I agree with you on all of that!
It is just a sick part of the SL, I mean they could of written Taylor to fall in love with Omar and then her memory slowly returning ( in flashbacks ) and then she could of realized what she did to Ridge, came back to LA, etc. THE WRITERS SHOULD OF DONE IT DIFFERENTLY NOT THIS WAY! @@staceygash9421

Hello for the Gospel truth , from RubyWilson
Eric and Stephanie are just plain ridiculous! Do they really think this is going to teach Jessica a lesson? To press charges against the man she loves…her first love which is a very powerful love, and then possibly drag this into court will only serve to traumatize her. Dylan is not some lowlife. He is responsible and truly cares deeply for Jessica. They have not slept together since that initial first encounter. Why aren’t Jessica’s parents consulted? Yes, they are going through a divorce, but that doesn’t mean you lose contact with your daughter!!!!
