- Crashes, slide-offs, cars stalling-slick conditions from today's heavy snowfall are causing hazards along Snoqualmie Pass. And matters are only going to get worse ahead of Tuesday's blizzard warning.

As someone who holds a Washington State CDL $500 fine for no chains is bullshit! It should be $5000 and your taken out of service for 72 hrs. Washington State needs real enforcement

I agree! have mandatory testing every year or two years to renew your drivers license. Just like a food handler permit.

Or Lookout in Montana! I came back in late MARCH and hit slush and ice. Even though I was in LA I still had my winters on, and run them all year in BC. Great on gravel too. Stay safe.

Let's throw in MacDonald pass into the mix! I'm experienced in snow driving but slushy/snow conditions in Idaho to Montana is a lesson in its self!
Just come out and say it, these accidents happen because they’re driving TOO FAST for the conditions. Better to arrive an hour late than never at all. SLOW DOWN way below what’s controllable. Putt along and enjoy the snowfall.
It's more likely inexperienced drivers on the road thinking they can drive in conditions they are not used to.

A lot of these truck drivers you see are from out of state. They come here for loads and move around the country just as they are delivering our needs to us. In other parts of the country diesel is $2.75 compared to over $5 here in washington.
Trucking market is down so people are trying to save money wherever possible.

I find this kind of funny actually… i live in Erie Pennsylvania and I-90 is in my backyard. Here, it is Notorious for Very bad weather this time of year, yet this year (and last) have seen virtually minimal snow. Most locals here know how to drive in the worst possible conditions. 2017 Christmas Day we got like 4’ of snow, broke a record for the most snow on Christmas Day, about 7 Feet in 3 days time, but that was a “fluke”.. typically Erie gets about 100” or more a season, but certainly not this year. Doesn’t hurt my feelings.

Riding a motorcycle with ice and/or snow on the road is a terrible idea. Dirtbike on a trail maybe. Street bike on pavement? Hell no. Even if you don't wipe out think about a car or truck with a inexperienced driver losing control and punting you and or the bike or rolling over you. Not worth it.

This is worrisome. Global warming is becoming so horrific that almost the entire northern hemisphere is covered in record breaking snowfall. The polar caps are at record high levels. God help us if we ever get global cooling, the earth will probably burn up.
