You are one of my favorite reviewers. Video / production quality and audio is good and so is the content. I've worked in broadcasting & video production most of my life, so some reviews are kind of painful for me to watch :). Great work, keep it up.
Thank you for such a kind comment. I do the best I can and I'm not an AV production person. So I appreciate recognition of the effort that goes into this. Thank you.
At full throttle on 4S this thing is a rocket. I can hold it pointed straight up, give it throttle, and just let it go. No tossing whatsoever. It will climb with almost unlimited vertical. I find it to be very good at aerobatics for a glider. I painted mine a bright day glow orange because it does get lost against a cloudy sky. I’m really enjoying flying this plane.
Lots of people like flying this little plane fast.
@@RCVideoReviews Fun to fly it slow as well. Enjoyed your review.
Sports glider.
That is why I ordered the Night Radian.
Not for the fancy LEDs, but for the glide and soaring.
I'm afraid that if I got this bird I would fly it like a regular plane instead of a glider.
I might buy this one day, but my heart is for gliding.
In 2 days my plane should get her and I can't wait for it haha.
Amazing how good it turns, only using a rudder.
But I have read about some poor design choices. The wing tip is only secured with 4 pieces of tape so I'm going to add a thin line of CA glue and the servos sucks, so I'm buying some metal servos. It's only 3 so the price won't go too far up.
I just ordered one for my first RC plane/glider. Should be here in a couple days I can't wait
Good choice. This is a nice little plane.
I really like how this plane flies. It also handles wind well. The only issue I've had was that the tail skid eventually broke but it still lands fine.
yes i have the bnf has E-Flite 30-Amp 4S Telemetry ESC, and can use any lipo to get Telemetry works with nx6 :-) have set up with voice to get Telemetry of lipo volts:
Nice!
While flying Arrow's SZD glider today a friend was flying this plane. Impressive so much sport capability but still glides well. Its on my radar of planes to get down the road.
When I dropped the hammer on this one I was surprised how well it performed. I like this plane. Simple and effective.
Nice maiden. You need to come to my field and fly with a lot of wind. Keeps you in focus. Nice job John.
That would be cool
Great review John, sweet little plane, nice that it can fly slow and docile but you can crank it up and have some fun too!
Yeah, I'm getting lots of that "fly fast" stuff. I'll thrash it next time ;)
Very smooth flying plane John. Looked awesome in the sky!
This would be a good next plane for you.
It's a blast on 4S-full throttle and then swoop in for a high speed, low altitude pass. I can get mine to float around for 20+ minutes, but it's best when you let'r rip.
Lots of comments endorsing full throttle runs ;)
Nice flights! Would love to see you get into EDF and warbirds flying.
You should look at my video list. I've done plenty of warbirds and a handful of jets ;)
Our club needs the Runway replaced badly. I’m kinda jealous of your new runway. Not sure about that center Stripe though, 😂
That’s the new centerline for warbird takeoffs.
Nice flights and good review. Love mine.. It's probably more aerobatic than you think with even higher rates than in the manual..
The ESC is borderline for hard 4S flying and you might want to strengthen the rear of the battery hatch as its a known weak area. The plastic spinner is also not really strong enough to handle serious 4S ragging and has been known to disintegrate catastrophicly.. which can then also rip the nose off if it has not been beefed up.
I epoxied some thin carbon strips joining each of the spinners internal fillets and also some strips into the foam at the rear of the battery hatch, upgraded to a 40A esc and all these things have given me a lot more peace of mind.
See the CE thread on RCgroups for more details on these recommended mods.
Thanks for the tips Paul. Scary that the spinner explodes and tears up the front end.
@@RCVideoReviews No problem at all. Tbh it's probably just happening when treated like a hotliner by a tiny select few, huge WOT dives etc.. but better safe than sorry and for peace of mind.
The front end has been known to break off at the rear of the battery hatch even just on harder landings though and it's when you see these pics you will see how little foam there is in that area holding the whole front end on, so I'd definately do something about that.
Hope it grows on you as much as it has me. ATB.
john's flying a glider had to see this i love my calipso
Nice Calm flight... Did the guy making the center line have a few beers ?? LOL
Right? I've thought about this a bit since I left the field and have determined what they were doing there is painting the centerline to match the warbird/taildragger takeoff run rather than having the warbird/taildraggers conform to a straight line. That way, they can say "I was just staying on centerline!"
@@RCVideoReviews Ha..Ha
I thought it was just undulations in the tarmac..
Maybe on the old runway. This new one is pretty flat. It’s possible adult beverages were involved….
Hi my dear. Thank You for your informational video.
But I have a question. Could You help me please? I have 2200mAh 3s tx60 and which type of connector should I buy? I want to know correct male and female definitions.
I just blew up the spinner on mine hitting the throttle too quick on 4s..this plane is great for mild to wild but I found the limits of the prop assembly..found a place to get an aluminum spinner at Esprit.com. Great to see you review this one..its a good plane for windy days and catching thermals.
A. Strom, Did the aluminum spinner work out?.
What were u able to find ? Props, and spinners? Any part numbers would be appreciated, tks
Good review!
Looks like a nice docile flyer for beginners, or, crank up the throttle for the more advanced. Thanks!
Yeah, this would be a really good 2nd plane I think.
Can you share the Liperior battery you used?
rcbattery.com/liperior-2200mah-4s-35c-14-8v-lipo-battery-with-xt60-plug.html
it ridge runs the dunes along the beach pretty good, I don't think the pelicans like it tho
the nose is sposed to break off pretty easy
I've heard that, but I haven't seen it on mine yet. I guess a lot of guys upgrade to aluminum folding spinners.
Thanks for a great video. I can hear you have vario active. Can you explain how you have activated vario. I can not get vario to work on mine. I have AR637TA installed and use Spectrum DX8 with telemetry
I don't use Spektrum gear. I used a FrSky G-RX8 and a Radiomaster TX16s
I got this for my third plane after the aeroscout. What size 3s would be good to start with?
2200's work great.
Great review. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you 🤗
This model has another basic flaw in that midway into the battery bay there is very little foam connecting the entire front of this model. Mindf fell 2ft off a table and broke in half. I strongly suggest reinforcing the front with carbon fibre strips.
Love this plane, on my second one. With no flaps it does land a bit fast for a small field.
What vario are using with this one? Thanks.
It's a slippery little plane. I have a frsky g-rx8 with built-in vario.
@@RCVideoReviews , cool I'll check into that. Thanks again!
Is safe already programmed and ready to go when you bind the plane?
Sorry, no idea. I don't use Spektrum gear.
I just mine today. I'm a newbie at 69. What is the smallest 3s battery to use to make it a better glider? How does it fly on safe?
Mine flew fine with a 3s2200. I’m sure you can go smaller if you want to rely less on motor and more on thermals. I don’t use Spektrum so can’t address your question about safe.
Great flying little plane though.
Whats this... it has fixed wings?! Glides nice
I know, it's like Deja Vu
When I retire I’ll probably get something like this to fly so the Arthritis doesn’t hurt as much.
Hehe. Cute. You funny funny man. Don't be a hater Freedie.
@@RCVideoReviews hahaha
Are you using your radio Master to control this plane?
Yes
@@RCVideoReviews what protocol do you use to get the telemetry and Vario to work? If I bind to spektum I get the telemetry lost notification 50 feet away. Do you have any thoughts on this? Or a video on getting spektrum working on the multi protocol module. Does the fact I am still on opentx matter?
30.00 price increase in 4 months...but wait inflation is a myth..LOL! PNP is now 199.00
I think they called it temporary. Too bad the price you pay is permanent right?
