Thanks joe, great review, we will consider developing heavy cutter. In fact, as long as the whole heat treated sword, do not need to be heavy, can pass this test, such as the 9260, because they have good elasticity.
Fantastic, 9260 would work well...great job Z-SEY 👏
What type of steel is the Crucible Steel made from?
This is a sweet looking piece
There is some real goodness over here
Has that classic look to her. Nice. Dig the copper.
Crucible steel just means that the steel has been folded. Does not necessarily denote that it will be made into a laminated blade.
Agree on tsuba. Have a bargain one on my viper and a custom made one on my James Raw.
Those tunes are not easy. Is it a #200 or #300
Right but no indication on folding lines on blade at all some it should be dh mono blade
Not sure dude, but it's like a piece of wood when dry gonna have to wet them next time
Excellent review.
Well thank you Kindly Kirk
Been waiting for this one!
Me 2 really long time in the making
Your form in the mid air cuts looked great!
I appreciate that whole heartedly, been a loooong minute since I cut last
Aw man she took a set! That blows! Your best review of a katana to date my friend. Well planned and thought out. Covered every aspect good job ol'boy
There was alot of planning that needed to go into this, I think they did a really nice job...Its in the conversation with Huawei as some of the finest made production swords in their price range, I am more impressed now that I covered it all...I kind of knew it may take a set but honestly it's not too bad and bent it back much better, I changed swords before it got bad....next time I Need to dampen the rolls and they should cut much better, But what a great nimble tatami cutter, dam, much appreciated my friend.
Also I put a link in my description with your zsey review for peeps to click on.
@@JoeSteel1 really? Thanks man
VERY VERY WELL DONE MY BROTHER! Everything was very well thought out and thorough! Sux it took a set but didn't look terrible. Very good job homie
Alot of work went into this, so much detail to cover, am glad I have this company in my catalog, they are doing great things...thanks my brother
Very nice sword Joe! 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Right on brotha thanks for watching
Nice looking piece!
It sure is! they did a hell-of-a job on this..thanks Roy
I recently ordered a Z-Sey and I'm excited to see how it handles and performs. Thank you for your great review!
Excellent which model?
@@JoeSteel1 Their ZXN-275 model. I wanted something more resilient and that seemed to fit the bill!
Stopping in to send some love ❤ and prayers 🙏🏻 from your Valentine 🥰🤟🏻
Oh thank you Donna so awesome of you, Happy Valentines day my darling Valentine
Hey Joe that’s a beautiful piece buddy!!!! I hope your doing well 😊
Thanks! You too! Good Luck to Boys tonight Pete
What a damn good review! Thanks for putting in so much effort; I will get my hands on a Zsey someday...
Many kind thanks Tater, Zsey makes a fine sword for sure, the polish is so good on the blades that it's a sin to cut with them, would be great to preserve it's luster.
Great sword , review and demonstration Joe , thanks for sharing , God bless brother ! #22aday #22adaynomore
Thank you very much Michael, have a safe, blessed week my friend
That was heart breaking trying to cut the hard cardboard. We believe this katana should be dedicated for mat cutting only. Very good review.
It's honestly not a heavy duty cutter very light and nimble, but it is a fabulous matt cutter...many thanks Tom...which DoJo you with?
Great review! Good to see you cutting, been a little while,eh?
It's been a loooooong minute since i cut my friend, thanks brotha
Good review mate, I hope to get one of these for tameshigiri and my youtube
Go for it! ZSey is really making some impressive stuff...and many thanks
real gorgeous Katanas my Brother, but not in my Price Range...much love and Respect Brother joe
God Bless brotha
That's a damn nice sword, man. Good showing! 15:30 great real-eye look to the cam
Yeah she's definitely a well made sword, alot of pride went into this..thanks King
You are really doing a great job at your reviews brother! I really am enjoying them, I have to say as much as old “MJ” lol! One thing, I am pretty sure that crucible steel does not necessary means folded , in fact it is the way of refining it without pounding and folding. And pig iron is again a bit different ( lots of impurities). May not be 100% correct. Anyhow thanks for doing this for us that are interested in this!
Thank you kindly Aaron, much appreciated, regarding the description and definition of crucible steel, a main element is pig iron, refined to remove impurities and reduce carbon content, the steel is folded, what I was trying to convey, is that their was no indication in my eyes of lamination, so it doesn't appear to be as so..that is historically what it is, look it up in wiklopedia, it expanded it well...thanks again brotha.
really good review, did you know about Korea katana? It is really impressive sword so look up koryo sword made in Korea
Many thanks will check them out, but I know they oem many blades their for other companies
When are you going to review the black cloud hammer sword and send back to John so I can buy it
I would say I'll give it a once over soon, and I'll get to John asap
Are you going to review the black cloud hammer sword
Brother you can't ask the same question 3 times and expect a different answer...Yes I'm aware that you want to purchase the sword, but I don't produce videos like everyone else as I'm hoping you can see, I will get to it as I can..and give it its due credit and attention. There are many shoots I need to do before I can get it to post production and I have had other projects, so patience is a virtue, the sword will be yours soon.. peace out
Does the color of that saya lean a little bit more to the red than the brown? Reason I ask is I'm ordering a new sword with the wine color ito & black same' and i'm trying to figure outt if a dark red saya or something like this one with the black speckles would blend better with it.
It's more wine color so if I had to yes, it leans more towards red then brown but it definitely not red...I may post pro pictures of the sword in my community posts..for you to examine better
@@JoeSteel1 Thank you very much. Yeah, I have the design of the blade and the tsuka down and everything, i'm just vacillating over the saya.
You ordering from zsey?
@@JoeSteel1 No. 10th sword from Hanbon. And I think they have the exact one in stock, if not they can get it. But sometimes some of the pictures on the website are not super clear, so I have them email me pictures of whatever so I can verify what they really look like. But I don't want to bother having Yao do that with something like this unless I'm kind of sure it's close to what I want.
Nice katana, z say did a nice job. One of the problems with getting through that carpet roll, is it wasn't stable enough and you were losing some of the power to your cuts when it moves. The one thing that always bothers me about companies that make the nakago nice and smooth is,you really don't want that. You actually want the nakago a little rough and the japanese would actually leave surface rust on it,because it helps keep the handle on especially if the peg broke. Great video joe 👍
Thanks Alex, I think if the roll was at least a little damp,, it would gave been able to be stabilized and cut alot better, oh well project for another day, as well as the nakago, I understand your reasoning and points on it, while not making this too long there are many reasons I disagree with you, but if I had to mention one, if you look at the finest swords made in the world in modern times, , by Clark, Sorrells, evolution blades or even modern Japanese masters, the, the nakago work, is part of the pride, beauty and art of the sword, you will never see a rust bucket on a truely fine sword. Like many other aspects I consider the nakago work a high quality attribute
It bends????
Ahhh not really but it's relisiliant
Thanks for the review Joe. Great as always. Great company with amazing fit and finish, but sadly there is no reason to not to use modern steels that won`t bend and still prefer steels like this doesn`t make sense to me on the user end. If I`ll be scared to bend my katana and spend this much I rather go with modern spring steels. Can`t have the beautiful hamon but then if I just want to look at it and be afraid of cutting I`d spend the money on a reasonably priced nihonto rather than very expensive wall hangar especially when the price goes of to $3-4-5k on some of the products. I wish they made 5160/9260 or s5/s7/sx105v mono steel TH with very well put together and quality fittings they have. Tamahagane, smelted steel or crucible steel or the secret steels makes me afraid.
Thanks for your support and comments as always...to be fair, I did push this sword harder then it was designed for...its a light cutter...tatami is fine, and such, wanted to see how much it can handle...but agree with your views on the steels for the most part...
Bends easy because the back is such low temper. Have them do it with a higher temp in the back and it should hold up better.
Thanks for the comment, hence the warning that it's a light cutter, but definitely noted. I know that they do produce heavier cutters.
